"Me wonder if O'Mallery family might be transmuted by necromancy." mutters Karl after connecting the dots in his head between necromantic magic and dwarven foot-tracks.
[[ curious if that'll track with what Garrin might get from his arcana roll. And no probs, hambergler, you've got the highest arcana mod of us so it makes sense to bolster you. ]]
He switches his gear from holding his greataxe to donning a shield and readying a javelin. If they have distance on the mounds, no sense forfeiting that advantage if the mounds do something weird.
( you are pretty close to them, you nearly walked between between them before they were pointed out)
Garrin had been silent for much of the march through the brush, the gloom settling deeper around them as they drew near the farm. The cold air carried the copper sting of blood before the clearing even came into view, and his grip on the glaive tightened. When the sight of the massacred animals broke through the tall grass, he stopped dead in his tracks. “Spirits preserve…” he muttered under his breath, the words low and flat with restrained anger. He crouched just behind Karl, eyes narrowing as he examined the carnage, the smashed skulls, the ruptured flesh, the way the blood pooled unnaturally thick in the dirt. The same faint sulfurous taint from the urn lingered here too, faint but unmistakable. “Same rot as the urn,” he murmured, nostrils flaring. “Whoever’s doing this isn’t just raising corpses, they’re corrupting the ground itself.” Then came the warning, Caine’s sharp call about the mounds. Garrin’s head snapped toward them instantly. He could feel it: that same faint, humming vibration underfoot, the one he’d felt before things moved.
“Back! All of you!”But it was too late. The earth broke. Clods of dirt and grass flew upward as rotting shapes clawed their way out of the mounds, limbs twisted and caked in mud, eyes hollow, movements jerky and wrong. Garrin’s glaive was already in motion. Blue runes flared along the blade as he swept it into a defensive stance, the arcane light reflecting off his eyes. His voice cut through the chaos: “They were buried here, turned into sentries! Karl, form up with Caine! Pahua, eyes on the rear! Nothing creeps up our flank!” The creatures staggered toward them, and Garrin’s mind raced as he drew on what he knew necromantic constructs, perhaps, or animated corpses bound to a locus. His thoughts sharpened like the edge of his weapon.
Post #100 on the other page is my Initiative (8) and my 1st action when it is my turn. I figure to keep pace up, it is ok to just state X because I doubt it will matter between the +20 Initiative and my lowly 8. :(

[[ For Karl, waiting to see exactly how many zombies / skeletons there are. Or such. Big thing of deciding whether to rage or not. (Not sure exactly how many combat encounters we'll have so not sure if I can just use my 3 rages for all of them or if I'll need to save any. And probably will wait on frenzying until later.) ]]
[[ Ah, noted. Then back to greataxe. ]]

[[
Looks like we're still waiting for Thoradin's initiative on Gan? Perhaps we want to have DM roll it?
Also, just as a heads up, I'm also okay if you want to roll initiative for us, Dwar. For me it's just getting the firing order up so not a biggie.

((Hi everyone. Gan still hasn't met the group and is not exactly where you are yet. He's not part of this encounter))
