Denagon, to the left of the path, you see a plume of smoke rising from behind the trees. A small clearing is nearby, and around this fire (from which you found by spotting the smoke) is a small camp, with a couple hobgoblins dotted around it.
"Ah, Really? Well, if it's no trouble, we should keep walking. No need to be ambiguous if they are sanctimonious." Holth says offhandedly. He continues walking.
"Well wait just a minute! We had to clear the hobgoblins on the road, right? These guys ain't on the road. I mean Den said it'd be no trouble, sooo..." While talking he tries walking backwards, but after nearly tripping, he decides sideways is the better way to walk. "Hey, if they come to the road, you can always hit them with your divine light magic." He pauses. "By the way, how can you use your divine light magic?"
"Well I can approach them closer and loose an arrow. See if I can't get them to chase me back here for an ambush. Just in case there are more of them."
Woodchopper 2 begins his argument. "While these hobgoblins aren't on the road, yes, we will need to ensure they aren't the same breed of malevolence. I say an ambush would be smart." He takes his longbow off of his back, and Woodchopper 1 lifts his shortswords off of his hips once more.
"Ok, let's see if I can't get them to follow me out while you set the ambush."
Denagon will pull his short bow, and stealth to within 80 feet of the camp. His plan is to shoot into one of the Hobgoblin and make himself visible, leading them out of the camp to the others ambush site.
Can I clear something up? I'm unsure whether this arrow is being shot at a Hobgoblin to hurt it, or whether it's being shot near then to deliberately alert them.
Denagon will shoot one directly, after which he will make himself visible and pretend to run away. I assume as he gets closer he sees these are similar to the others (raiders?).
I'm confused, are you legitimately rolling? You've rolled crits go after go. Your rolls should look like this when writing them:[ roll]1d20+3[/roll ] except I've added spaces to make sure it doesn't roll. I suppose you are forgetting the 1d part, but I'm still really confused.
I just rolled using the dice roller here on the forum from the laptop.. There is no crit here, but 3 6s in a row on damage. I can also roll separately. NOte this attack should have been with advantage due to his assasin subclass....Here are a few more rolls to see what happens.
Well then, the hobgoblin you have aimed at is shortly on the floor, passed away, after the departure of your arrow. The other hobgoblins, four of them, start looking around for the origin of the arrow, and spot you in the foliage nearby (you have previously stated that you would make yourself visible after this shot). I will give you one round to fake a retreat or to hide or to have your party continue the ambush, your call.

Denagon,
Dengaon will tell the others what he sees. "I can only see a couple of the hobgoblins. Based on what I have seen it shouldn't be trouble."
"Ah, Really? Well, if it's no trouble, we should keep walking. No need to be ambiguous if they are sanctimonious." Holth says offhandedly. He continues walking.
"Oh they are just sitting? They don't see us eh? Hmmm Perhaps capturing and interrogating is the better way to go about this hmm?

"Ok ambush it is....but let's try to keep one alive to interrogate and find out where their base of operations is and how many of them there are yes?"

Holth will attempt to hide behind a tree with a big stick to, reluctantly, help with the ambush.
Didros will do the same
