Taking in the beauty of the orange lit horizon thanks to the handy work of his friends. Knowing the chaos of the eruption will undoubtedly cause a quick exit by those inside the warehouse, he prepares his attack. He hopes rhe others are well prepared as well, having used preparation to their advantage. He holds his attack for Longfinger’s presence. If he doesn’t make his appearance, he will settle for one of the wagon drivers.
Longbow attacks-to hit 22 and 13
Damage-6 and 9
Bonus action-Hail of Thorns
As you hit the creature, this spell creates a rain of thorns that sprouts from your Ranged weapon or ammunition. The target of the attack and each creature within 5 feet of it make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 1d10 Piercing damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.(13 strength save)
Bright orange fire continues to light the sky and backdrop of the spice warehouse. Inside, those who were knocked down get up and begin moving toward the exit. As expected, that exit is the carts with the horses. None make it out on round one but those outside can set up for an ambush.
(Those on the rooftop lose half movement getting down, unless have a special ability).
At the docks, Zarbyn is dangerously close to the first ship and feels the heat of the explosion. Thinking quickly, he teleports (misty step) to the second ship. On the top deck are at least 10 crew with the female captain at the helm. Zarbyn hears the captain say, “Kill the rooftop mage first!”
Several crew are covering the flammable crates and some take aim at Vydar.
Zarbyn
(ROLL STRENGTH OR ATHLETICS TO UNCOVER THE FIRST CRATE: Success will determine how much it is uncovered. Zarbyn will also be a target for hand to hand next round)
Jharek positions himself for a great shot at the first man out (next round/ but can roll with advantage)
Amdaeng snaps out of her stupor and scrambles with ridiculous speed down the wall and sets up near the doorway.
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Zarbyn vanishes from his hiding place and reappears on the deck of the second ship as it pulls away into the rivers current. The moment his boots hit the wood, he knows, this may have been a mistake. Four pirates are already at work nearby, hauling thick, waterlogged tarps over a cluster of crates, cinching them down with rope and dousing them to smother any spark. At the helm, a tall, commanding woman, clearly the captain, guides the vessel with practiced precision, angling it out of the harbor and into the dark ribbon of river that leads to open sea. Across the deck, three crewmen snap their attention upward to the rooftop, spotting Vydar's position. The earlier blasts (one missed, second hit) giving him away. Zarbyn moves quickly, lunging for one of the covered crates. He grabs the trap and pulls, but it barely shifts. The material is soaked, heavy, and partially tied. It resists him completely.
Then he hears someone yell, "On deck! Boarder!"
Pirates surge toward Zarbyn. Three take aim at Vydar, but between the ships motion and the chaos of the burning wreck next to them, two of them miss. One hits Vydar (21 to hit) for 3 piercing damage. On deck, Zarbyn barely has time to react before two pirates are on him, daggers in motion. (both get a 23 to hit, 6 damage and 4 damage.)
Meanwhile, At the spice warehouse (Party can position for an ambush). Those inside were knocked down by the nearby ships explosion., They get up and begin moving toward the exit near the horse and carts. (Amdaeng and Jherek are in position).
Lev had hoped that the commotion would draw out the people in the warehouse, but apparently they don’t think in this is enough of a surprise or emergency to have the decency to walk into their trap. …should have thought of that.
He very nearly shouts at Vydar to get down, but his words are cut short when the wizard takes an arrow. Gritting his teeth, Lev murmurs, “We should have started the bloody warehouse on fire instead.”
(Lev is currently standing on the roof above the door, awaiting someone to rush out, but I will update my action once I’m at my computer and have access to owlbear to better see what’s going on)
Halbert knows that two groups of those inside will be exiting. He will have advantage on his first attack. From the south west doorway, 2 legion run out. Behind them Halbert sees more motion of additional thugs.
As two men exit, Amdaeng rushes them, attacking with her Daab (Surprise) on (4), hitting him and cutting deeply into him. Behind the two coming out, Amdaeng sees three more legion members.
