“Assuming we divide each watch into 2 hour groups I will take the third watch.”
As the group discusses watch order Rhys will take out his cards, shuffle and draw one. As he looks over a card with the picture of a man holding an object over his head.
“Hmm … The Magician … the first of the arcana cards … this is a card related deeply to the elements. A card of a powerful beginning and hopefully bodes well for us moving forward. Being upright implies that we have all the tools we need and must turn strong intuition into action.”
Disappointed in not learning more about the amulets, Zherzire looks around at the others. "I suppose I will take the fourth watch? Guess that means I ought to get to sleep. See you folks in the morning!"
(OOC: Not sure if you are aware of the difference with the 2024 rules, @bread. You can take a Long Rest and stand watch for up to 2 hours. If interrupted but have been resting for more than an hour, you get the benefit of a Short Rest. Then each interruption only adds an additional hour to the Long Rest anyway, so it isn't like the time is wasted as long as you can get back to it. So Aubrik will start a Long Rest with his two hour watch, and then hope to sleep for 6 hours - possibly an hour or so more if interrupted)
Aubrik grunts in approval that the order of watches has been determined, but looks at Rhys with suspicion as he reads the card. He is well used to other forms of divination, through sticks and bones for example, but these cards of his seem a bit random to him. (Unlike sticks and bones of course :-) ).
(OOC: I don't remember if this was mentioned but when Rhys looked at the staff using detect magic was it magical? Also I do not see the amulet in my inventory.)
Holding onto the amulet Rhys will attune to the Thousand Wind Pendant during the long rest.
“Well guess that means I will take the last one, sounds good to me, I rather prefer my rest uninterrupted by tediously staring into a fire waiting for something exciting to happen but hoping it doesn’t.” The dragonborn watches the boiling water for a bit as the amulets are getting cleaned, “Odd that the flesh piles had this amulet and then Gale gives us another just before dying. Really hard to tell if they actually do anything other than get people killled”
Aubrik looks across to Yorcath and lets out a low, slow chuckle.
"Is good you watch after dawn, if you stare into fire", he says, clearly amused. "But yes. Agree that amulet not to be trusted. Maybe dead female change mind when questioned", he adds more seriously with a shrug.
“Yeah, yeah, you know what I meant, maybe next time we be sure to have two people on watch each shift, double the eyes and help keep each other awake. Also get more of a chance to get to know each other” Yorcath pats Aubrek on the back, “Gotta figure out the history of that helmet eventually right?”

(OOC: was not aware of that rule change. Thank you)
After an uneventful night, you wake up well rested. The caravan has decided to stay in this spot another night because some hunters saw a herd of deer last night, and would like to hunt. The nearest town is about a 3 hour walk from where you are, and is rumored to be home to a supposedly good necromancer and his apprentice.
(OOC: First during Rhys's watch he would have casted see invisibility. Also Rhys's curiosity would have gotten the better of him and believing that he could prepare countermeasures for most negative things he would have attuned to the amulet during his watch.)
After Rhys wakes Zherzire up for her watch he will find a place to sit and take out his deck. Shuffling and drawing a card with a man on a chariot with a sphinx on each side of him. A smile comes across his face Rhys talks to himself.
“If action is needed I shall answer that call”. For the rest of the time during Zherzire’s watch Rhys, not needing to sleep, would have worked on crafting scrolls.
When everyone is finally up Rhys will greet them with a smile.
“Good morning everyone! Today shall hold much discovery and experiences! Did everyone rest well? I happened upon the realm of the great mountain last night during my trance. Had a lovely conversation with a Solar. He advised me never to throw hands unless one is confident in themselves. I can't say I learned much but after a disagreement about the necessity to experience trials and tribulations in order to understand good. I can't say it was a fruitful conversation. He quickly decided to throw hands but I can't say his confidence was unfounded. With one hit I found myself back here having finished my trance.”
With that the group feels strangely protected and gains 12 Temp HP.
Aubrik listens to Rhys as he spends time putting on his armour, once again finding something a little familiar in the way he speaks. A bit like when his tribe pass around the dream pipe, although he has not seen Rhys smoke anything.
Unlike Rhys, he had not attuned to the amulet, having no trust that it isn't cursed as yet, and is keen to hear more from the dead female.
"Can talk to dead female now?", he asks Rhys. "Want hear answers. Why dead had amulets? Who Tribe of Wind? Where find them?", he says suggesting a couple of the more pertinent questions.
"Sound like caravan not move this day. Have time discover more", he adds.
Zherzire simply nods to Rhys as he stays awake as she keeps watch. When morning comes, she stands from the spot where she'd been keeping watch, stretching a bit. Hearing Aubrik talking to Rhys, she makes her way over towards them. "I'm interested to hear what we might learn if you can talk to the dead woman. I've also heard there's a town not far from here that may have someone well versed in necromancy. Perhaps they could help us understand the amulets," she suggests. "However, I'm going to get a bit of a run in before I grab something to eat. Anyone want to join me?" She is still stretching out her legs and limbering up as she speaks. Anyone traveling with the Tiefling knows that she always gets in a bit of exercise each morning, no matter their situation. About the only thing she is willing to relent about is waiting to get in a jog until the group hits the road, jogging a bit around the travelers on the road for a bit to get in her workout.
“Yes, yes, now that we are all up we can speak with the dead. We can let Zherzire go for her run and everyone else finish their morning preparations before I perform the spell.”
Turning to Zherzire.
“I shall take up your offer a different time if still available.”
When everyone is ready Rhys will cast speak with dead.
(Ooc: Playing mostly on mobile and the notifications aren’t updating properly so I keep lagging, so about that. I will endeavour to check here instead of trusting the notifications going forward)
Once he’s wakes for his turn to watch he stokes the fire to prep it breakfast for the rest of the group. After that’s finished up he collects one of the cleaned amulets and sits with his back to the fire to watch out into the dark as he plays with the symbol in his hands, slowly flipping it over in his fingers and eventually rolling it over his knuckles back and forth. During his contemplations he decides to try the route of trust and attuned to the symbol. As the sun comes up he notices the elf stirring from being almost motionless and shakes his head “If your just going to sit there, at the least you could talk some, though I wouldn’t want to horde your stories to myself”

“Sure, I’ll run with you, though we better be sure the others in the caravan don’t get scared that we’re running from something, I’ll refrain from screaming in fear as we go, still wouldn’t want to hurt my voice…” The rogue/fighter hops on the spot for a second until she’s ready to head out, taking deep breaths and doing some vocal exercises, “Me,me,me Mama made me mash my melon man”
Zherzire laughs as she hears Yorcath's vocal exercises. "You going to sing along with the run?" she asks. She seems pleased to have a partner though and sets off and a moderate pace to run through the encampment. She makes it a point offer a cheerful greeting to those amongst the caravan that she has met before. Otherwise she is focused on keeping up a steady rhythm to her run.
“Could sing an old marching tune”The mischievous grin spreads across his jaw and he starts singing “They say that in the army the cooks are really swell, but if you peek into the kitchen you’ll see a second hell. Gee Ma I wanna go back to my stereo, Gee Ma I wanna HooOoome”. (Performance = 12)
He finishes his verse as they come upon the first of her acquaintances in the caravan. From then on he hangs back and lets her do the talking, doing his best to be inconspicuous while running around with the tiefling.
