Together Hrain and Lyra take in the sails as the boat continues head on into the storm!
"We haven't got supplies to put into port father on. We must make it ashore by week's end and the closest it's through this storm," Niska bellows hanging on the wheel as a wave dashes across the deck!
The party scrambles successfully lashing the sails down but below is another story! Three teens come above decks saying there's a leak in the cargo hold. One of these teens the party has yet to meet. She's older than all of them and brandishes muskets and a rapier.
OOC: the party will determine the best way to plug the leak as Niska and teens remain on deck. Fixing it involves investigation for materials and finding it. Then survival checks for plugging it.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
OOC: since Folzi and Nick were in the common storage / cargo area when this began, and our Perception checks weren't enough to alert us to what's happening above, would they have been enough for Nick to hear the sounds of the crew discovering the leak, etc.?

"Did you hear that, Folzi? Kids found where the ship has sprung a leak - sounds like a job for two able gnomes!" Nicknack heads in the direction the teens came from in the cargo hold.
"Dammit, Folzi - I can't find where all this water is coming from! Can you find it? I see the repair materials over there, and I have a little knack for helping with Mending things!"

"Most definitely!"Folzi says happy to have an opportunity to explore the rest of the ship and follows behind Nicknack to find the leak in the cargo hold.
Together the gnomes make quick work of the leak but oddly the leaks look like they were caused from within the boat NOT outside of it! The teens who accompanied you look nervous but somewhat relieved y'all fixed the leak the oldest of the teens are standing near two large objections covered by tattered canvas that reminds you of old sail. It's odd to say the least!

Nicknack eyes Folzi meaningfully, glancing back and forth from the patched leak to the rogue several times. "Why don't you lead our young crewmates abovedecks, Master Folzi - I will stay here and tidy up while you give the report to Captain Niska, and then I'll be right along to assist with matters there."

Nicknack waits to see if Folzi goes upstairs, and if anyone follows him, before cleaning up the repair tools and looking for a way to peek under the tattered canvas.

Pat, Hrain, Lyra make a DEX save DC13 as another huge wave crashes over the decks the ship being tossed like a toy on rough seas! Thunder rattles everyone as lightning crashes into the waves nearby in a brilliant flash! The storm looks no where near letting up!

Folzi gives a smile and nod to Nicknack. "Come on, you three. Let's get back up top to help out." A crash of thunder and lightning hit. "The storm is sure to need all hands on deck." The gnome chuckles. "Hmmph... I'm picking this lingo up pretty well. I must have missed my calling as a sailor?"
(Provided at least two come along... )
The gnome waits to follow those who are coming above with him. Once about mid deck on the deck below the top, he pulls out a copper wire and begins to whisper into it. "We may have a situation down here, Captain Niska. Something fishy about the cause of this leak."

As the wave hits Father Pat sets his foot and peg-leg firmly grabs the wheel and (Dex save - 19) stays upright as the water swirls over the deck! Together he and the other crew member try and turn the ship to face the storm.

If Lyra is anywhere near Father Pat when the waves hit he reaches out and tries to grab her {(Dex 9) or (Strength 18)} whichever is appropriate! If he manages to grab her he says "I've got you"as he drags her upright to a rail and says "hang onto that!"If he fails to grab her he yells "MAN DOWN"as the wave knocks her over and out of his reach.

Niska replies to Folzi. "Can't. Help. At. The. Wheel. Storm." She says through gritted teeth.
Niska then is surprised by Pat's attempts to take over her place at rhe wheel! The fallen aasimar needs no help with the wheel and givies the half-orc a scolding look.
"Help your party," the aasimar exclaims motioning to Lyra who is then swept overboard to the horror of Hrain and Pat who watch!
Lyra survival check to swim.
OOC: Folzi/ Nick are alone in their investigation while Hrain/Pat are on deck.
