Backstory: Harold's departure from the monastery for military service was due to an external threat requiring his participation in the defense of his community. All able-bodied individuals, regardless of their monastic commitments, were called upon to bear arms to protect their people from invaders and warring factions. This was a difficult decision, creating a conflict between his spiritual vows and his duty to his society. In the end, he was trained then released as the opposing sides came to a peaceful agreement.
Personality: Despite a somewhat dour and reserved outward demeanor, Vivith is fiercely independent, strong-willed, and rebellious. Nothing matters more to her than her own freedom, but she is equally committed to promoting and preserving the freedom of others to determine for themselves their own path through life. She considers it her divine calling to help others, if only by giving them the physical and emotional healing necessary to keep on living in the manner of their own choosing. She is darkly cynical about her divine powers, often acknowledging with understated, morbid humor the frailty of life and the finality of death. Mindful as she is about the inevitability of ultimate defeat, she is not afraid to put herself at risk, even against seemingly insurmountable odds.
Description: Vivith possesses the innate beauty and haughtiness of all high elves, but rarely deigns to reveal it. Her icy blue eyes are haunted by having witnessed far too much pointless suffering, debilitating pain, and inevitable death in the world. She rarely smiles, except in rueful acceptance of the ultimate futility of life. Her limbs and torso are full with muscle, and she carries herself proudly erect. Dark, jet black hair frames her lightly freckled face, and falls in stark contrast over the white trim of her thick mail armor. She holds a shield and sword with confidence and grace, sullenly resigned to dealing out harm as readily as healing it.
Backstory: Vivith was born under an auspicious sign that her deeply religious elven enclave interpreted as evidence of her divine destiny. From birth, Vivith was treated with honor and deference as a chosen child of the gods. As a toddler, she was praised and pampered until she reached a point in early childhood when she was deemed worthy to ascend to sacred isolation in meditation and communion with the gods alone. Vivith was moved out of her family home and town at a tender age, and installed in a small but exquisite temple atop the highest hill overlooking her town. She lived there all alone, expected to devote her every moment to service of the gods. Local priests and priestesses from town would make the trek once a week to provide her food and offerings and tokens of devotion. And townsfolk would pilgrimage to her shrine to desperately beseech her healing hands for their illnesses or injuries, to beg for her words of comfort or guidance in their misfortune or misery, or to request her divine blessing in exchange for their grief or sorrow.
Young as she was when all this began, Vivith barely understood what was happening to her. She grew increasingly lonely, restless, angry, and resentful at her forced isolation and presumed sanctity. Of course, she displayed evidence of divine blessing, providing words of help and healing as requested. But she felt increasingly stuck, stunted, and stifled by such an abnormal -- and abusive -- childhood experience. In her early adolescence she made her first attempt at escape, but was immediately caught by the temple guards. To her horror, she realized that all the while she had believed herself alone, she had in fact been under secret surveillance the whole time. She was not allowed to leave.
Vivith grew increasingly angry at the hopelessness of her religious entrapment, and as she grew older she grew stronger. Her powers blossomed into her young adulthood until she knew one day that she would break out, escape the lonely temple, and leave her childhood behind her forever. The guards were unable to stop the sheer force of her will to be free, and Vivith finally escaped, fled to make her own way in the world, and never looked back. She did however carry within her the divine powers of her blessed birth, but now she was determined to use them on her own terms and never to allow herself to be caught and trapped and tamed ever again.
He/Him. I am the DM, you are the player. You make the mistakes and I decide the consequences. Now, with that being said - Are you SURE you want to cast Fireball?
