Lucas not only hadn't flinched, but with brows furrowed and a frown in his voice he answered, "An interruption, clearly. But beyond that, I'm here because there's been a development and I need answers. Some... adventuring types have supposedly discovered our location and are meaning to take 'it'." As he mentioned the word 'it', Lucas remained especially attentive to the mage's thoughts in hopes the word might trigger something.

From the roiling - and somewhat disturbing thoughts - of the Duegar Mage, Lucas/Saluc is able to pick up two things: 1. A concern that the imposters whoever they are may know about the planned raid on the Svirfneblin mining community 2. That the Duegar Mage can use Oalimnifuno’s powers to flush out the disguised individuals before the Mage turns to Lucas/Saluc and says “who are you and more importantly who sent you?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Saluc let out a huff of frustration, and then raised brow in a look that said 'You really wanna do this?'But before the Duergar Mage could read too much into the look. "Saluc, not that you ever cared to remember, and will probably forget after this meeting. Again. Either way, I am here of my own volition. Now, if you are quite done interrogating /me/, can you not focus on the greater concern? Is the rod still secured? If not, it would be best to go there now -- your business with this Oalimnifuno can wait."
In response to Lucas/Sulac’s greeting the Duegar Mage responds “And may the Spider Queen smile upon you as well Saluc. I am Grotenelle Stonecutter and have the privilege of being this facility’s high summoner and as you can see from that creature over there, quite a successful one. You have referred to a rod, may I ask which rod you are referring to?”

Saluc raises a brow, and just for a moment, stayed silent as he tried to gauge if the mage's question had been a test or something more genuine.
-Insight: 21. (if at adv. from Detect Thoughts being active, here's the other roll: 11.
Depending on what he's able to glean in the moment, Saluc is either as brisk as ever in answering plainly with "The Rod of Seven", OR if uncertain or assured that the truth might lead to more trouble than not, he'd sigh and say, "Apologies, High Summoner. It would seem I... erred. You would not have summoned that... creature if not busy with your own matters. I will enlist others and confirm all is well with it."

From Grotenelle’s thoughts it is clear that the Duegar has a very vague recollection of an item called the Rod of Seven Parts but knows no more than that! He does wonder why a fellow Duegar would be looking for it but then decides it is none of his business. The Glabrezu watches the interaction between Lucas/Sulac with interest.
Lucas then hears a deep rumbling - but soothing - voice in his mind “what would you be prepared to trade for knowledge of a part of the so-called Rod of Seven parts”
Fortunately, it took "Saluc" conscious effort to show emotion, so nothing registered on his face as he turned to rejoin the others. But, he had paused in step to side-eye the Glabrezu, and in that moment tried to form a psionic link. But when that fails he just shakes his head, then turned fully to face the creature and crossed his arms. "I must say High Summoner, before I depart, the creature you summoned looks to be quite the impressive specimen, but difficult to compel I imagine. You wouldn't happen to be planning to bargain with some souls with it? Because I can't imagine that being sustainable." He says, pretending to ask Grotenelle a question while giving the Glabrezu a meaningful look. "But false promises of freedom to wreck havoc though? Now that might be something manageable under the right circumstances."
(OOC: I was partially waiting to see what came of Lucas double talk with the Glabrezu, but moving on at this point)
Once self-assured none had followed (see perception check below) after returning to the others, Lucas lets out a tired yet relieved sounding sigh. "There'll be no bargaining with the duergar, 'less the intent is to bullshit'em with blackmail. And I very much doubt that'll land the way we want given how stubborn dem stoneheads can get." He explained. "But, I see us work'n somethin out with the demon, if'n, uhh, ya'll don't mind it biting us in the ass not long after. 'cause in case ya haven't dealt with'em before, even the most mild mannered of'em crave destruction, and have few qualms going back on a deal if'n there's nothing in place to stop'em."
Lucas began massaging his forehead. "I'll leave it up to ya'll, but I'd decide quick. Don't think the demon can read minds, but it can certainly got some form of telepathy going for it. And if'n it thinks it can't get freedom through us, odds are it'll try and sell the duergar on killing us all the same. And see'n the old **** is paranoid about traitors already, I don't imagine it'll take much to push'em just that little bit further."

In response to the Lucas thoughts about ‘promises of freedom’ he merely hears the word “imprisoned really?” being asked in a very questioning tone in his head.
How exactly does the party want to respond to Lucas’ plan?
”I have no interest in bargaining with a demon. If we can’t talk our way past the residents here, let us fight our way through them,” responds Corwyn, his grip tightening on the hilt of his Elven Curved Blade.

Torunn nods in agreement with Corwyn, "I concur, making deals with those ilk never bodes well. If we have to fight we fight, but maybe we can keep the Duergar alive to question at the end?"
As Lucas is conferring with the party he hears in his head the voice again “I see you are conferring with your companions about my offer. I can talk to them directly if you would prefer?”
Being no stranger to holding two conversations at once, so long as one was via the mind, Lucas expression remained unchanged as spoke one thing to the party, but said another the Glabrezu.
To the party: "Eh, suit yerselves. Ain't like I got the mojo to properly fool everyone here with mr. tincan and the bull here. At least.. not fer long. And, uh, I wouldn't count on us have'n a lot of time to question'em. Whole place got the feel of things spiraling out of control right quick."He admitted. ".. Oh, and the demon wants to reach out to ya'll."
To the demon: "If you can, do as you wish. I ain't gonna stop ya. But I'd suggest bring yer A-game on whatever sales pitch ya wanna give'm."
