( Just for reference, this is my first Play-by-post thread, and I'm pretty new to the forums as well, so if I'm being stupid (which is bound to happen) just be patient with me. )
The story is pretty simple.
In the small and unremarkable village of Gamurund, the people were happy and lived simple lives. One day, there was a mysterious green fire that spread through the entire village. Nothing burned, but when the fires stopped, in their place was a green fungus mold. No matter how the people tried, they could not remove it. The mold spreads tiny spores every day, and slowly the people are becoming more and more like zombies. Is there a way to stop this evergreen Fungus?
(I came up with this on the fly so yay me)
Also, if you're a good DM and would like to be the DM here, that could probably be arranged.
Are you offering to DM the Evergreen Fungus game and recruiting players?
As @Wysperra said, you probably want to include some additional details. What type of campaign is it? Hack-and-slash dungeon crawl, an urban heist, solving a mystery, etc.? If you're thinking of a homebrew world, what type of world (see Flavors of Fantasy)? How much will the game emphasize role play, exploration, puzzle solving, and combat? Will it be entirely theater of the mind (TotM) or do you plan to post maps for exploration and combat? 2014 or 2024 rules? Any specific house rules or restrictions that you plan to implement?
As you can see, most DMs / recruitment posts get more than 5 or 6 applicants, so you'll want to think about what information you'll want from people to decide which players to choose for the party. Some DMs want to see a fully built character on D&DB. Some just want class / race / and a 3-sentence backstory and want to hold a "session 0" to work with the selected players to finish building out their characters. A few DMs have asked for some additional information (e.g., funniest thing that happened in a RPG that you played) just to get a sense of who the prospective players are.
It may be helpful to read the first post in the PbP Rules and FAQ, Please Read First! thread. Or take a look at the style of some of the other recruitment threads. Here's a variety of recruiting posts for inspiration:
He/Him. I am the DM, you are the player. You make the mistakes and I decide the consequences. Now, with that being said - Are you SURE you want to cast Fireball?
Backstory: She is called by many names, Shamon, Witch of the Woods, but mostly she is the one people go to for healing and remedies. She had gone on a journey and just recently returned to her home a few miles from town, when she learns of what happened.
Am I allowed to use Bugbear race? Or... any other races and classes from other source books?
...yes? I mean I don't really mind

*So uh what play method are we using? I suggest reroll ones once, as the dnd beyond dice are finicky (My first 6 to stat rolls was on dnd beyond), and right now I've seen that 2024 and 2014 mixing is allowed, so uh yeah*
Gosh, in all honesty, I have no idea what I'm doing. But I'm fine with any character and any homebrew races and stuff. I don't know how many players I should have but tbh probably no more than 5 or 6, I think.

I honestly have noooo ideas, hehe. Reroll ones once is probably good... Are you interested in joining?
The great Silver Dragon Lord of the Sky, Second in Command of the Dragon Cult, Warlock of Cyno, and Cultist of Jeff. I have a lot of allegiances… I use He/They pronouns and you can usually find me on the Camp Half-Blood thread in Adohands Kitchen.

Players:
GR-Mustang, ChronicApathetic, Bananer24086, tarasque2897, rafflmandel
Any players welcome, this is probably more of a short adventure so levels 3-5 would be good.
You should probably give more details on what you want from prospective players. Some format for them to fill like:
Name:
Species:
Class: level 3, 2024 rules, NO homebrew
Backstory: limit to 2 paragraphs
Roll NOT re-roll 1s, Point Buy, or Standard Array
Something like that.
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
-Ilyara Thundertale
Oh! Thanks!
