[[ OOC: She is proficient in Survival ]] Anyway, the foreign traveler shares with anyone who's interested: "We'll have a full moon anyway, tonight. Just a matter of an hour, two at most."
Neldak ponders what they've seen. "That mirror would be a great way to gaze upon one's own face, but what kind of questions would we have?
[ Good thought, what question(s) should we try. Shall I ask the mirror How to stop the endless winter?]
How to stop the endless winter would also be my most important question! And if the answer to this is cryptic, maybe the other questions could be put to good use trying to clarify the previous answer.
Etriel Darastrix, eager to leave no stone unturned in learning more about this place of ancient magic, goes to examine the row of outward-facing white marble statues atop the granite pillars south of the berm.
Etriel, Six elevated, white marble statues arranged in a line depict slender, robed figures facing northward. The engraving on their faces has been worn away by the wind, but pointed ears make the statues identifiable as elves. They are life sized, and on 7ft tall pillars. They seem to match one on top of the berm facing south. And the three that I can't remember if I mentioned that are in the cave that you fought the moose. The three in the cave face east (the wall) and are not on pillars. They also have not lost their faces as they are sheltered.
Neldak, you can tell the mirror is magical, and it also requires attunement. You can attune to it while waiting for the moon to rise if you wish (and will learn a bit more about it in the process)
Etriel Daratsrix carefully examines the statues of the now faceless elves, wondering in the secret recesses of her mind: 'Are they heroes from the past? Or a noble house? Or... considering they look outward... are they guardians? Guardians who have not stopped Ravisin's influence, though, it seems. Have they lost their effectiveness because they are faceless? Or were they faceless from the beginning, to remind us of what Corellon once allowed us to do—to choose our own faces freely?'
The statues, however, provide no answer to the foreign traveler, who bows respectfully before them, reciting a brief prayer to Sehanine Moonbow, the Moonlit Mystery... that she may watch over the souls of those who rest here and help the souls of those who still live to penetrate its secrets, so they may worship them as they deserve.
The eladrin huntress then rejoins the party, confidently preparing for what the moon will bring. She approaches Danon, seeking his fingers with hers and murmuring serenely: "With traveling companions like the ones I have found, and the sweet guest of my soul at my side, under the light of she whom our people revere as the goddess of the moon, I am ready for anything."
[[ OOC: OK, I can't think of anything else to do first, taking the Short Rest ]]
Just one. It's a standard (well, not quite standard but a variant of one) magic item.
It functions as a crystal ball. It only functions however, when the full moon (with the inscription) is hit by concentrated, magical moonlight (ie, the moon dial once you see it working, or a moonbeam spell).
I'll give Danon a bit of chance to post before progressing to moonrise
Danon had walked outside with the stately giant elk, who seemed to paw the ground and was very interested in how it arrived here, apparently. It spoke seemingly in a language that he didn’t understand, but was musical, lyrical almost. As the half moon rose and the glowing pillars of light began to illuminate the area, it seemed to be prancing, happy. Danon watched in fascination. He watched Etriel, curious as to what she was doing. Then he watched Neldak focus on a mirror and he is curious about what he sees in it. “That is beautiful, tell me what you see, maybe it can help us solve this mystery…”. Danon goes through his forms, stretching his body, then making himself warm, summoning some heat and he watches the perimeter. He likes the idea of focusing the moonlight on the doors, reflecting the light in some manner, perhaps. He talks to the giant elk, wondering how long it will stay with him.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
The half moon rises, and the crystal gnomon projects a triangle of moonlight onto the moon dial’s face, its tip lighting the half moon face. You do notice that even when the clouds are covering the moon, the moonlight from the gnomon is still there. It is clear that this isn't just projecting moonlight, it is very much creating it magically. (however long you wait, it doesn't move. It does seem to correlate to the current moon phase not progressing around during the night)
The mirror doesn't work unless the full moon is lit (a moonbeam spell on the full moon emblem works, or you can be here on a full moon), the doors don't look any different, but if you wish to try open one, let me know which one you try first.
"Well, we might have to come back during a full moon if we want to use this mirror." Neldak dusts himself off from sitting before the mirror in his attempt to attune to it. He'll go try to south door to see if it opens.
"But perhaps the doors can now be opened..." Etriel Darastrix is clearly intent on testing this hypothesis—she therefore waits for her traveling companions to follow her, then murmurs a brief prayer to Sehanine Moonbow, the Moonlit Mystery, and attempts to open the south door... or, if that's not the case, the north one. She tries to do so slowly and carefully, so as not to be noticed, if possible.
"Let me know if you would like be to try to bash one of these open. Me or my antlered friend here may try, but moonlight seems like a better option, if possible." Danon observes and tries to make sense of the moon puzzle.

If anyone is wanting to do anything in particular while waiting for moonrise, please say. Otherwise you can have a short rest while waiting.

Neldak will examine the mirror we found and see if it needs the moon light to function.

Neldak will attempt to atune to the mirror during this short rest.
[Can only one of us attune to the mirror at a time? If not Neldak can attuned. If multiple can, Cirim will also.]

*Just to clarify, the mirror doesn't work unless it's a full moon, right? And do the other doors open in the halfmoon light?
