LEV
Lev could swear he hears muffled and pained cries coming from Bones staff, but there are so much going on in the battle, he's not quite sure.
----->(All can act, no need to wait: Lira, Lev, Bone, Iólinder, Jherak, Eel, Crab, Vydar, Zarbyn
As the black and crimson undead pirates tidal wave causes havoc, the eel’s lightning crackles and the huge Crabicore wings buff, a roar shakes the docks. A column of flame erupts at the southern pier’s edge, scattering people and monsters alike. The fire coils upward like a serpent before bursting outward in a wave of heat that sears the air.
From the blaze strides an old man in a singed robe patched with scorched runes, his wide-brimmed hat tilted low over a sharp gaze. His beard is wild, his staff capped with embers still smoldering. His eyes burn hotter than the flames around him.
He yells in a chastising voice that is sort of a cross between disoriented and perhaps maddened state at the entire group:
“Gulls on my roof, blood on my dock, lightning and explosions. All of you pecking, crawling, bickering.
Your chatter has disturbed my slumber. I warned you, I warned you all to leave me alone!"
He looks at the three monstrosities with perhaps more awareness:
“The Lord of Undead! Here! My flames will banish you and your summoned and drag you screaming back into the pit!"
Strangely, he pulls what appears to be a dinner plate out of a bag and throws it on the ground at his feet, shattering. Instantly, a circle of magical energy and runes surround him.
Lira has to pause with amazement for a moment as the old man makes his fiery entrance, glancing at Lev. "Maybe we can win with him on our side," she says before cautiously moving close enough to call to the wizard. "Are you Nico? We're supposed to meet you...It's a long story, but let's take care of these monstrosities first."
She swaps her wand for her bow and takes aim at where the crabicore's shell is cracked from her friends' assault.
Action: shortbow to hit 25, damage 10+5 sneak attack
Lira's shot penetrates the crabs exoskeleton, causing some damage to it. It is huge and despite all of the attackers, it seems to still be in reasonable condition. (Perception 11.....it does not see Lira).
He quickly looks at Lira, then says.
“Fish, fish, always fish! Can’t think through the stink. They sell them, they gut them, and they leave the bones for the gulls — Laughing, the gulls never stop laughing at me.”
Then he says,
“You think this is a story? A tale for the tavern? This is no story — it’s death walking! Hold your tongue and flee before he takes both!”
His focus turns back to an complex series of movements as he begins to weave a spell.
Overhearing part of the conversation, those not hiding or engaged with a monstrocity note the following: (Out of game, he might be holding an action)
Zanbar Bone turns and looks to Nicodemus, and Lira feels his gaze near hear hiding place.
Iólinder... Seeing that the docks may not offer a way out (and being uncertain if the others are even thinking about escape) ... Determines that escape means cutting a path through the thugs (which would also affect the fighting if the others were trying to see the fight through). Either way, he feels the need to draw attention from the others and at least give them the option of a path out of this cluster.
Zanbar and Nicodemus can wait if they must and, if the two of them clash, the others will still be better off with a clear path out.
Iólinder casts Spirit Guardians and begins to walk towards the path with the least amount of enemies blocking the way through.
"Death comes for the foolish most of all."
Anyone not in the party (or Nicodemus) within 15 feet of Iólinder as he walks and the area of effect passes over them has their speed halved and must make a DC15 Wis save.
On failure they take 20 radiant damage
Success they take 10
Will walk as far as I can without prompting opportunity attacks.
Map is not to scale and very approximate, so use theater of the mind here. There are opening each direction, but at this moment, each direction requires passing one of the baddies, and miscellaneous daggers and legion members.
Seeing Amdaeng suddenly get released by the crabicore, Zarbyn mistakenly thinks this is a sign of it getting weaker and decides to help try and stop it. He will attack twice with his Shadow Blade.
Attack: 21 to hit. Damage: 11 force damage.
Attack: 22 to hit. Damage: 19 force damage.
"Guys! Crab or Eel, we need to pick one and finish it off? It might help clear a path out of here!"