Jherak takes aim, letting loose two arrows. Both arrows strike (5) A magical hail of thorns hits legionnaires 4 and 5 (The first is able to move out of the way somewhat (4 damage) and the second takes it full on for 7 damage)
LEV: Lev can search for Warik Longfinger and see if he can spot him (Perception)
----->Amdaeng, Jherek, Ning, Zarbyn, Vydar, pirates, Lev, Ruel, Legion thugs, Halbert (Everyone can declare actions. Can change action if needed if bad guys do something unexpected)
Zarbyn realizes that this crazy plan of his may be way beyond foolhardy. Maybe stopping one ship was enough but he had to try for the second if there was even a small chance.
With no time to waste on another attempt at pulling the tarp off he will draw his Shadow Blade and make two attacks hoping to slash a big enough hole for Vydar to hit.
Attack: 20
Damage: 23 necrotic damage.
Attack: 17
Damage: 22 necrotic damage.
(if rolls were needed to cut a hole)
Right after he cuts a hole in the tarp Zarbyn uses one of his free Misty Steps to teleport 30 feet off the ship and out over water, towards shore, aiming for being dropped in the water somewhere within 30 feet of shore if possible?
And lastly, my Misty Step feature gives me 6 temp hp so my current hp of 29 gives me a buffer of 35 total (just in case I get caught in the blast)

— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Zarbyns sword slices through the protective tarp. Its touch (Necrotic) quickly begins to erode the threads and tough fabric, making it look weathered and weak where it was struck by the blade. Underneath, he sees wooden crates. Before those on board can take any more action, he then teleports into the water, about 20 feet from the docks. (make a strength/ athletics check to begin swimming toward the docks)
Vydar: Having been spotted, is under attack and has sustained some damage from the pirates. He sees Zarbyn cut open the tarp on the second ships deck and can try a shot at the now exposed crates. (It is not clear what the results of that will be, (If you attack, roll your to hit, roll damage, then roll a D6 for me). Across on the other rooftop, he hears Lev. Clearly, the crimson legion members within the warehouse are starting to emerge, including their primary target, Warik Longfinger.
Jherek: Jherek sees a man within who he thinks was giving the orders (10)
Lev sees who he believes is Warik Longfinger as well, (9). Both men look quite similar (Twins perhaps?)
Amdaeng, Jherek, Ning, Zarbyn, Vydar, pirates, Lev, Ruel, Legion thugs, Halbert (Everyone can declare actions. Can change action if needed if bad guys do something unexpected)

Vydar stumbles back slightly when the arrow hits his shoulder, then instinctively tries to crouch down making himself a smaller target. Even with the wound, the dark elf barely pays it any mind as he watches the chaos from his blast unfold with a satisfied smirk on his face.
Turning his attention to the second ship. He watches Zarbyn quickly board it then cut open a tarp, revealing more explosives before suddenly teleporting out over the water. Knowing exactly what his comrade had just done he lifts a hand to cast another firebolt at the exposed explosives. "Don't get caught in the blast Zarbyn." He says more to himself before fireing off the spell.
To hit: 22
Damage: 9
D6: 4
After doing this, he does a quick look around in an attempt to locate Zarbyn. Perception: 15
He also takes note of Lev's call.
If he sees Zarbyn and Zarbyn looks like he needs help Vydar will then move as far as he can towards Zarbyn. If Zarbyn seems fine (as fine as he can be with the blast...) Vydar will move across the roof, hopefully out of range of the archers on the ground and prepare to help Lev with Longfinger.
When the man he saw giving orders a few minutes ago emerges from the warehouse, Jherak takes notice. He’s not sure it’s Longfinger, but it’s worth taking a shot at him. Placing his Hunter’s Mark on the man before firing off two rounds from his long bow and ducking behind cover, hoping to not give up his location.
