Thanadol you cast an appraising eye over the armoury. Most of the items in this room are mundane and martial. They are of little use to a student of the arcane such as yourself. However, (With a 25) after a few minutes searching you detect the familiar tingle of magic coming from a nearby pile of rags. You bend down to investigate what turns out to be a moth eaten robe. Something in the colour and trim tickles your memory (make a history check with advantage). Wrapped within the robe are a few items that are instantly recognisable to you. You find:
A brown leather spell book (The book contains the life's work of a fellow wizard. It will take one hour of study and an arcana roll to learn more of its secrets)
Dealuri you find a spot near the splintered door where you can keep an eye on the passageway beyond while the others search the area. (please roll a d20)
Skritch you search the ogres room and find:
On the ogres belt : a small pouch filled with finger bones and silver coins (17 silver)
A crate of unidentified meat, raw and wriggling with maggots
The club and spear remain discarded here but they are of little use to an adventurer of your stature
You use the opportunity to train Sunhill (DC18) and he is mostly confused by your efforts. However, you have put in the groundwork and next time you train him you can roll with advantage.
Rachus as you explain your magic to Ember she listens with growing interest, "In the south only females have power and it is dark and frightening." she glances past you to the ogre where the glow of your whisp is just now dissipating, "Your magic is... bright." she offers you a smile, it is a brief thing then seeing Skritch looking up at you winking suggestively she blushes and quickly moves away to join in the search through the armoury.
OOC: anyone searching the armoury (Thandol and Skritch your rolls stand as they are) will find what ever non-magical weapon they are looking for on an investigation DC 12 and the same for non-magical armour on a DC 14. If we get any more Nat 20s or Nat 1s I'll deal with those separately, but otherwise search and gear up as you like, just post what you loot. Also, it sounds like you are going for another rest? Long or short, Dealuri and Vakas you can make your suggestions in character and if you disagree Thandol can have the deciding vote this time round.
Skritch curls up, happy that he has been able to help Rachus with his courtship ritual. He knows Rachus would do the same for him, when he comes of age...
Even if the group vote to move on, Skritch will try and grab whatever rest he can. Everyone knows, when you're on the move behind enemy lines, whenever you can, you always, always grab what shut eye you can.
History check: 23 Thanadol eagerly looks over the treasures. A magnifying glass! These are rare and expensive. Here you guys can have this one, get you a decent pile of gold. Now... These ones are of interest to me. He pockets the wand and sits down to study the book.
Vakas peeks around the corner, storing away his short bow, he walks out and looks at the Ogre on the ground. "Excellent team work, fellas. High five!" He high fives Dealuri and smiles at Skritch. "Little furry one, that was a powerful blast of flame, amazing! I thought we distracted him from both sides pretty well." He wanders over and picks up any errant arrows, and looks through the pile of arms laid on the ground for arrows. "Hey, what did you find, Thanadol, that looks interesting! A wand, right down your alley!" Vakas starts to pick through the weapons, saying "A lot of this stuff is beat up. Hard to sort through. Can someone give me a little help here?"
Vakas is looking for anything that would be useful, or any fancy daggers or short swords.
Investigation : 11
"I think this might be a good place to rest, there is a sturdy bar on this door back here, but it is a shame that the Ogre destroyed the other door. Perhaps we could brace it or block it somehow. I just worry about wandering kobolds finding us. I only need 4 hours of rest, so I can keep watch while you guys study and sleep. That thing could never figure out where my arrows were coming from apparently, so I feel fine..."

He gives the pile of weapons a quick look but finds nothing but twisted metal and rust.
"I am not sure how we can block the doorway now without a door short of propping the ogre against somehow. Though I agree this seems like a defensible place to rest if someone needs it."
Dealuri rolls an 8 for watching down the corridor and a 14 for looking for non-magical weapons.
