13 Perception for if I hear anything or see anything as we hike to the castle.

"Wow... I never got any real training. But growing up an outcast gave me a unique perspective. I for most of my youth I saw the absolute worst sides of both humans and elves... and decided that no other child should have to. When I was 16, I traveled to Waterdeep and lived there for a while, until my vigilante activities caught the eye of a very powerful crime lord. So I left."  

"Sorry to hear that. At least you got some sort of childhood. I watched my dad beat my mom. When he was done, it was my turn. I was never fed or given water unless I finished my 8 hour day of chores. Then when I ran away at 7, it was 9 years of brutal training. I still have the scars from some of the exercises."

"That's awful, but I wouldn't say my life is more enviable. I grew up hated by both humans and elves due to my mixed blood. I never knew my parents because they abandoned me. Not even the orphanages wanted me around. In your case, it was just your father. I was treated like garbage by the entire city. When I finally stood up for myself, I was thrown out on the streets. We're more alike than i thought, Jakob. But seriously, how was I to know the mugger I beat up actually worked for Xanathar!" 

Jakob cringes, "Yikes. Xanathar? Wonder you're still alive. Now that I have the mutations," he points to his cat-eyes, "I am hated and treated like garbage. I get spit on and whatever contract I take, they try to lower the amount after I bring them the monster's head, all cause I am a mutant. That's alright, Mikhael. Someday... we are going to be heroes. Gonna save people."

((Now I die after my "heroic" monologue lol))

"Well then, let's hurry to Rivenroar. Those captives are in dire need of heroics." 

"Sharing our tales of woe?  Shall I enthrall you with the story of how I was framed for the murder of my wife?"

"Would telling the story ease your burden, even just a little? If the answer is no, and the tale would reopen old wounds, then I wouldn't advise it." 

OOC: Mikhael is just gonna end up being everyone's therapist. 

*** Following this trail what is our marching order? Just for my sake, and maybe DMs? Aka'ula is definitely in the back, he moves a little slow and he's a tracker, he's trying to make sure we don't miss anything.

Kalman will be second or third. He can take a hit, but wants to fight at range.  He'll keep helping to track.

Survival: 11

Mikhael's somewhere in the middle. He's got good AC but he's ultimately a range caster. 

Balin has High AC and is primarily a melee attacker.  1st or second.

To make a long story short, you successfully follow the hobgoblin war trail back to the ruins of castle Rivenroar. The castle itself is in a terrible state of disrepair, with only one wall still standing. After a thorough investigation of the site you discover what appears to be an entrance into an underground mausoleum.

Mikhael's gonna attempt tracking as insurance. He's better at urban environments though.

Survival: 3

Nevermind: Mikhael will actually say  "Who here needs a light source, before we enter the depths? Medskan, do you sense Undeath or Demonic power from the crypt?" 

There is definitely evidence that the hobgoblins entered the mausoleum, and the door to the crypt is wide open.

"I will be in need of a good light source." The Tortle looks about the group.

"Let me see your spear really quick. Won't take a minute."

Kalman confirms the obvious, "I do not see well in darkness either.  I will stay near Aka'ula if you're going to give him light."

While we are outside the castle, Kalman will scan to try and spot any sentries.

Perception: 22

He produces his spear laying atop both his open hands. In a friendly 'passing of the sword' type of display.
