Whisper hurries out of her hiding spot when Thrudor shows up, managing to hear him mutter something about sealing the cave. "Yes! D-do you know how to do that? And quickly would be good." She notices the gross clicking noises and odd dust clouds coming from the cave and pulls out her bow, not noticing Morgot yet.

A phase spider crawls out of the cave, sensing food. It's 8 feet tall and over a dozen feet wide, a strange combination of blue and white. It's not yet attacking, simply observing the creatures outside it's home.

"Gone? I'm not sure if he'll ever be 'gone'. And he's not a monster. He simply likes the sound of music. IS it that hard to believe that a 2 hundred foot long snake can have hobbies that don't include eating people? Besides, has he ever even harmed anyone?"
Clapper has never understood humans (and most species) and how quickly they can judge a book by its cover.

Whisper regards the phase spider, staying silent and still. She's encountered phase spiders on occasion before--never of this size, but still, it is much less frightening to her than the Glass Dao or the message from the plate.

"I can...try to talk to it, but I'm not the most persuasive."  She murmurs telepathically to Thruder, trying to recall anything about the spiders that might help. Nature: 8

“Hey now what’s all the fuss?  What’s going on here?  Did someone get trapped in the cave or what?”  Linos maneuvers around the people in the crowd using his natural halfling nimbleness.  As he gets near the mouth of the cave he retrieves his lantern oil & tinderbox, “Well let’s shed a little light on the subject!”

he can’t miss the hulking form of the phase spider… “wha.. wha.. what the @$<£##!!!”  Linos slowly sets down the lantern, dons his shield and readies his quarterstaff…

"I didn't realize he was that sentient..." The guards stop and listen to a harp being faintly played. The guards go an tell the king that the snake is taken care of.

Several other spiders start around the entrance, a gain mass of shrieking. Several spider begin phasing in and out of the world until there are 2 inside the entry way (1 on the ground and 1 upside down on the ceiling) 2 on the wall by the side of the entrance, and 7 surrounding the party with no entrance around them. They are all staring at the party, touching their underbellies to the ground then raising them up high in unison as if their version of a cult chant. Their legs are somewhat entangled so as to make not way for the party to escape.

Thrudor, Whisper, Linos, and Morogt have been herded into a space inside the  ring of spiders, which is a 30 foot diameter circle.

((Can Whisper understand any of the shrieking with Speak with Animals?))

The spiders are still continuing their bouncing movement, and you see a few more coming down from the high ceiling. They are slowly forming a cage out of webs, which currently as has only a few unconnected pillars of web.

"Whisper." The halfling ranger introduced herself with a somewhat forced smile to the two new faces trapped with them. "Maybe...All focus on one, make an opening to get away? They're called 'phase' spiders for a reason though."

“Call me Beans!”  Linos says to Thrudor, “And I’m pretty sure talking was never our way out of this mess!”  He says to Whisper.

Linos rages (bear) reckless attack 21 for 5 bludgeoning damage, sweeping the legs Con save DC 12 or prone.

You hit and bend a couple legs, damaging them. But there are enough legs spread out wide to keep standing. This annoys the spider, who strangely is not fighting back, but still bouncing like a cult and building the web cage. Instead, the spider lightly headbutts you, and you must make a DC 11 Dexterity Save or be pushed back 10 feet.

Linos’ stands his ground (Dex save 21) snarling as the spider try’s to shove him!

Suddenly, someone drops down onto one of the spiders, a masked Winter Eladrin with black-purple skin and white hair. The mask is a blue cloth covering all of the face, so you wonder how they can see. They're wearing thick blue clothing with a long cape and holding up a long-bow fashioned out of a pale root and spider silk. They mutter in elvish [click box if you speak it]

Whisper's eyes narrow at the strange Eladrin. "Is he the one they've been...bouncing about? He says are we prey or predators. I vote the latter!"

Bonus Action: hunter's mark on Eladrin

Action: Longbow to hit 28, damage 8 + 4 HM + 3 Dreadful Strike
