Tab stretches, and walks over to Ortimay. "I wasn't looking on the captain, I was searching for ...um, something else, but I saw Mr. Serpentcrusher frisk him - mayhap he found something?"
(Perception check to see if Tab noticed Mel do his sleight of hand: 25)
Edit: Nope! Tab only saw that Mel got close to the Captain at the end of the battle.

Mel takes out the iron key and stares at it, rolling it around in his hand. He looks at the lock, then down to the key. He has made up his mind. He gulps and slowly moves the key toward the lock, sweating profusely. Closing his eyes and turning away, bracing for the imminent death that is about to happen to him when he opens the lock, he shoves the key into the lock!
Wait no he doesn't.
It seems that the key has slipped out of Mel's sweaty hand.
All the tension gone from the moment, Mel unceremoniously inserts the key into the lock and turns it! Then...
It pops open.
And inside is nothing but a sack.

Upon closer examination, the sack reveals itself to be a... Sack!
However, when Mel opens the sack, he finds it to be filled with thousands of coins! Along with the coins, there are two bottles filled with green liquid, and two rolled up pieces of parchment!

If it's a long rest then Gene will take a look at the loot as well. He would probably recognize the Chultan coins out of all the coins. Is it mostly Chultan or mostly from elsewhere?
"There's most probably at least one interested party in the city that cares about the seas having one less pirate ship around. We might be able to either profit from this action or use it as leverage for some information. Now I'm not the best with words, but just saying how things are around these parts. Someone else should do the talking."
(Safe to assume I need to make an Arcana Check to puzzle out the scrolls meaning? Disadvantage?)
"What. Is. This?"
All thoughts and concern for the sea and sickness flee Nobody's mind. He eagerly accepts each item in turn with a devilish smile. He takes care not to read the scrolls aloud as he examines them, and only keeps his experiments with the liquid to seeing and wary wiffs if looking is not enough.
"Is everyone else alright, by the way?"
He asks, having not really looked up from the studying the items. Nobody didn't even realized (or forgot) if he had moved or not from whatever dark corner Mel originally found him in.

"We're planning to split the coin, yes?" Tab says this while absent-mindedly chewing on what might be a small piece of rat and staring out to sea. "I can make a few coppers go a long way, but it's always nice to have a little extra scratch on hand. You know, for emergencies."
(Ugh! If only i had the resources immediately for transfer! XD Also, is there check I can do for the potions? If not, I'm going to try anddetect magicas a ritual next post.)
"In-ter-resting indeed."
Nobody rubs his chin in thought a few times as he held the scrolls before holding out the detect magic one back to Mel.
"That one is use to make things touched by the weave visible to the eyes of the caster, and to the trained, even divine the school it belongs to... but there are catches of course. I could make use of it, of course. But I do not wish to be more greedy then I am by keeping this little one--"
He shakes the other scroll he has in hand.
"For services rendered... minute, though they were... hmm... I really hope I don't have to put on another display like that. Rather counterproductive for what I wish to ultimately accomplish aside our mission."
If there are no objections, he'll slip the disguise self scroll into his backpack.
"Though it... pains me, in a sense, if I am to have a share of this coinage, donate it to the fallen sailor's family."

Ortimay notices Mel staring at the chest, and walks over to it, hopping on top. She sits down on top of it and begins to speak.
"Did'ya not find anything to open that while you were rooting around in the other ship? No keys or nothing?"

(I actually forgot I took that.)
Melanthios will attempt to open the chest with the key. He will first check it for traps: 23

Mel peers at the two keys he snagged. One is made of shiny polished metal, with designs carved into it, and the other is made of dull iron.
Mel looks over the chest, but doesn't see any traps.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Mel will try both keys in the chest, Dodging beforehand (you never can be too careful).

(You guys can take a long rest, the journey is still a while)

Mel will count his loot, and take the bottles and scrolls to Nobody, since he has more experience with rthe arcane.
