"It's not for you it's for it," she exclaims holding the wand at her side motioning behind her towards the canvas. "She...well she must have been capture too," the teen adds stepping aside to let Hrain approach the gap in the canvas!

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"Folzi jumps in as Hrain approaches the canvas. "Why don't we all step back and I can unveil the 'scary' monster from back here?!" The gnome's magical hand appears resting just above the canvas.
Father Pat stands ready shield in hand and says to Folzi "why don't you stand close to me so if necessary I can protect you from whatever is under there?"
Hrain also adjusts his new shield, hand edging slightly closer to the sword hilt instinctively but he also tries to position himself in front of Nick and Lyra if possible. "No sudden moves anyone."

As Folzi spectral hand floats forward the teen shifts anxiously from foot to their other foot having turned from the party holding up the wand to the cage.
"She's nice...I mean the storm riled her up but the wand calmed her," the teen adds her tone insistent.
Folzi's hand then peels back to reveal a manticore in a large metal cage it's long and large barbed tail flicking back and forth as the beast looks curiously out from its limited vantage at the party through the break in the canvas. The tail is obviously the cause of the small, and apparently accidental, leaks!
"Release me and no harm shall come to anyone here," the beast breaths through jagged bared teeth the voice distinctly female.
"What the...?" Father Pat says. "More importantly, how did it get there and what should we do about it?"he asks of the party in general. Father Pat then seeks to use his Divine Sense thinking to himself "Oh Mother of the Harvest does this potentially monstrous beast seek to do me, my colleagues or the crew of this boat harm?" to determine if the Manticore represents a threat.
OOC: You can not tell intent nor does it detect good or evil alignments but gives to the location within 60ft of fiends, undead, and celestials that are not in total cover. I allow you to detect desecration and/or consecration.

"What exactly does that wand do?"Folzi asks the girls holding the item. He then looks back and forth between the bigger folks in his party and shrugs. He takes a few steps toward the caged monster with his hands up. "And yes, to echo my friend here, how did you wind up here?"
"It belonged to one of tge pirates that Niska tossed overboard. It...controls her," she points the wand toward the manticore which seems oddly docile save her plead for freedom! "I just told her to listen to me with the wand in my hand. I stole it from him before he got tossed," she explains.

Father Pat continues to watch the Manticore warily. Whilst he has never seen one himself everything he has heard about them is that they cannot be trusted.
Hrain eyes the creature warily, then steps forwards "Listen carefully, we understand you are powerful but you are not going to be let free and you musty accept that - I have no plans to murder you though if you remain calm and refrain from damaging the ship further, perhaps we can find something solid enough for your tailspikes to strike which doesn't damage the hull?"

Lyra remains at the back of the group, carefully eyeing up the events but a little puzzled. "But you surely didnt promise her to release here, while we're still on the ship...right?" She adds, as she scratches the back of her head.

"The child controls my movements and I obey. I wish to harm no one as she asks but I also wish to be free," the manticore replies.
