As the sun begins to set, and you all have been getting familiar with each other and the ship you hear the all hands bell being wrung and all the crew below decks head topside.
Kels crew pulls in 200 jumbo shrimp. These will go great on skewers or in a gumbo.
Hotep yells out, “ great catch fellows. The Sea goddess has truly blessed the Gallows Dancer. Now its time for setting up watch for the night. 4 hours per crows nest shift starting now. The new cook Zerk will have the meals ready within the hour”
you all watch as Zerk springs into action, getting the cod to the cleaning station where the lower crew mates get to gutting. You might notice they do not toss the innards, but those go into a special barrel. Soon s the fish are cleaned they are hauled into the galley. All the shrimp are left whole and put into barrels filled with salt water and taken below to cargo hold.

"Kel! You found the mother lode! Captain, let our musical friend take the helm tomorrow? Mayhap the nets will be heavy laden with sunken treasure! His golden touch extends beyond his lute!!," the tabaxi's cheerful tenor rings out for all to hear. It's obvious that he's kidding about taking the wheel, but just as plain that he's excited for the kobold's -- and the crew's -- good luck. "Three cheers for Kel!"

Kel wasn't used to cheer but felt excitement as he stretched his arms up and jumped a few times, his mouth savored for a skewer of jumbo shrimp, his cheeks went red from the embarrassment of being the smallest with the luckiest catch. "I-it was just luck-"
“It’s a feast for sure tonight! But Throgg is confused why you call these jumbo… they are so tiny still. Even to little friend Kel these are small.” Shaking his head he still smiled back at Eclipse’s exuberance.
The Bosun calls out the watch schedule for this night.
“ Mr. Eclipse will take first watch in the crows nest, he can eat dinner at the end of shift. Our fine musician and tonight’s net master Kel and throgg can share the 2nd shift, one on deck an the other in the crows nest, and the cook Mr Zerk shall take third watch. Myself will round out the morning watch. Keep a keen eye. First to spot prey wether ship or critter earns bonus in the rewards.”
“Friend Kel and Throgg will keep watch together! Kel can take up high views and Throgg will take deck views. Maybe Kel can play some music while watching.”
Kel plays some music as the chow bell is wrung and Zerk serves some fish and chips with everyone’s portion of rum ( the poor quality Luskan variety, but it gets the job done)
morale is high. And the weather holds with favorable winds and clear skies.
Eclipse climbs up to the crow’s nest without effort. His claws give him added purchase and security on the ascent, and he stops every dozen feet or so to test his balance as the Gallows Dancer breaks across the modest swells. Perfectly at home standing tiptoe on the edge of the crow’s nest when he arrives, he shouts down, “I can see you crewman, going for seconds! The bosun’s mate’ll be eating his meal after first watch and he’ll have words with you if there’s nothing left in the pot!” It’s in good fun. The tabaxi wasn’t hungry yet at any rate…

1st watch is uneventful. The sun dips into the ocean for a good nights rest and the stars and moon take their places illuminating the gently swelling ocean with a millions sparkles. Eclipse feels wonderful in the cool air and the magical view from the crows nest. He could see for miles and there was nothing but the waters in every direction.
once the watch is finished, he is able to trade off with Kel who can easily scamper up the rope ladder to replace him. Once on deck he can see Throgg has taken up his patrol on the deck, checking the sails and lines a he goes. You can smell the fired cod and potatoes awaiting you in the galley.

“All hands,” says Eclipse, in case anyone could not hear the bell. “Let’s go. Everyone topside!” He walks up with Throgg and Kel expectantly.

Kel was so shocked at his catch, he had never eaten Jumbo Shrimp the master always made the kobolds eat scraps of the bad fish they didnt like.
