The man slowly lowers his coffee. "They are children imitating adults. Each of them with an Ego the size of USA. On top of that Riddle" He says the man's name dripping with hatred "He is a philandering dandy. Now what do you want. I can see you are with them?"
"Only to repay a debt to Bailey's benefactor. I'd rather be stuck in the middle of a fight with an ogre without a weapon then deal with these so called scientists and their ridiculous inventions." Hyalithza tells the man, some truth in her words as she glances back at the scientists.
"You look as though you are going to kill Riddle with your glare alone so I thought it was in my best interest to at least ask you keep to keep Bailey out of whatever it is you are about to do since I need him to make it to this symposium."
"Honestly I would like them to keep on ramblin at each other since it keeps me from having to have him yap my ears off. But I could perhaps attempt to get Bailey to find some other way to distract himself." Hyalithza say as she turns to look back at the others. She nudges her head towards Bailey, trying to use her hands to mimick them leading him away from Riddle.
"A good idea" says Dr. Bailey who picks up his plate. Patton Riddle wishing to rub it in some more also picks up his plate "Where are going old friend?"
"Nowhere near you" says Dr. Bailey
"Oh, be still my heart that hurts. I felt like we can speak more about the symposium and how I will win it again" says Patton Riddle
"There are plenty of empty tables Mr. Riddle. No need to share a table" says Dr. Bailey
"I want to share a table with you and last I checked you cannot really stop me as there are no rules that bar me from joining your table" says Patton Riddle
Dr. Bailey turns to Modoc, wordlessly saying with his look. Take care of this buffoon.
Modoc imposes himself between Dr. Bailey and Mr. Riddle and stands to his full height. "Dr. Bailey said he wants his own table and to eat in peace. Please find another table."
Hyalithza nods as she moves to let the angered man be, making note to keep her eyes on him incase whatever he does might cause harm to the groups charge.
"I think you'll find that the further we get from 'civilization' the more you'll realize that the laws are made by those who are strong enough to enforce them." Modoc will pick up Patton and set him aside.
Patton Riddle has a look somewhere between disbelief and disgust. His charming veneer falls away to anger. He fusses and straightens his clothing. He then looks to Dr. Bailey "This man is yours, so the blame is with you good doctor. Know that you are not the only ones with muscle. I hope you sleep well tonight"
He stomps away towards the lounge car.
The man with the case has a malicious grin at Riddle being lifted like a sack of potatoes.
Dr. Bailey gestures to the party members in the dining car to come closer. He whispers "This night may be more eventful than I expected and since we are at a standstill we make an easy target for thieves and cutthroats. Stay vigilant"
He puts down his plate of food "I don't have an appetite anymore. I will go the passenger car and do some reading instead"
He walks through the lounge car to get to the passenger car. The other inventors are deep on their cups or may seem like they are drunk as they gamble the night away with some smoking cigarettes to cigars.
Dr. Bailey now unsettled reaches for a book in his bag titled, Alchemy of Science: Transforming the Elements of Discovery, and starts reading. He is not alone as the man in religious garb and a few tough looking folks are also in the passenger car. The man in religious garb approaches Dr. Bailey and in a raspy voice he say "Hello I am father Anselam Emmerich, I see you have something on your mind. I am sure me and the good book here can help alleviate your worries"
Dr. Bailey recoils and looks at the man as if he is a snake oil salesman. Dr. Bailey lets out some of his frustration on Father Anselam "Nothing a quiet evening by myself can't fix, now take you quackery faith back to your seat"
The man taps his book "Know only the faithful will find salvation when the Reckoners cull the weak and you sir need faith in your life"
"What I need is to be in Dodge city" says Dr. Bailey
Father Anselam walks back to his seat after taking a long look at Dr. Bailey and begins quietly whispering something and lightly tracings a design on his book. Perhaps it is a prayer or something else.
As Gaelen passes the time throwing darts the freight car opens and 3 tough looking people enter. The lady in the lead has a burn mark along her jawline. In a commanding voice she says "Oy, Froggy, what is with tying the outer freight car doors shut and who the hell are you? You better not be tampering with any of the crates"
Modoc will not at the grinning man with the case as they leave. He'll take up a position near Dr. Bailey as he takes a seat and listens to the conversation with interest. Especially when the dismissed Father Anselam performs the prayer or ritual with the book.
In response to Dr. Bailey's unease, Modoc will say: "That's what your employer is paying us for, Dr. Bailey. You can rest easy knowing we've got your protection in mind. A blowhard like Mr. Riddle won't last long in borders of the Coyote Confederation."
Gaelan looks at the group and says "This section of train needs to be secure. Otherwise scoundrels may be making a mischief with these here crates. Now if you are such scoundrels then I am here to prevent you doing the said mischief." His black eyes blink and he assesses which one he should try to take out first. Though it is possible they are the security team of another scientist. But that doesn't mean they won't try anything untoward to the boxes.
"The name's Gaelan. I'm in the employ of Dr. Bailey. And you might be?"

"I am Lucille, and I work for Ms. Galloway. I also came by to make sure no other mischief happens to her crates. Now why don't you go eat. Its been a long day and I can watch all the crates with my men" says the leader of the trio
Modoc will stay by Dr. Bailey's side, but occasionally glance at Hyalithza to see how the conversation is going.
The man slowly lowers his coffee. "They are children imitating adults. Each of them with an Ego the size of USA. On top of that Riddle" He says the man's name dripping with hatred "He is a philandering dandy. Now what do you want. I can see you are with them?"

"If Bailey stops being so chummy with that bastard, then I might do just that. Though no promises" says the man.
"Yes, that would be in his interest to distance himself from Riddle" says the man staring intently at Patton Riddle.
Seeing Hyalithza's motion, Modoc will say to Dr. Bailey, "Perhaps we should take our meal elsewhere and leave Mr. Riddle to his."
"A good idea" says Dr. Bailey who picks up his plate. Patton Riddle wishing to rub it in some more also picks up his plate "Where are going old friend?"
