Erudisiashares the results of her investigation over the last quarter hour, at the far end of the attic and the large but unremarkable items, protected from irritating dust by long undisturbed tarpaulins. (Con Save: 18).
"Let's climb down," she says, waving the rope and grappling hook that they've found, "then all four of us can find this next secret room. Perhaps each one has a piece of this puzzle. If you've glanced through that spellbook, I suppose there is no obvious code-word or clue within for how we exit this manor place?"
Bell blushes. "I put the book aside to look at later. I didn't even think about clues on how to leave, sorry." She offers up the book to Erudisia as she gathers up the items and puts them back in the adventurer's pack... leaving out the rope and grappling hook.
The half-elf dancer takes the book, with a thank you. She looks at the cover and the back for any clues, and its author, before looking for any block-pressed illustration of the author on the back page — all the rage in Moonshae at present, with a little epigram of their choosing to caption it — before flicking through the contents of the book itself, quickly.
( Damian_Mays backup account- My account is currently buggered like quite a few others and when I post or PM I get this- " You can only make 1 post every 1 sec.") I have reported and will try and muddle through until they can fix)
Erudisia finds no specific clues. The book’s cover is plain and unmarked, however the inside cover bears Fistandia’s signature. The pages are well-worn, thumbed through many times, some pages dog-eared. The entire narrow volume, more cover than content, is filled with arcane writing which, if Erudisia can roll Arcana DC 10, she recognizes as wizard spells.
On the inside back cover, Erudisia finds sketches of flowers, curlicues and funny animal faces like those a bored thirteen year-old might draw to decorate a schoolbook’s margins.

(Thanks for letting us know! We’ll keep moving and I’ll bot Meredith if needed until DNDB cleans up their act.)
Erudisia puzzles through the book enjoying the strangely geometric depictions of cats in a style she has never seen before. Eventually, she realises some are in fact spell logograms and not in fact cats. Some are cats, though.
Bell, Erudisia and Meredith are able to climb back down out of the attic and onto the landing with Rogi’s help from below. But as the three women descend, Rogi holds a finger to his lips, commanding silence.
When all four stand together on the landing, Rogi points, wordlessly, first to his ear and then, down the stairs.
You now hear a quiet sound drifting from somewhere below, from the “ground” floor where you battled the imp. A noise like a whisk in a mixing bowl and along with it, a very tiny voice…singing?
In tense near-silence, Rogi uses his magic hand to unfasten the grappling hook from the attic support beam around which it had been strung, then quietly retracts the magic hand. He takes the spring-hook in his own fingers, coils the silken rope, and places both inside his pack (unless someone else wants to hold them).
Erudisiatakes Rogi's message on board. She points one finger down towards the sound, then points to the direction of the hidden room they spied from the attic. She quirks an eyebrow. Which shall they go to? She jabs the finger towards the hidden room forward several times, to show her preference.
The floor at the western end of the attic had the peephole to the library room beneath it. So Erudisia would be pointing at the door pictured in this map in the wall to the left, and Meredith would have moved to that door. Does she (or anyone) open it?
The brass knob turns and the door opens easily, but there is no answer to Meredith’s greeting.
Most of this room is taken up by long wooden tables that are covered with glass vessels and books. Cabinets with glass doors line the walls, and they contain all manner of specimens. Just below the ceiling in the middle of the room, the colorful globes of a star mobile circle each other in an intricate dance. The far wall is almost completely covered by a map of the night sky, with a golden sunburst in the center above a closed door.
The furniture is all of deep brown wood, and the room is illuminated warmly though not brightly by oil lamps hanging from wall sconces.
Bell pokes her head into the room and, seeing Meredith and Erudusia run further into the room, walks in slowly -- seeing a work space she would hope to have one day.
"Does anything look like a portal back to Candlekeep?"
Erudisia gasps in delight and rushes in to the room to examine the beautiful star map.
The star map is rendered in fine detail, some stars a mere dot of yellow or orange paint, others, large silver circles the size of a large coin. Do the stars represent the true constellations, or are they simply an artistic interpretation of a starry night? How would Erudisia determine this? (Choose: roll Nature, Survival, or History)

"Does anything look like a portal back to Candlekeep?"
Bell does not immediately see a portal similar to the one she and the others used to move from Candlekeep to Fistandia's mansion. But closer inspection of the room may engage Bell's curiosity nonetheless. Walking past the cabinets, she finds them crowded with skulls, bones, mounted animals, rocks and minerals, dried plants, and jars with creatures floating in liquid. Measuring devices, glassware, and other scientific apparatus sit on the tables. Complex charts and mathematical formulas are drawn on a mobile blackboard.
Meredith turned towards Erudisia, " So....do we break this and climb down there or get there the normal way?"
Her voice conveyed that she wasn't really sold on the vandalism idea.