She accepts the acorn cud from Scritch and not sure of what else to do with it, sticks it behind her left ear. She looks at the assorted weapons and armor and picks up a hand crossbow. "This looks like fun! And it will be a good weapon for ranges in between my longbow and war pick. And this would be a good place for a short rest. I could watch in the ogre's room while others rest in the armory."
You all take a short rest (roll hit dice if you need to).
Thanadol (with a 23) you recognise the robes as coming from the order of Merros. Merros is a powerful human wizard who trains young adepts to serve in the royal households of Athrillan. These belongings came from one of his students and should you ever find yourself in the Grey Tower which is the home of that order you would most likely be rewarded for news of this wizards fate. On the inside cover you see the poor wizards name, Osmorand Glimblefiltch a wizard of the fifth order of Merros. Make an Arcana check as you study his work over the next hour.
Ember manages to outfit herself with a leather jerkin and an old battered helm, both a little to large for her frame.
Vakas and Rachus you find little of use amongst the battered leather and mangled steel, so at last settle down for a rest. It seems the ogre made sport of destroying this otherwise useful items. Such a waste.
(With an 8) The short rest goes by without incident. Is there anything else you would all like to do before leaving the room?
Arcana check looking through his things: 21 Man Thanadol is no lackey for investigation and identification. Does Thanadol know what the wand does? Or will he need a rest for that?
OOC: No the wand is common enough that he will just be able to use it. Who is taking the magnifying glass btw?
Thanadol (with a 21) you study the works of Osmorand Glimblefiltch. He begins with basic theories of magic and the knowledge of common cantrips and while an interesting read, those early pages offer little that you did not already know. You then turn to a number of pages that deal with more powerful castings, some you recognise and others you do not. (Add 1d4 level 1 spells of your choice to your own spell book from the wizard spell list as you copy them across). This book has more to offer and you look forward to opening its pages again.
"If we have,"Skritch broadcasts, "what we, er, what we need, shall we return to the main thoroughfare and head further north?"
Skritch scrounges around for some chunk of metal that weighs a few pounds (like a mangled up helmet or a sword hilt or whatever) that he can yeet with his Catapult spell, pops it in one of Sunhill's saddlebags, then mounts up.
Dealuri agees with Skritch. “Going right at the main passage is a good idea.” She will wait for one the the stealthier folks to lead away and be near by them to support. She sniffs the air, just in case her newly sensitive nose picks up anything worth knowing about. (Perception 18)
Dealuri (with an 18) when you reach the main tunnel you take a deep sniff of the dank dungeon air. You get a strong aroma of fried kobold with underlying flavours of manticore must and nervous squirrel, and then from up ahead the cold fresh smell of running waters and something else... something rotten and ancient.
The stony chill of the dungeon seeps into your bones as you venture deeper. Ahead, the low growl of fast-running water promises a troubling obstacle. You soon come to a passage on the right hand wall that leads to the armoury, a fleeting memory of a rest now sealed behind an impassable door. Another door stands just ahead on your left. Vakas, a light touch is all it takes for you to find it unlocked, an unnerving invitation in the crushing dark.
OOC: I will update the map shortly and put it in the group chat :)
Vakas turns and looks at Skritch, thinking “Right you are… but, I’m not a rogue. I just like to free things up, redistribute things. An equalizer, perhaps, you’d say. Anyway, let’s keep hunting.”
Vakas opens the door and turns right, but first looking across the hall at the indentation in the hallway, examining for any traps or secret passages. If nothing is there, he continues forward.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Vakas you move to the left hand wall and open the door. (with a 26) you find no sign of traps around the door or in the passage beyond.
It is a short narrow passage ending in another door. This door is locked, but again no sign of traps. You may try to pick the lock (Sleight of Hand DC 12). If you fail the door could be bashed through (Strength DC 14) a noisy solution but effective.
Rachus, while Vakas is busy "equalizin" Ember quietly asks you, "Can't you just magic it open with your music?"

Fire bolt ready for Skritch.
Thanadol prepares a fire bolt as well, who's going to lead the way?
