I believe our DM made a few modifications, but it's been fun to play. We've also been playing the board game scenarios at the appropriate places in the narrative.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Boff's common tongue and the rest of the characters' common tongue originated on different game worlds.
How I see that unfolding during play ...
Upon their entry to Ravenloft, Alaric, Gooterat and Rats found that the common tongue of the Forgotten Realms, Thorasta, is spoken somewhat differently and is called Vaasi here.
Upon his entry to Ravenloft, Boff will eventually discover that his Krynn-based common tongue is spoken in these lands as well ... as a language called Falkovnian.
For the purposes of not making the game overly-complicated (or worse ... not fun), let's just say that when these outlander characters (Alaric, Boff, Gooterat, and Rats) speak to one another ... they can make themselves known without issue.
Between the folks with different homeworlds, accents and what-not will be strong, but the characters will always be able to convey their meaning.
Forgotten Realms common and Dragonlance common will share enough in — well — common ... that these characters can hold a conversation without any undue mental gymnastics.
This deal extends between players and their characters only. Ravenloft natives speaking Vaasi do not share a tongue in common with Boff, just as Ravenloft natives speaking Falkovnian do not share a tongue in common with Alaric, Gooterat, or Rats. Through their gestures, body language, and tone ... the 'gist' of a communication can be inferred ... but it might not be perfect.
Sorry for the lack of posts y'all. My kid got pretty sick this past week. He's good now but I have some life catchup to do. I'll be able to post tomorrow after I read what's been happening.

The removal was due to inactivity.
I thought I had mentioned the reason in the quoted post, but upon re-reading I realized that I did not specify the reason.
The player had been absent for two weeks from the IC and a PM sent a week ago to check in also went unanswered.
Feel free to narrate this sort of stuff in the IC without using dice.
No need, in other words to roll dice against one another.
Also ... Re: Languages

Understood. I wasn't going to prolong the obstacle, just hold it for long enough to establish Boff's foreignness.

^^ Totally. I think the language thing has been played well so far.
I wasn't hinting that things should be changed ... just letting all the players know where my head is at.

Real life always comes first. Thank you very much for the heads up.
Hey gang, I’ll be traveling without my laptop for the next three days.
I’ll be able to check in with my phone, but formatting and typing out large posts without a keyboard is a pain in the neck.
Once I get back I’ll be able to jump back into this on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
