The crowd goes crazy at the idea of the Glass Dao being alive, and an old woman shouts "See! I told you I saw him! He's been roaming town in disguise!"

Thrudor furrows his brow and looks at the woman “Well that can be no crazier than what’s occurring here. You saw a child sized glass Dao fighting in the arena…certainly peculiar. We have vegetables dying and becoming poisonous, monsters in the fields, and a glass Dao fighting…..Well let’s investigate one odd occurrence at a time….let’s check out the fields first”

"W-what? He’s been in town?" Whisper stammers, her eyes wide with shock. The idea of the Glass Dao roaming among them, unnoticed, sends a chill down her spine. She steps closer the old woman, her voice urgent but still gentle. "How did you know it was him? What was he doing?" Insight on old lady: 13

"Yeah," she says when Thrudor speaks up, her voice quieter now, though a flicker of determination burns in her eyes. "One odd occurrence at a time. The fields...Oh, the specters! One of them told me...they are spirits that can't move on because of the statue, I think? I wonder if breaking it helped at all."

The old woman sighs. "I was in the arena and saw a warrior challenge him. The Dao's cloak burned off and revealed that he was in the shape of a humanoid adult with a body made of glass. He's been casually around town from the rumors I have. He tells people to not reveal that he was there, but he doesn't stop them from talking about it." The boy looks at Thrudor and comments "Follow me, I'll show you where the monsters come from."

Clapper, knowing full well that he can do better than this, will start playing one of his own songs. (Once he finishes the first.)

Thrudor looks at the stranger who destroyed a statue...."A statue? Where was this statue? The specters have been mostly kind and helpful to the farmers here.." Thrudor walks with the boy to the fields

"Inside the tunnels under the Specter Fields. I could show you the entrance, but that glass dao was really angry I destroyed it. Best not go near it...until I have a good rest at least." Perhaps with help it could be defeated. "Maybe most of them are, but some avoid or even attack farmers around there lately."

She follows Thrudor and the boy, wondering about these monsters and where they come from. "Oh, I'm Whisper, by the way."

Thrudor smiles “I am Thrudor. I’m a Druid in these parts…helping these folks farm and raise animals…hmm I can’t say how long I’ve been here, I’ve forgotten”

@ king orc the DC is 13. He takes 2 psychic damage and must subtract 1d4 from his next saving throw.

Edit: I got a 6 on the first roll. Changed it to spell psyhic correctly.

The king is pleased with your playing and is focusing on you, wondering how you know that song. Eventually he says "Would you like to sit down and eat with us?" The food includes several meats, breads, dairy products, salads, etc. No seafood, since there is so little water in this world.

The boy points to a cave entrance in the distance. "That cave hasn't always been there, I first noticed it last week. It has spiders in it, massive blue and white ones that can phase in and out."

The man clutches is head and stops running. He gets down on his knees and starts yelling "Alright! I'll talk! I'll talk! I'm with a thieves guild. They'll kill me if I reveal them, but their trying to kill the king's brother. The one inside the castle isn't the real king, he already fled to who-knows-where. The king's brother is in danger too."

Clapper is elated at the offer.
"Why I would love to sir. My name is Clapper. Howdy do!"

"Call me Your Majesty, not sir. But it's fine, I've only been the king for a few days now. Do try the sourdough rolls with sweet potato mash, it's my favorite. But I have to ask, how do you know the song our father used to play to us?"

Thrudor looks at Whisper and then back at the boy “Phase Spiders….and a new cave….this gets more peculiar with each passing minute”

"There have been monsters everywhere, only now someone is leading them into the city against their will. I don't know if it's an attack or a distraction."

Clapper is slightly embarrassed. Should've known better.
"Apologies for the oversight s- Your Majesty. I was friends with your father all those years ago."
Clapper looks thoughtful, 'remembering' all the times he'd spent with the previous king.
"HM!" He is elated at the sourdough. He enjoys he potatoes, but doesn't care for any potatoes in general.
"So, I was invited here by a barmaid. What's up with that? Did you hear about me or something?"

The king gives a pleasant laugh. "I was the king's brother for a while, so I hung out with the commoners. Of course as a noble, one higher than them, but since the Dao has lorded over the kings for so long I've always just felt like a commoner." He takes a bite of the sourdough before continuing, "So the maids are all loyal to the previous king, but he disappeared. So as costume, no maids were hired. She didn't want to work for any kind other than my brother, so I told her to at least find me something or someone of interest and suggest they see me, and maybe she'll change her mind. I like having lots of maids, so I'm trying to hire them all. Someone pass the apricots, please."

Clapper grabs and apricot as they pass.
"Hm. I can't say I understand completely. Our species are very different.
I'm still not sure why i'm here though."

"Kings and Nobles love to be constantly entertained. We don't like to work, we want people to work for us. I like to here music, so you are here because you are skilled at it." The king takes a slow drink of wine. "But you're right, you haven't been told the whole reason. Finish eating, you'll come back soon... probably. Follow the guards, they'll explain on the way." The king snaps his fingers, and a few guards walk up behind Clapper.
