You begin to plot what your next moves should be after the interviews, but before you can begin to put said plan into action, you begin to hear a ruckus form down the hall from the office you were occupying, to the point where the staff member accompanying you goes to see what the fuss is about.
On investigation, it seems someone has locked themselves in the home’s largest library, to the annoyance of several residents looking to enter. What’s more, you can hear odd noises from inside the room; the crack of wood, scrape of rubble, and a noise that sounds like a pickaxe against stone. Whatever excavation is occurring inside, you assume must have something to do with the traitor.
Abishai follows the staff member down the hallway, looks around, then asks, "Does anyone have a way to open this door?" A sly smile forms on his lips as he asks the question. He knows he can open it with a word of magic, but he allows for more mundane options first.
Waiting for the response, Abishai absentmindedly begins struming on his lute. His melody is soothing and provides anyone who attempts to open the door with some bardic inspiration (1d8) to do so.
{Don't know if that would work, since there are no mechanics for a horse kick from a centaur being stronger than a shoulder bash from a human, and she's not all that strong.}
Despite Abishai waiting for a mundane method, Wendell shows no such restraint. He walks over to the door and let's our a very loud knock while mentioning to his companions "I assume this means that the traitor is expediating their plans as they know we are onto them. Let's see if any of our guesses were right."
As Abishai jokingly toys with the idea of finding a way to bust down the door old-school style, Wendell simply pushes forward and unlocks it with his magic; the implications of this scenario mean that straightforward and easy solutions are the best way to go, even if it means sacrificing on some style.
The open door to the library reveals that the floorboards of the library have been torn up to reveal a forgotten hatch to what seems to be the old castle dungeon or cellar (those among the party with better memory might draw parallels to the basement the princess took shelter in from the story Qualksander gave when you first arrived!) Echoing out from the cellar is the feverish sound of chipping stone and digging; the haste of the actions seems to imply that you are correct in thinking that the traitor is moving fast to execute their plan now, as after the interviews, they probably think that you’re on to them.
Wendell sends his raven ahead to the tunnel while looking through it's eyes. He relays anything he sees to those around him out loud, but if they respond he doesn't hear it due to his senses being with the raven. (if anyone needs to get his attention, tap him on the shoulder. He would let you know that before the raven flies down)
As Silvosh offers to kick the door down, Abishai smiles and agrees, but before she can, Wendell takes the initiative. Watching Wendell work his magic on the door, Abishai gives a nod of approval. He looks over at Silvosh and shrugs his shoulders as if to say, well that's no fun, but without the words.
"Perhaps we should go down." He says as he looks at Abathax. The suggestion is clear he doesn't wish to be first down the hole, but is happy to take second position in the lineup.
Abathax waits a bit till Wendell relays some information before heading down the ladder; assuming it is save to do so.

"I can try to kick it in," offers Silvosh.

Silvosh looks at the hatchway, hoping she doesn't have to go down there. If she does, it's not going to be easy...