Zarbyn is easily able to navigate the water with his magical armor. It almost seems to help him swim and he moves quickly toward the dock.
Vydar takes another shot at the opening in the tarps. His fire does hit the wooden crate which pops off. Underneath, he sees an iron canon. The crate top does catch fire but without Zarbyn there, the crew is able to quickly put it out as the ship moves down the river 60 feet toward the sea. (OOC: D6 determines what his bolt hits. Needed a 6 to hit explosive ammo.) Two arrows come flying at Vydar, who is using the cover of the rooftop to protect him from the boat below (half cover: +2 ac). Both bolts hit the side of the building, missing Vydar. Vydar sees the glint of Zarbyns armor and the man swimming quite quickly toward the docks. It seems he will be ok and does not need assistance.
Jherek takes aim at leader (10). His first shot hits, arrow piercing splint armor for 15 damage. The second shot misses as the man moves.
Halbert attacks (10) who has excellent armor and is surprisingly quick. His first attack glances off the armor, the second misses. (No cleave from miss).
Crimson thug 4 (Quite injured) and 5 (More injured) attack the fast Amdaeng: (Thug 4 gets a 22 to hit and a nat 20!): bludgeoning damage: 6 and 10), Second thug: swings wildly, then again: 22 to hit, 4 damage. Then he continues to move past Amdaeng toward the carts (OPPORTUNITY ATTACK).
Thug 7 moves toward the raging Halbert, attacking with his a club: (First attack 20, 5 bludgeoning damage, second attack: 19, 7 damage.
Thug 8 draws a crossbow and shots at Halbert but misses. The man that Jherak hit looks at the three that bar his way, and attacks Halbert: He pulls out a wicked looking steel longsword :24 to hit (advantage), 20 to hit: 10 and 8 slashing damage.
A group composed of the other boss (9), and his goons 3,6 and 9 move to the center of the street. (As the man moves Lev recognizes Warik Longfinger). Warik yells out, you have attacked Crimson legion, this is a death sentence on you all. The two in the front of this group pull crossbows and take aim at Jherek: 21 to hit (advantage), and a miss: Damage: 4, and 16 to hit, 10 piercing damage.
Ruel poured scorn on himself he had been stuck like a statue, only once before had he let this fear overcome him, when he had let the mob murder his Shogun, he had let him down, and he was about to let down the people who were there for his Natalie.
This was not one this was not how a sword saint behaved, this was lacking in honour. Ruel saw the thugs massing towards Lev and Halberts and he couldn't be still any further ripping Singing Death from its sheath, he closed the gap between himself and Warik, avoid the other thugs if possible he aims a blow of vengeance at Warik. Hoping to take the head off the snake.
Move: towards Warik and draw weapon
Action: Attack with Singing Death to hit 26 Damage 15 including sneak attack
Warik shifts at the last possible instant, turning what should have been a killing thrust into a glancing strike. Whether instinct or something more, his movement is unnervingly precise—like he saw it coming. A thin smile forms. “It is never wise to face me.” His blade comes fully into view: sword-shaped, but bone-white like ivory, with thin strands of black smoke curling from its edge of its tip as if it breathes.
Then he strikes. Three quick thrusts, each guided with unnatural certainty. The first slips through guard and drives deep (26 to hit, 22 piercing damage), carrying a sickening chill—Constitution save DC 12. The second follows immediately (21 to hit, 9 piercing damage). The third lashes out just as fast but misses wide (16 to hit). Warik settles back, blade smoking softly, his smile unchanged.
Then his eyes shift—and stop. He sees Lev. Recognition flickers, followed by something colder. The smile sharpens. Without another word, Warik slips back with effortless precision (Cunning Action: Disengage), moving out of the samurai’s reach and behind one of his guards. His blade lowers slightly, angled toward Lev now. "Your brother Knox squealed when I cut him. Now we will end your family line." His voice is calm, but his attention has already settled on his former gang brother, Lev.
