Gelidus nods and starts moving to the other door, passing the room filled with insects with a disgusted face. When they get to the door, they wait for their team, mace ready in hand in case things get messy.
You coordinate your arrival, Gelidus entering from the western door as the rest of the party comes in from the southern door.
The kobold appears busy, melting away some sort of metal. As you sneak up, Portia tries to grab the kobold, who ducks at the last minute and scrambles out of the way as Dragen also tries to grab the little creature.
"Hey, who are you and why are you here? Pickups are outside, you don't come in, you ..." it pauses, as it notices it's dead kin in the room to the south. "Interlopers!" it screams and pulls out a dagger and a small vial, looking to each door. "Leave now and I won't burn your flesh off!" it says, threatening to throw the vial at Portia.
[The kobold is ready to fight or perhaps flee. Let me know if you want me to roll initiative or if you want to try to talk, or something else! We may still roll initiative and go person by person!]
The kobold looks from Dragen to Portia and shrugs, then he turns quickly to Gelidus, to make sure they haven't moved closer. "Other kobolds take gold. Thats their job. My job is to glit. My job very important," you detect a hint of pride in its voice.
The kobold thinks for a moment.
Noticing your glances towards the chest on the table. The church's chest, it adds, "that gold is gone, off to the pickup point. Givma delivers that" at which point he attempts to look past you, possibly to see if Givma is amongst the dead kobolds, but again shrugs, unsure. "I take Kobold payment, I Goldglit it. Now kobolds have lots of coins."
"I will give you coins to leave. How much do you want? I have a few of the plats..." it says.
[feel free to give me an investigation or perception roll with your next response ... as far as what you can deduce from this room/kobold at a glance.]
The kobold watches Dragen circle but doesn't do anything more. Dragen notices that the chest is open, and empty. Various coins are scattered about the table or in small bowls.
Portia, you notice that the coins on the table are laid out in an orderly manner in rows and columns. They appear to be gold coins, though they glisten, as if wet. Additionally, there is a bowl full of a gold liquid, and a few sets of tongs next to the bowl. The tips of the tongs are coated with different colors, silver, copper, gold. The tongs with the gold are also wet.
Various jars of powers or herbs are on the table.
"I turn copper coins into gold! I turn silver coins into gold! I turn gold coins into more gold coins! Whatever coins the others bring me, I glit them and then make more valuable."
[The kobold points at the furnace and then the table when they mention glit. You assume that the coins are being melted, and then through some process, the melted coins metal is coated onto other coins of lesser value.]
The kobold seems to relax a bit when you sheath your swords. He also doesn't react when you mention counterfeiting, so it's unclear if he knows that word, or if he does and it doesn't faze him.

"There don't seem to be any other Kobolds around, this should be easy," Gelidus thinks out loud.
"I can come through the other door in case it tries to escape."
"Ok, that should help."

Dragen nods "And if he does get by you we can skip past as well, so no downside"
Gelidus nods and starts moving to the other door, passing the room filled with insects with a disgusted face. When they get to the door, they wait for their team, mace ready in hand in case things get messy.
Portia slowly opens the door again. She nods to Dragen and they both charge the kobold, attempting to grab it.

(Would Dragen give the help action or do I roll my own grapple?)
Either works, you can roll a grapple and we can take the highest of yours and Portia's, then i'll update a post.

Portia holds her hands up, empty. "Wait! we don't want to fight, we prefer to talk!"

He looks past you as you speak, at the room to the south. He lowers the flask slightly.
"Stay. Don't move!" he looks over at Gelidus, "You too, don't move. What? What do you want? Why do you attack us?"
"You stole from our client" Dragen interjects gruffly
"We didn't attack you, they attacked us! We just defended ourselves."
"And, as he says" she nods at Dragen "you stole our client's gold."

Dragen circles the room, keeping one eye on the kobold while it talks. He looks over the chest to see what's missing.
