Smiling Jack full of optimism Slaps Barn on the back and with a huge grin says, "I know you will be able to kick ass and take names and I feel 100% safe with you. And that idea to allow me to lean over as you steady me should be a big help to lasso the cup"
Looking up with a huge smile on his face, then at Reg as he does his mumbling. Jack says, "I guess we wait for Reg to give us the all clear to go."
Jack looks though his pack for rope and looks at Barn's rope and (assuming they are different) picks the one that just "feels" the best."
A phantom force forms around the folded leaves the man has made, floating in the air as if caught in an unfelt breeze.
”Well, that’s it. You want to try gabbing the chalice from the Gallery walk first? If you knock it off the alter, I can have the wind walker go get it. Or I can see about sending it first, but the floor might still give way.”
Barn has never heard of anything like Reg's 'walker' before, and obviously has never seen anything like it since he can't see it right now. Still...
"I am thinking if y-your magical friend who... who is not a r-real person, right? If they c-can get the chalice, then that should be Plan A. If they can't th-then Plan B, I can hold Smiling Jack with the r-rope while he tries to lasoo it, or if that d-doesn't work, then Plan C, lower him d-down."
Listening to everyone, Smiling Jacks gets up, looks at Barn, and says, "I guess the two of us are going up and see if we can lasso a cup?"
Grabbing the rope, Jack starts walking up the minstrels Gallery.
Upon reaching a good location that seems solid and has a good line to the chalice. Jack grabs one rope and ties a good knot around himself, Jack checks the knot and then ties a few over hand knots in the rope to assist Barn with holding the rope and preventing any inadvertent slips. Jacks looks at Barn and flatly states, "you good?"
Barn looks confused, having assumed Reg'sunseen friend would try to grab the chalice first, but then gamely wraps one end of the rope securely around his muscled forearm and braces himself on the gallery to helpSmiling Jack lean over and try to use his lasso.
"I'm g-good," the big man stutters in response, perhaps inauspiciously.
Reg waited for some of the others to weigh in on which course of action to take. But with no one speaking up, he watched from the side line as Smiling Jack climbs up the gallery walk. With the big man tagging along for support, “Be careful now” he said encouragingly. The origami leaves flitted here and there slowly, rising and falling with every breath of the invisible wind walker.
Ardwynn lets loose a string of sharp edged words in a silvery tongue before switching to common, "Stop stalling and get off the chamberpot! If we keep dithering, it will be creeping toward sunset!" She turns and paces a dozen steps away from the spot and goes back to scanning the area for movement or odd noises.
Smiling Jack leaned out and attempted to hook the chalice within a loop of rope , he thought he had it but it slipped through and each subsequent attempt was worse and worse eventually he asked Barn to lower him.....but perhaps Barns arms were tired from poling the boat or Jack just particularly uncoordinated for all they succeeded in doing was spinning Jack around to careen off the chapel walls a few times before they both clambered back up and away from the edge in exhaustion before Reg sent his strange elemental servant to float the chalice up from the altar and into Regs grasp.
Ardwynn scanned the area once again spotting nothing untoward.....
Smiling Jack sits on the minstrel Gallery, having just finished their non productive attempt, having a quick rest. "Thank you Barn, thank you very much for all you do both this morning and yesterday. You are one helluva a guy. Thank you. I guess Reg was able ot accomplish what we could not, Bully for him."
The glittering of the origami leaves weightlessly drift across the waterlogged floor to the alter. It secures the chalice and brings it back to Reg. He brushes a few still attached vines off the object and gives it a look over. Even holding the purple gem up to it like a jeweler’s spyglass.
”This is suppose to have healing properties, huh?”
”Should we get back on Clotha’s trail then, or look around a bit more? I really don’t want to be here tonight to see if howling monks are real.”
Smiling Jack joins the others, hears reg speak as he is putting away the ropes and gear. "Being a chalice, maybe you need to fill it with whiskey or wine or some sort of liquid?....I agree lets leave and finish crossing the river to see if we can get back on the trail."
Barn's jaw drops open as Reg's invisible friend retrieves the chalice and it is a good thing he no longer needs to hold Smiling Jack over the edge of the gallery as he might have dropped his friend onto the waterlogged and unsafe floor below in his amazement.
Despite his awe, he is ready to continue the pursuit of Clotha, after first perhaps searching the island to ensure that Ned is not hiding here. But... something about this whole situation nags at him. This seemed almost too easy. Barn doesn't trust that Thomas the Wayfarer might not have made it to the island first and done some sort of trick. Is this even the real chalice? The big man's brow furrows.
He reaches out with his sixth sense as he had a few times yesterday, trying to sense any... holiness... from the chalice as Elen had led them to believe.
Barn uses Divine Sense while staring slack-jawed at the chalice: (holy object-related parts bolded, though obviously the other parts apply too) The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity. Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the hallow spell.
Ardwynn frowned at the rock before flipping it to Reg, "Be my guest. It's just a purple rock for me."
Smiling Jack full of optimism Slaps Barn on the back and with a huge grin says, "I know you will be able to kick ass and take names and I feel 100% safe with you. And that idea to allow me to lean over as you steady me should be a big help to lasso the cup"

Reg continues his strange mumbling for ten minutes.....
Smiling Jack squats and ties some knots, then unties them, practices a lasso...tick... tock...just waiting until....Reg is completed...tick...tock...
Reg finishes.

Smiling Jack stops fidgeting as he is silent to listen to the others .

Jack keeps nibbling his biscuit but also keeps aware of the surroundings. This would be a perfect time for an ambush.

As Smiling Jack & Barn make the walk, there is time for Reg's unseen friend to see what he can grab long before we get into position.
