"Well, it bloomed 10 days ago. At the start of the new moon is when it sprouted. Someone more familiar with magic and lore could know a good reason or have tracked other such occurrences."
Another leaf creature steps forward, stroking a leafy beard. "I have heard the petals of this plant have been used to induce hallucinations, create a powerful poison base, heighten magical potency, grant visions of the future, used to resurrect a dead person and create items you would call artifacts. The petals could even be used to fuel dark magic rituals, especially during a full moon when the lotus is at the height of its power."
Amdaeng is immediately struck with a number of thoughts regarding the release of ancient evil forces that may have impacted magical flora and its growth.....but she instead begins scouting for the best looking roses......something about the leaf-things creeps her out.
Jharek finds the leaf size creatures interesting. He’s never seen figures of their size, but finds their protection of the Lotus impressive, in an odd way. Clearly a valuable flower, by the way they can read activity in another city based on its bloom. He listens to the conversation and hopes to learn about the small people and the Lotus both. He remains silent, not wanting to interject while Zarbyn communicates with them.
Lira nods to Amdaeng, a bit distracted thinking about all of the possible uses for the lotus petals. "No, no trouble," she mutters to herself, casting druidcraft on the roses to make them bloom even more beautifully, "There. These should be perfect."

" Nice work.......should we go before someone accidentally provokes the leaf-things?"
Zarbyn joins Amdaeng and Lira after they collect the bouquet of roses and addresses Vydar, "The black lotus has some interesting uses, do you know of anything significant that happened 10 days ago, or maybe will occur on the next full moon?"

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(OOC: The group recalls Mayor Owen Carralif of Silvertons words: )
“Ten days ago, two female messengers of evil rode into town on massive white weasels. Beasts with eyes like burning coals. The riders were cloaked in shadows—hooded figures with no faces, their voices like cracked ice, each word ending in a whispering hiss. Around their necks, each wore a necklace with a blue crystal.”
“They asked for me by name. And when I came to greet them, they demanded I hand over my daughter, Mirelle. They wanted to take her to their mistress: The Ice Queen.
“Of course, I refused. And without another word, they turned and rode slowly out of town—heads bowed, shoulders hunched.”
“That very night… our suffering began.”
He recounts the horrors with trembling hands.
“Six moondogs came. Each one the size of a bear, strong as four men, with fangs like daggers. They prowled the alleys, leapt through windows, and tore good people from their beds. We found blood on the snow the next morning. Since then, we’ve lost twenty-three souls.”
“And it grows worse. Ghostly wraiths now float through the streets, firing beams of frozen magic that turn their victims into glassy pillars of ice.”
“We’ve barred our doors, bolted our windows, but nothing holds them back forever. Every night, the attacks return. Every night, we pray we’ll see the dawn.”
(The new moon began 10 days ago as well)

Lira and Amdaeng are able to harvest a dozen roses.
" These should do, Right?", Amdaeng queried Lira.
Lira nods to Amdaeng, a bit distracted thinking about all of the possible uses for the lotus petals. "No, no trouble," she mutters to herself, casting druidcraft on the roses to make them bloom even more beautifully, "There. These should be perfect."

The spell works wonders, making the roses look exquisite.
(The group can continue to explore or leave the gardens and find the home of the Serpent Queen (Also in the garden district).
