"Who knows Idalie. Right now there's a bit of political intrigue for the new town speaker. We're heading out of town to follow someone. I'll catch you up on the way."
It was late morning. You follow the route to Targos (he sticks to the main road so easy to follow) and arrive just after nightfall. (I don't have easy access to the module right now but I belive you do pass by another town on the way, but he goes around it if possible, or straight through if not, I would have to check the maps). On arrival in Targos, he goes straight to a house, and upon knocking he gets let in. It's a busy enough town that you could follow him without suspicion. Snooping around someone's house, that is less easy to do.
"Do you think Sparks could find a nice window to listen in at, Cirim?" Neldak looks thoughtful. "An owl would blend in better than we would. I would cast invisibility, but I'm a little spent after all of our adventures today."
Flying past, sparks can't see much, but it seems as if he is heading to bed. Not suspicious at all. Though from the higher vantage point you see another figure leave the back door and head to a much larger house (that you can quite easily find out is the Speakers house)
"So Shandar Froth seems to be tied to the Speaker of this city..." Etriel Darastrix muses aloud when briefed on the information "...which, at best, represents a conflict of interest. And at worst..." her green eyes have a hint of concern now "...he may be part of a plan to damage Good Mead in favor of Targos".
"My magical means, unfortunately," the eladrin huntress sighs "are not suited to investigation and persuasion... But if no one has better means to delve deeper into what is going on, I am willing to visit the Speaker and try to speak to him directly, claiming to want to take the place of the dwarf, so clearly unsuited to carrying out machinations reliably".
"Of course, Sparks could keep an eye on me," the foreign traveler suggests "so that if things go badly you all can come to my aid. What say you, noble fellow travelers? Does anyone have more discreet or less risky means? Or shall we agree to try my eloquence?"
Along the way, Danon becomes visible again, the determined elf following the trail, he looks down at his arms and legs, surprised by their reappearance. He falls back to catch up with everyone and walks at Etriel's side as she follows the tracks. He follows the course of events as they entered town, staying quiet and watching.
"I could go either way on this, but I'd say the sooner the better. We could be standing near by, ready to rush in on your signal, if needed. I'm pretty sneaky myself, even when not turned invisible. I follow your lead, my Lady." Danon nods his head toward Etriel, listening as they further formulate the plan.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"I agree with you, dear Danon, precious traveling companion and wise advisor" Etriel Darastrix smiles at the other. "Considering that I am going to propose a shady business to the Speaker, showing up in the evening is perhaps even more appropriate than doing it in broad daylight. I will be more credible. And I hope that in any case it does not come to violence... the Speaker should be a mastermind, rather than a thug, in my opinion".
The foreign traveler therefore invokes Sehanine Moonbow's blessing once again, after which she sets off to go knock, confident that Sparks will be keeping an eye on her - so that in case of need the whole party can rush to her aid.
Now I've properly read the Targos information, the speaker actually lives in the largest suite at the inn. And that is where the messenger went. When you try and make your way their, the innkeeper refuses to let you upstairs to the rooms, and if you let him know you wish to speak to the speaker, he tells you that you are welcome to send him a message to arrange a meeting for the morning, though a messenger just went to him so his schedule might be filling up
"I am another messenger, with a message certainly no less important than the previous one..." Etriel Darastrix raises an eyebrow. "You don't think I'd come to disturb the Speaker at this hour without having communications of the utmost importance, do you? Do you really want the Speaker to know, tomorrow, that if he has far fewer hours to prepare the necessary countermeasures, he has you to thank?"
The innkeeper looks like he was going to argue as he doesn't recognise you, but then sees you have clearly been travelling all day so are from another town and lets you up
Neldak will find a seat (or someplace inconspicuous) to wait while Etriel enacts her plan. If the inn is serving food, he'll order something warm to eat.
"Pleased to meet you, sir" Etriel Darastrix smiles in a friendly and sympathetic manner, taking care to keep her voice low enough so as not to be heard by listeners far away. "I come with a proposition that is sure to interest you. Would you be so kind as to let me in and take a seat? It concerns the matter for which you have entrusted yourself to the inept Mr Shandar Froth - inept enough not only to have allowed himself to be discovered, but to also have allowed me to trace it back to you".
"Fortunately for you, however," the foreign traveler goes on "I would like you much more as an employer than as an adversary... in fact, I may be willing to replace the one who has done you such a clumsy disservice. So..." she raises an eyebrow "shall I enter, so we can talk more freely?"

"That's a good idea" she says to Neldak. "Sparks, go take a look at this house, see if you can find a place to see or hear inside!"

"Do you want to do this now or in the morning? It's pretty late and I'd be more prepared to help if we rest." Neldak shrugs and yawns.

Cirim assures Etriel that Sparks will be watching, additionally, she blesses you with Selune's charm for the next hour. (Charisma)

Etriel Darastrix goes up... As soon as she is out of sight, she renews the blessing of Sehanine Moonbow upon herself and, for good measure, also casts a protection spell.
The eladrin huntress then reaches the door of the Speaker's room and knocks.
[[ OOC: Is the Speaker coming to open the door? Or does something different happen? ]]
(sorry, been very busy over Christmas. Will be reduced replies until new year)
The door is opened by someone you assume to be the speaker. He looks surprised to see you but says nothing, waiting for you to speak.
