Lucy walks next to Goggles, one hand holding a grimoire and the other resting beside her component pouch, relaxed but ready.
“I also demand an explanation about the adventurers who were supposed to have visited here a week ago. They were found floating in the river, chopped and rotten. The authorities have already found them, so it's no use sending us away. They will come here eventually, and you will be in trouble. Unless…” Lucy eyes the gnome rogue. “We help you.”
As she spoke, Lucy moved her fingers, using her illusion cantrip to display a translated version of their conversation in the air, much like the simultaneous interpreting provided in some Elven theaters in Waterdeep.
(OOC: Sorry, Goggles! But Lucy is a direct speaker, and it's a bit unnatural for her not to mention the other party.)
[No problem, good to see you're playing into your character, I'm trying to do the same. I'd usually be raring for a fight but Goggles is more of a cautious guy. Makes good roleplay!]
Artemis doesn't spot anything particularly out of the ordinary or dangerous at the moment as they circle around the farm.
The giant bristles a little visibly at the directness, her eyes smoldering as you question her.
(in giant)
"They threaten me and my children! Came swinging sword and magic! Human my friend, tried to stop them, but they killed him. So I kill back! We are already in danger, won't take chances. Is safe here I thought."
Goggles nods sorrowfully and says in Giant, before translating for the party 'We don't mean to threaten you at all. This human friend you speak of, is that the man who owns this place, Arthur?'
Goggles walks over to this grave and places a few wildflowers on top, mainly bluebells. He's upset to find out that the man who helped the tavern so much is now dead, and wonders how that will effect business, but thinks that he can use it to his advantage. Speaking to the giant, he asks 'I'm not sure if you knew, but Arthur made ingredients for the food for the people at the River Shining Tavern, especially food for children like yours, which brought them all so much joy. In his memory, and to help keep that joy alive, do you think you could help us gather our last two ingredients that we need? It would mean a lot to a lot of people.' He then obviously translates for the party and hopes that the giant is feeling generous. He then also asks 'Oh, and before I forget, what is you name? I'm called Goggles by my friends, so you can call me that too!'
Gogglesstifles a laugh and says to the giant 'What my friend Dangar is trying to say is that all we need one can of cow milk and wheel of cheese, aged seven seasons. I'm assuming they're kept in similar places, could you show us to where they might be, please?' He wants to keep up the friendly atmosphere with this giant; not only would he feel bad for fighting or killing her since she apparently has children to care for, but she also did not hesitate to kill the past adventurers, who the giant claims killed Arthur, though he's unsure about this, as if they were sent by Kaga especially, why would they kill Arthur, unless he fought back or got caught in the crossfire? He expects the giant is lying about the whole truth, but doesn't want to risk questioning the giant yet, and really hopes she wasn't the one to kill all of them in order to claim the homestead, and is now planning to backstab the party. Goggleswipes the unsettling idea from his mind and chalks it up to giant stereotyping and his brain ticking over with anxiety and ideas. He really hopes this giant only means well.
Lucy continues speaking to the giantess without a hint of fear.
“You are still in trouble. What matters isn't what you say but what the residents of Daggerford think. People usually don't like the idea of a murderous giant living near their town. They will send party after party of adventurers until you and your children are all… Hey!!”
Suddenly, Lucy's body starts to rock from left to right. If you look at the ground, you would find the ghost kids, Rose and Thorn, pulling Lucy's arms like a tug of war.
(Oh poor giants! Lucy, let's help them!) saysRose. (Yeah, let's help them!) agrees Thorn. (I want to see giant kids!)(Me too!)(I want to play with them!)(ME TOO!)
“Ughhhhh,” Lucy growls like an annoyed mother tiger. “Fine! Fine! Just stop tugging me!”
@Corrin, @Goggles
Lucy hands the bag of snacks to the paladin and rogue, asking for their help. “Corrin, Goggles, give this treat to the giant. Tell her my kids want to play with hers. And think of something NICE to persuade her to let me search the farm. I can't trust her without an investigation!”
Rova feels a bit lost as she listens to the giant speak to her companions. They all seem to be engaged in conversation in a strange tongue that she doesn't understand. It all sounds like gibberish to her.
Feeling uncomfortable over not being part of the conversation, Rova puts her hand forward to shake and says in Common, "I'm Rova, part of this team of adventurers."She tries to sound confident but then looks back at her teammates and whispers quite audibly, "Does she know what I'm saying? I don't know what she's saying."
Before the Giant can offer any words as to whether she understood, Rova looks at her again and says, now in Orc, "I'm Rova, can you understand what I'm saying?"

Corrin, who is glad to finally be able to be of help, takes the bag of snacks from Lucy andsays, “Of course. Goggles, maybe you could also tell the giantess that if she lets us search the farm and gather the ingredients, it would be a show of good faith from her end and in turn, perhaps we could speak to the town on her behalf?” Corrin was still wary of the situation and wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth or not, but figured for now, the best plan of action was to not anger the giantess. If they gained her trust, it could make the situation a lot easier to navigate.
"I guess she doesn't. And that's where all the trouble starts," Lucy says, pointing to the letters floating above her head. "By the way, I remember you're a warlock, right? Do you know any spells that can get us out of this sticky situation? Maybe one that can figure out if the giant is telling the truth, or something that can help us talk with her?"
(OOC: Lucy is asking for a Help Action for an Arcane Check.)
Rova had been far too distracted to notice the words appearing out of thin air and once they were pointed out to her, she watched with fascination for a few seconds. The fact that Arthur was dead, particularly killed, came as a surprise and she turned to Lucy, raising her brow as she took in the words.
"Well my powers mostly help me in combat, it's my speciality but we'll think of something that can help," she says to Lucy.
The mention of spells reminded Rova that she could be useful even if she couldn't converse with the giant entirely or even fight anything at the moment.
Once she talks to Lucy, Rova walks a few steps towards the fence where they had seen the barnyard cat sitting. Tucking her spear into her belt buckle that she has equipped for her, Rova tries to be gentle as she approaches. As she reaches the cat, Rova casts Speak with Animals on it.
Quietly she asks, "Little cat, do you have a name? Can you tell me what happened to Arthur, the man who lives here?"
(Okay wow, a lot going on. lol Let's see...if I miss something just mention it.)
She appears to be a fire giant.
She watches with a bit of confusion as you all babble about before shrugging and walking back off toward the barn. She doesn't appear to understand Orc speech either. However, the house is unlocked so you are welcome to explore it or the grounds as you wish it seems for now as she doesn't make any mention of where you might find the other ingredients. Perhaps she just has other things on her mind.
The cat is a tabby who patters a bit before sitting next to Rova and licks their paw for a moment. "The name's Timmik," he started with perhaps an expected superior tone. "Of course I can tell you what happened. But I won't. Your humanoid ways are below me." If cats could smirk, he would most definitely be smirking. "Ugh oh fine. A bunch people like you came running about a while ago, yelling and waving their silly sticks and things about on account of the giant. Might not have been so bad if they hadn't threatened her children. The man intervened and they killed him. I've been trying to do that for years of course."
Back to the Present…
