By the time Flynt had re-acquired a target, the battle was over and the party was racing through the woods. The heat from the flaming trees stung the lawmans already scorched wounds. Steadying his breathing Flynt focuses on his wounds. Gritting his teeth through the pain, Flynt is able to focus past his injuries giving him a second wind. (Second wind healing :[4+3= 7]) He follows the rest until Leo calls for a stop. Catching his breath he listens to the party deliberations with mild annoyance. All this talk of town was only going to slow them down.
"We have a guide and a path that will seemingly take us to our destination. Why are we so concerned with a town? You dally when we should be making haste. Let us simply take the road and be done." says Flynt.
"Did the path and guide not just lead us into a fiery death-trap? Ah, no offense, dear road--I'm sure you didn't know." Armeros does not extend the same courtesy to Leo. The Tiefling regards Flynt with a skeptical gaze as he stands, casting mending to repair the scorched bits of his fine clothes as much as he can.
"We were over welmed by the first obstacle we faced and had to run or die, while we were at full strength. So clearly walking right up to the tower with no plan, limited supplies, and now weakened is going to end perfectly for all of us. I want to get back to my life as much as anyone but if dying the quickest is your goal, I believe the tower is in that general direction." Xondario points off through the woods, not actually caring about which direction the tower really was from them. " And that road was the only thing that kept us alive back there. We never said for the road to avoid dangers for us if the road could even know decipher that. We owe that road a bit more then telling it what to do."
Looking at Leo, "What say you our verbal guide? Is there such a safe place to regroup and recharge? Near by preferably."
Jasmine responds with annoyance of her own, "Because the last time we made a beeline for the tower, we got ambushed by 3 fire elementalssss. Unlessss you and I happened to be in completely different battlesss, we were outmatched, overpowered and ambushed by the three fire elementals that would have reduced us to scorched bonesss. The reason we are so concerned with a town issss not because we need to know where to go but rather because we need to learn what it issss we are dealing with. How do we know that the moment we enter the tower we are not all going to get turned to dust by some ancient trap? How do we know our destination is not guarded by an army of powerful dragonsss? How do we know that the moment we touch the sssstaff, we will not all be cursed into eternal damnation in Hell?" She sighs and says, "I am not trying to fearmonger nor am I scared of what the future might hold. That is not my point. My point is that rushing into a situation with next to no information about who or what we are involving ourssselves in is ruinous. I believe our encounter with the Elementalssss is evidence for this. I want to visit a nearby town ssso we can prepare and gain useful information on our misssion to prevent usss from running blindly to be slaughtered."
"As I am, I just hit one of those things with a Divine Smite...It barely reacted! That's dealing with one. We had 3! And if those are just some of the external scouts, which seem to have been triggered by our approach to said tower, being burnt to cinder would get us nowhere. Even if we had a divination or time wizard, I don't see us getting through them, let alone, the tower. We need to not only get more info, but we need to sharpen our skills, to be able to actually beat such things, to get back from...where ever this is..."

And what makes you think that anyone in some random mysterious town is going to have any more information on the tower than what what's-her-name from the caravan had? Leo listens carefully, knowing that he wasn't in charge, just here to help. "It's up to y'all if you want to head straight to the tower or not, but I have realised something. You original instructions regarding finding the tower won't really apply anymore. Well you were told to go south east or whatever at first, that was when you knew where you were, or at least this goddess did. Who knows where we've strayed off to in the flight from the elementals. The road moved once or twice during the battle, and when we asked it to provide a way out of the flames, it went all over the place. So now, we may need to go north, west, or maybe even still southeast! Also, careful calling us 'caravan fools'. Although it is actually rather comical the whole road situation, some of the strongest spellweavers travel with us, and not all of them take kindly to insults."

"Apologies Leo, we meant no offense, we just had our rears handed to us, twice to be honest, and we don't know where we are. Please excuse our manors at the moment, we are all a bit on edge at the moment." Xondario trys to play nice with their guide in hopes he doesn't just off and leave them. "We do appreciate you helping us navigate, even if it's just how to find our way around town."
Armeros makes himself take a deep breath to calm his annoyance. Xondario has the right idea, though he hates to admit it; if they are too honest, Leo will likely use his little trinket to abandon them.

Armeros, looking around, sees a large clearing full of 'clean' cut stumps. In a nearly straight path going through the clearing, the stumps have no rings. Judging by the width of this 'path', it's clear the road has been here many many times.
"We need something more than to just go to the tower. Doing that, brought us 3 fire elementals! And if there are earth, air, and water, as well? Maybe there's someMind Flayers, Liches, or Demiliches. I don't have any silver weapons, nor any that are magical. I'd like to know what I'm getting into, with hopefully some people that are more informed, and maybe get some better armor, weapons, and skills to put down such enemies."
