The ship travels another towards the white rocky shores of whale bones and the Captain orders the sails hauled in except for the small sprit sail to provide just enough forward movement to keep steering. Soon one of the crewmen announce “ Ship Ho! 35 degrees off the port bow!”
the Captain pops out his glass and can see it is a merchant ship. A large one, ams also hailing from Calimshan. Fairly odd coincidence. He notices the ship os anchored off one of the islands so he steers the ship in between two of the larger islets, a couple miles away from the merchant.
the order to weigh anchor is given and The Bosun directs all officers and mates to the Captain’s quarters.
"Aye, Captain," Eclipse answers, as he thinks he hears a thin sound winding down from above. "I'll be right there..."
Kel's knees would wobble a bit as he felt the boat jeer away from the whirlpool, he would be gripping onto the pole of the place he stood, he would be crying out, he was clearly to scared to come down.
"Kel!," Eclipse shouts. "Kel! You look paler than any reptile should ever look. Hold on!"
The agile tabaxi quickly ascends the netting to the crow's nest and casually rests his arms on its circumference. "Don't worry, we've weighed anchor. The ship will steady in moments." He calls down to one of the sailors to come up and relieve Kel on watch. After the kobold has made it down to the deck, Eclipse ribs him good-naturedly. "I suggest you leave the heights to the birds and us cats and spiders," he winks. "There's no one up there to hear your lute at any rate." With a last smile, he turns, his features fall into a serious mask, and he makes his way to the Captain's quarters. As ordered, yes, but also, to sate his own curiosity. What has the master of the ship in mind following the whirlpool and after sighting the Calimshan merchantman, he wonders.
Kel after a while amde his way down to the bottom, he would be huffing a puffing, who knew it would be heights that got to him on the seas, he wanted to pull his weight on the ship.
In the Captains cabin and laid out on his desk is a map of the whale bones rocks and islands showing the many small and larger land forms that make up this dangerous patch of water.
He has two small ship models he uses to show relative positions, the one representing the gallows dancer is placed where you are anchored, between two smallish yet high peaked islands and the one representing the merchant ship is nestled a few miles across the chain and is sitting anchored by the larger island with the highest peak, labeled on the map as the “ Harpy’s Breast” giving some indication as what sort of critters may be found there, unless its just a colorful name given by pirates.
Captain Naraan will speak up, “ Well friends, fortune has either smiled on us today or has stabbed us in the backside. This here merchant vessel is flying the flag of Calimsport, and if a true flag than it likely will make a beautiful score for such as ourselves. If the flag be false, good in fact be a trap. Our good friend and Patron, Master Thagal here has offered to send his vulture pal to snoop and maybe sniff out the truth of it. Either way, we make ready to launch the skiffs with boarding parties. We will row out to get a better position to plan the ship assault. “
He will point to a few routes through the islands Near to harpys breast island or even onto it depending on what information the vulture can glean.
” bosun, have the crew lower the skiffs and prepare the necessaries for setting up on shore and for attack.” He will dismiss everyone and Him and Thagal will head topside to send Goermond. its will take goermond 3 to reach the boat

Thagal using the eyes of the vulture Goermond can see the entire upper deck which seems to be vacant at the moment. Not even a swabby. Thagal has him take his true form to sneak about below deck to search for good intel in the captain’s cabin and cargo hold if possible.

As the vulture changes shape he slips from the boom and slams onto the deck with a thud. He can hear someone coming up the stairs from below to check the noise.
Goermond will try and hide under some ropes near the mast. Stealth 18.
Peeking out from the rope coil, Goermond/ Thagal can see the Calamite sailor with dark skin, baggy trousers and a linen vest with no undershirt peek out from the gangway, barely stepping foot on the deck giving it a once over before heading back down the stairs. After several moments Goermond follows ever so quietly, slipping down the stairs unheard and unseen.
“No one on deck?” Eclipse tries to picture the stupidity or else calamity that have resulted in this state of affairs. “What better moment could there be to take them unaware and defenseless.” He turns to Hotep. “We should waste no time. At minimum we can pull abreast undetected.” His eyes shine, reflecting the gold he imagines in hand by days end.
Hotep will acknowledge Eclipses enthusiasm, but say” could be easy pickings, or could a nasty surprise. It is highly unusual for ship at anchor on foreign shores to not have crew on deck for security and for maintenance. There is never nothing to do on ship. Get the small boats in the water and equipped, ready for launch. Soon as Mr Thagal’s minion finishes his survey we will know the course.”
Goermond slips into invisibility as he traverses down into the middle level. He can see a large number of crew milling about, all armed and seemingly waiting around for orders. He slips into the captain’s cabin, which is quite luxurious. This ship must be a rich one. On the captain’s table he spies a small map being held open with paper weights, which he snatches up just before two sailors enter the cabin for moment, giving it a quick inspection before leaving again. Goermond waits a moment before also leaving the cabin. He quickly looks for the ladder to the hold and makes his way to the ladder there. Peeking his head down inside he can see the hold is nearly empty except for food and standard supplies. There are also several empty crates that look brand new and open, like they are ready to be filled..
Thagal order’s Goermond back to the ship and relinquishes his vision sharing.
The Captain gathers the officers again to discuss the basic plan. The boats are in the water, equipped and rdy with several red shirted sailors to accompany the officers on this venture.

“Aye, Mr. Hotep,” Eclipse answers, and though never in a good mood when in receipt of orders, finds men to accomplish the lowering and readying of boats. Although he prefers to leave the real work to others to do, he realizes that he himself will likely be on board one of the boats and so careful draws his eyes along the lines of both vessels, searching for anything amiss before returning to the captain’s cabin to report the boats ready.
"What would you like me to do sir!" The kobold would ask the captain, they where earnest and wanted to help in all endeavors.
The Captain will ponder his answer a moment, and then say “ you will be accompanying Master Thagal in boat 2. Make sure he has what he needs for this expedition on board. Soon as the vulture returns with the map we will know the next action. A little guy like you is always helpful on these missions”
Throgg hears the captain giving Kel his orders and walks over.
“Throgg joins little music friend, Kel. I sneaky when needs sneaky, I small when Kel goes to small places, and I fight good when punching time happens. Throgg helps keep new friend safe.”
Hearing this kel would get nervous before looking back up and seeing throgg, knowing he would be accompanied by this strong companion he knew he would be safe. He would give a small whiff of acknowledgment before running off to go make preparations for the captain.
he motioned for throgg to help kel get things ready.

“If I’ve any say,” Eclipse offers, “I’ve a mind to lead the launch with the bugbear Throgg.” Eclipse does not know all the men yet and wouldn’t trust most of them in a dark alley much less to back him up in a pinch. He wants the strongman in his boat to be someone he trusts.
Kel would return carrying a bag on his back, it was stuffed with some supplies needed for this mission, including rope, rations (kel's own) (if they got hungry), his lute, and anything else they might need.

“Yes, Eclipse good friend too. Throgg likes fighting when friends are around. We all fight and sneak and get lots of items to bring back!”
