Dr. Bailey closely watches his gold pocket watch as and as soon as he snaps it shut the train's speed increases dramatic enough to push the passengers against their seats. He just smiles and says "my lubricant must be working. Though the effect is stronger than anticipated"
"I'm sure everyone will be grateful to get there quicker, even if they won't know why." Modoc will keep an eye on the other passengers and watch if anyone is paying particular attention to Dr. Bailey.
As she watches Eririkur go off with the furniture salesman, Hyalithza will take a spot by the crates. Leaning against the wall she moves to keep her hand close to her revolver. Once Eririkur returns she will then tell him what she had seen.
Eirikur listens to Hyalithza's report with genuine interest. He grows pensive upon hearing of the several well-armed people and seems concerned to learn that there would be few places to protect Dr. Bailey.
"Great scouting work. What was your estimation of the armed people? Were there any large groups or did they mostly seem spread out among the other scientists on board? Do you feel that if any of them had malicious intent, that we would need to be all together to handle them? Which god did the man of faith worship?"
The British gentleman overhears Dr. Bailey "You added some kind of axle grease, well I added magnetic coils to the wheel assembly to increase stability and speed."
The slightly hunched man says, "I also modified the steam tank with my cyclonic projector which should increase steam pressure."
The woman with the blonde hair says "Boys messing with the locomotive. I had the sense to add an air filtration system. You can thank me for no more hay fever while in the train."
Moments later the modifications kick in causing the train to travel through the Great Lakes region at ridiculous speeds. It seems the scientists did not anticipate that other scientists would have the same idea.
Suddenly a shudder goes through the entire train. Followed by the distinctive groan of metal under stress. The vibrations swell underfoot and then rises into the seat bottoms and the armrests
The inventors seem stricken and make no move. Dr. Bailey on the other hand shakes his head "Blast it." He looks to Modoc "I need your group to remove the offending inventions before we are torn apart by all the modifications. Head to the cab with the engineer and boilerman. The modifications can be accessed from the cab"
Modoc, not wanting to leave Dr. Bailey alone, looks around for one of his companions. If he can't find anyone, he'll quickly head to the baggage car to gather his companions. "Hey boss, the other scientists added modifications to the train as well. We've go to disable them before they destroy the train."
Hyalithza mutters a curse in Elvish as she hears this, pushing up from against the wall. "Should all of us go up there ot should at least one of us stay here to keep watch on the crates?" She asks, looking over to the others to Guage their thoughts on the matter.
Eirikur is heaved against the crates by the sudden, explosive acceleration and barely rights himself as the vibrations of the train wheels rapidly rolling over uneven track begin to manifest underfoot. Images of the train shaking apart start to percolate in his mind just as Modoc blows into the freight car, sounding the alarm.
"There are many scientists on this train and that means many modifications. We all go. If the train shakes itself to pieces at this speed, all of the scientists will fail to demonstrate their inventions at the symposium... or any other in the future, for that matter."
Eirikur tosses his black long coat over his crates and rolls up his sleeves of his maroon shirt. He adjusts his weather-beaten vest, causing the chainmail within to glint from cracks in the frayed leather. "Let's go. Gaelan, you with us?" Eirikur heads for the door, already expecting a response from his friend, but not waiting for it.
Gaelan is split with indecision for a short time. Saving the engine is important but keeping the professor safe is an absolute priority. The speeding train would be a great distraction for an assassination.
"I'll stay back and keep an eye on the professor!" he shouts.

Most of the party rushes to the cab but the tender car stands in the way. You can try to climb over it or some other method. Standing outside the wind whips at you face and traversing over the tender car may be hazardous.
If attempting to climb over the tender car unsupported then, please roll athletics DC 16.
If using rope somehow or some other aid method, then athletics DC 13.
Eirikur grunts smugly to himself as the winds batter his ears. He fishes out his newly bought grappling hook and prepares to use it to pull himself up and then, upon ensuring it is safe, have Hyalithza follow him if she hasn't a better way.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hyalithza is clearly not thrilled about having to attempt to get onto the tender even with the rope. Muttering to herself as she grabs the rope she attempts to make it across.

OOC: That worked?! I thought for sure I would be kicking Silas off the train to shut him up later. A win is a win though, so I am taking it. :P

"Got it boss. I'll clear the way." Modoc moves quickly towards the engine calling "Everybody move!" as he charges to the front of the train.

Modoc will go first, unsupported, but if he succeeds he will tie a rope to assist the others across.
Modoc easily climbs over the tender car and is not pushed off by the fierce winds. He then ties a rope to aid his compatriots.
Everyone else heading to the cab please roll athletics. DC 13
