Thousands of years ago, civilisation collapsed. The gods retreated from the world, and Hecate, goddess of magic, forced strange changes upon certain spells, making the words of the ancients unreadable, even with magic. Since then, the world has rebounded. Civilisations once again thrive. The gods are distant, but they've begun to slowly reemerge. And the ruins of the ancients are being uncovered. They are very, very profitable.

The Hook
An as-of-yet mostly unexplored dungeon has captured your character's interest for whatever reason. Maybe they are a slave, forced into a dangerous job as a disposable body. Maybe they're looking for glory or gold. Maybe they are an intrepid researcher who wants to piece together the ancients' culture. Regardless, you're here because of the local lord, Taross of Eldewick. He's sponsored you, given you the proper permits and papers (and perhaps brands...), and told you to meet up in the village of Aben Laom. He's promised someone will meet you there with an advance payment and a contract, but has kept you in the dark about the identities of your forced compatriots...
What I'm Looking For
I'd like y'all to create Level 2 characters. You have some relevant experience, but you've only really taken up this whole 'adventurer' thing pretty recently after all. 2024 Rules. Please use Milestone; level-ups won't be rare. Just roll basic equipment. Either Point Buy or rolled stats (no rerolls of ones) are fine. I hope for y'all to check the thread 2-3 times a day. Arrows, rations, etc. should be tracked while in the dungeon.
Character Name:
Species/Class (Subclass):
Background:
Backstory (Not super long, please):
Why your character is coming to the dungeon (1-2 sentences):
If there are multiple groups, would you like to play in the same world or a parallel one?:
Housekeeping (Is it too early for that?)
I'm down to run this campaign with multiple groups (~3-5 per maybe) if interest is there. I'd like to say that we'll depart for the dungeon next week, by the 23rd, but if enough people continue to show interest, I'm not against keeping this open for longer.
Spell Changes
Commune with Nature treats the inside of a dungeon as a natural, underground environment, despite it having been artificially constructed. Buildings inside a dungeon may still be treated as artificial, depending on if the building is in (or recently has been) use.
Spells such as Comprehend Languages fail to work on text within the dungeon, and creatures with knowledge of the distant past can't be compelled to divulge any information of that time, even while under the influence of Zone of Truth or a similar spell.
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(oh sorry, nothing was said originally so I did reroll 1s once... I'll roll a new set)

Backstory: "I tell you I'm not a thief!" He exclaims. "I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person." I knew I shouldn't of hung out with her. She was bad news. But, I did, and now I'm stuck.
Why your character is coming to the dungeon: He is being forced by the the chief of a nearby village since he was caught in a place he should not have been with a valuable item stolen and my 'friend' is no where to be found.
If there are multiple groups, would you like to play in the same world or a parallel one?: I'm good with either, but the idea of the same world and the possibility of interaction IS interesting.
Class: Fighter 1/Rogue 1 (Will go Champion and Thief subclasses later)
Background: Custom
Reason for Adventuring: Kathleen lives for exploring the world and dungeon diving. So she's coming to the dungeon just for the joy of exploration.
Very shortened Backstory (Can give a more detailed one on request): Kathleen was the firstborn princess of an elven kingdom far away. In that royal family, the women were expected to handle courtly affairs, be learned in history, magic and etiquette, be graceful, prim and proper. Kathleen herself though was the type to spend all day playing outside and mingling with commoners. After she grew up, the king and queen sent her to attend a very important ball in a neighboring kingdom to both try to chain her into courtly affairs and to enhance political relations between kingdoms. However her entourage was ambushed en route to the destination and her guard were killed. Her uncle was part of the group but she doesn't know what happened to him. Kathleen got severely wounded and was left unconscious in the mud because the attackers thought she was dead. She survived though and after hiding out in the forest long enough to recover from her wounds, she headed out in order to explore the world like she always wanted to. She took the name "Kathleen Burnes" after her favorite fictional character who is a human adventurer going to dungeons and getting into all sorts of action-filled adventures in her stories.
EDIT: Forgot to mention what I think of different groups being in the same or different world: While in concept sharing a same world is cool, I think it would be a nightmare in practice. Imagine we start doing things that directly or indirectly effect the scenario in the other. The amount of time it would take to resolve things would slow the game down to a crawl. So yeah I'm voting different world.
Background: Took the magic initiate background feat
Backstory (Not super long, please): trying to see where he fits in the world...
Why your character is coming to the dungeon (1-2 sentences):Just trying to make a living heard there was an opportunity to go underground... so decided to go see what treasure could be found
If there are multiple groups, would you like to play in the same world or a parallel one?: open to either... are the groups racing twds the same goal? do we know of each other? if we found each other in the same room in the dungeon do we nod at each other as we pass by, or are we trying to kill them...parallel world would likely be easier on the GM
