"Ah yes, of course, the old treasure chest in the captain's cabin," says Alvyn. "The captain of a ship flying the Jolly Roger probably isn't too wily with his valuables, but I suppose I should do a bit of investigationalizing before I touch it, just in case," he continues, for some reason unable to let the flag thing go. He inspects the chest for any evidence of nasty surprises. While he's at it he also looks behind paintings for evidence of secret compartments.
Kosadius sees that all has been taken care of and so he turns and walks back. He looks for some sort of blanket to cover the now dead Aili. Once he covers her up, he kneels there for a bit of time. After he prays, he sighs again but does not leave her side until they come to take care of her.
Alvyn searches the chest for any traps, and finds that it is locked. When he peers into the lock, he sees a small needle within it.
Grugg dons the studded leather. It is a bit tight, but still fits.
Kosadius finds it and lays it over Eili's still body, then kneels and prays.
Zandak finds that each pirate has a scimitar, a light crossbow, and leather armor. The poker-players each have a mace, leather armor, and a heavy crossbow. The big pirate dropped a greataxe before falling off the boat. The captain has a bejeweled scimitar and a heavy crossbow.

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Grugg looks around and notices Kosadius kneeling by their fallen comrade, Eili. Motioning the Pirate Captain up and walking him over to Captain Ortimay for safekeeping. "Maybe not finished with you, yet." Grugg says to the Pirate Captain, before walking towards Kosadius.
"Eili brave warrior. Eili not make it far...but we live. Go farther."Grugg says to the Paladin, doing his best to share in his grievance. Turning his attention towards the pirate's ship, he yells in his big boy voice, "AAAAAAAAAAALLLVVVYYYYYYYYYYYYNNN!!!???"
Alvyn pops back up above deck to find the captain, grabbing the most valuable looking art object he can see that would fit comfortably in his bag. He considers demanding that he go open the chest below deck, but on second consideration, thinks that Grugg might be more effective at making such a demand. He motions for Grugg to bend down so Alvyn can whisper in his ear, and says, "I stumbled upon a lovely treasure chest below deck. Seems to be locked though. And likely trapped. Perhaps you can ... gently convince our new friend to open it for us."
Grugg smiles wide, showing particularly large and unusually straight teeth in his grin. "That great news. Grugg get key. Or take Pirate's hand."
"Captain Pirate-man!" Grugg walks briskly with chest out, heaving angrily, making sure the Pirate Captain takes notice. "Treasure box. Give Grugg key or Grugg take Pirate's hand."Grugg then bares his great axe again to remind the Pirate Captain of his dire situation. Grugg puts his face within inches of the Pirate Captain's face and breathes heavily while looking very impatient for a key.
"Um, sorry to interrupt," Alvyn says to Grugg, motioning again for him to bend down. He whispers, "The chest appeared to have a trap as well. I think it might be better if we got the captain to open it, rather than just giving us the key."
"Mmm..Grugg understand." Taking the Pirate Captain firmly by the wrist, squeezing hard enough to shatter the bones of a goblin, he says in his commanding Barbarian tone, "Treasure box has trap. Captain Pirate open. NOW." Grugg then follows Alvyn to the treasure chest so that the Pirate Captain can open it for the party.
As Grog gives a few assuring words as Kosadius prays over the body of Eili, Kosadius nods in understanding. He stands up then and composes himself a bit better. He can't help but overhear Grog about a key and then demanding the pirate captain to open something. Figuring that Eili will be taken care of, he follows the others towards what may be something of worth. On the way there, he does pick up the Greataxe that the big pirate dropped after his death.
Zandak keeps eyeing the bejeweled scimitar, loving the colors. Zandak will take the bejeweled scimitar and light crossbow and try to take some bolts too. Zandak then goes to the pirate captain and asks, "What do you know of the area, captain?"
(So sorry I wasn't able to post yesterday! I was super-de-dooper-de-booper, special deluxe a la Peter T. Hooper sick!)
The captain looks up terrified at Grugg's huge face and stands up. Trembling with fear, he heads belowdecks. There he takes out a key with a trembling hand and hands it to Alvyn.
Alvyn hands the key back and says, "We would really prefer that you open it for us. You know, just in case you've rigged it so that scorpions jump out at unsuspecting thief thieves, or something." He adds, "And that might make my friend here angry," pointing toward Grugg. "You wouldn't like him when he's angry. Well I suppose you already saw him when he's angry. You didn't like it, did you?"
The captain lets out a little squeak. He puts the key against they lock, and quite obviously switches it for another one before inserting it in the keyhole. The box springs open, and nothing but an old bag lies in it.
"There's uh... no treasure here. I uh... dumped off my last load before coming here."

"How rude!" Alvyn says. "Just for that I'm taking some of your art. It will look lovely in my study." He grabs a second piece of sculpture-or-whatever.

"On second thought..." Alvyn says, turning back toward the chest. "Let's have another look." He looks more closely at the inside of the chest, checking for a false bottom or other such trickery.

(If DM allows) Grugg takes the studded leather armor from the pirate captain and dons it with appreciation for the leather craftsmanship.
”Grugg wear this. Unless you have better to give Grugg.” Grugg says to the Pirate Captain.

Zandak asks the pirate captain, “I want to know if you heard of the Soulmonger. And I also want to know if you have a map to Chult?”
