During the voyage, Alvyn chatters on constantly at whoever will listen. He is preoccupied with the lore surrounding the artifact they are seeking. At one point, the Aasimar paladin is nearby on the deck, feeling uniquely queasy and hence lacking the willpower to escape the wizard's rambling.
"You know, the reason they call it Soulmonger is to do with its mechanism of action. You see, it has the effect of 'monging up' people's souls, and thereby preventing proper reintegration with their respective bodies. It's all very technical of course, although I don't suppose you're interested in those dry details, so I'll spare you the boring..." begins the gnome, just as Kosadius interrupts him by emptying his gut all over Alvyn's robes.
"I knew I should have memorized that prestidigitation spell before this trip," Alvyn mutters to himself as he heads below deck to clean himself off. Just as he is about to go below he notices a faint shape in the fog ahead. He stops and squints at it to see if he can make out what it might be.
After a few seconds of squinting, the silhouette reveals itself to be a ship of some kind. Alvyn heads to warn the helmsman, only to discover that his new druid companion has beaten him there and is already shouting anxiously. Figuring the situation is handled, he shrugs, and continues on to wash up in the irritatingly ill-equipped ship.
Perhaps being overly cautious, but also having no intention of dying at sea if she can avoid it, Eili makes sure her longbow is within easy reach as they approach this other ship.
Grugg notices Eili glancing at her bow to make sure it's at the ready.
Carrying the weight of his greataxe with both hands, Grugg confidently stands tall as he embraces the rush of adrenaline beginning to course through his veins.
Kosadius was feeling fine, up until the movement of the ship. He ain't doing to good and there is a bit of shame on his face, if it did not look to green at that time. As other try to make sure he is feeling better he nods to them but no words escape his mouth, he is definitely not doing to good. Hearing others say something about another ship, he tries his best to make sure that he can at least stand up straight and look presentable.
"Huh. We're the only ship from Port Nyanzaru and the surrounding area, unless... Oh no. EVERYONE PREPARE TO FIGHT!"
As the ship comes into view, you notice that it has a mermaid figurehead, and dangling it are a few swinging spherical shapes. You can't tell what they are, until one of them swings around to face you, mouth agape and sightless eyes staring into space. They're human heads! The ship flies the Jolly Roger. The ship turns alongside yours, and a group of(you assume) pirates throw grappling hooks at the ship and start pulling the ships together.
SO, WHAT'LL YOU DO WHILE THIS IS ALL HAPPENING? ALSO YAY PIRATES!!!

Zandak turns around as quickly as he can, he pulls his spear out and runs to the closest pirate and holding his spear with one hand will do a little spin around the back to give momentum to his spear and give a good slice to the pirate he gets near.
As he is finishing rinsing the front of his robe, Alvyn hears a ruckus above deck. As he gets to the top step he sees the large ship with its gruesome dangling heads and large black and white flag. "Is that... is that the Jolly Roger?" he says to himself, no one else being in immediate earshot. "My, I didn't think people still used that flag. I thought it was only used in drawings and hackneyed pirate-themed theater. Bit of a dead give away, I should think. I mean, don't they care about the element of surprise? If you're trying to get close enough to... Oh... Oh I see. Damn fog."
Then, thinking on his feet, he pops back down below for his bag, which he brings back to the stairway to the lower deck door. He pulls out a large, scraggly wooden stick from the bag, and waves his hands. Suddenly, another identical but somewhat smaller doorway appears on one of the middle steps, along with a few connecting pieces of wood between the top of the illusory door and the real one. Alvyn positions himself between the two doors so he can see the action but the action can't see him, and starts reviewing some of the pages in his spellbook.
EVERYONE ROLL INITIATIVE! YOU GUYS GET A FREE ROUND TO PREPARE OR ATTACK! KILL KILL KILL!
Zandak throws his spear at a bald pirate, taking him through the neck. He pitches over the side of the ship and quickly sinks. Alvyn disappears behind an illusory door.

OoC: Hey guys, it's our very first initiative roll! Our ... initialtive roll, if you will! My guess you probably won't, which is fine, and probably wise!
Blammo: 4
Edit: Probably deserved that for that terrible attempt at wordplay. Fitting pun-ishment!Thank goodness for this door? Didn't think the pirates were already boarding! Hope they didn't see!
(Yes, you may make a perception check. Also, you don't need to ask about that, you can just roll and I'll narrate whether it has an effect or not.)
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
(Just making sure, I will remember that next time.)

Zandak runs to find whoever is steering the ship and warns him, “Watch out for that shape in the distance! It’s a ship!”
