Ardwynn's heart was beating in her chest like it wanted to escape as she prepared to fire Eldritch Blast at the wolf directly before her.
The air around her twists, and a low-pitched humming resonanted about her - high-pitched... similar to bees buzzing in a field... as the beam sprang forth from her hands. A vivid black-violet ray of sparkling energies tears through the air, moving so fast it seems to create a tunnel between Ardwynn and the wolf. That raw force hits the wolf with the impact of ....
a butterfly. :(
The execution was near flawless. To Hit: 24 (18+6)
but the result... her internal stresses pewed the pooch.... for ONE hp of force damage!
She could FEEL how weak the beam was for all it's focus and intent. A scream of frustration and rage tore from her throat.
Barn cries out in wordless anguish as he sees that Smiling Jack has advanced past him and been torn to shreds by these... wolves? The big man thinks they are wolves, and yet... he is not certain. He hears the remaining Jack, who has also advanced speak of them not looking fluffy?
As before, in battle, Barn's stutter is gone. He sees that the Jacks have been outflanked and his instincts make him instinctively realize that neither of them (nor Barn) are long for this world unless the wolves' ranks are thinned as soon as possible. With the rest of the party possibly soon to follow in Smiling Jack's fate if that were to happen. Finding no wolf in melee with him at the moment, he sidesteps, selecting the most injured targets.
"Have to get as many of them down as quick as we can." The big man watches in further dismay as Wynn's beam only slightly grazes one and pockmarked Jack strikes another. It's not going to be enough... "Reg, can you knock a couple of the ones in the back out somehow?"
Movement: With no wolf in melee with him, Barn moves 10' west, then attacks with his 10' reach, then 5' north, hoping at least one wolf gives chase.
Action: Barn attacks the most injured of the northernmost wolves with the 10' reach of his halberd: Halberd to hit the most injured wolf within 10' reach: 13 Halberd damage on the most injured wolf within 10' reach: 7 (slashing)
Bonus Action: Barn flips his Halberd and jabs the (now) most injured surviving northernmost wolves with his 10' reach: Halberd to hit the most injured surviving wolf within 10' reach: 15 Halberd damage on the most injured surviving wolf within 10' reach: 7 (bludgeoning)
Free Action: Barn holds his halberd and roars at the wolves to draw at least one away from Jack, hopefully into his 10' reach for an opportunistic attack. "COME GET ME. MOST MEAT ON MY BONES." Though he knows full well that neither he nor Jack will likely survive the full onslaught, should it come.
Possible Reaction: With Barn now 15' north from the nearest wolf, if one gives chase and enters his 10' reach, he tries to make a Polearm Master attack of opportunity, but trips over his own feet when swinging his heavy weapon, overbalancing himself. Polearm Master AoO if a wolf enters his 10' reach, to hit: 8 Polearm Master AoO if a wolf enters his 10' reach, damage: 12 (slashing)
Seeing Jack fall and the other Jack badly mauled Caelan ran forward drawing his two short blades and stood near the flame Reg had somehow conjured hoping to block the creatures in....obviously unnatural Barn was still able to slay one....
Reg walks with measured steps to the right/front so as to get as clear of a line of sight as far beyond the pack as possible. The trees and brush cause some issues but he figures he can still accomplish what he’s hoping for.
Even before the slicing swings of Barn and his plea for the trapper to “knock a couple of the ones in the back out”, he had considered his next actions. While he weighed the odds and thought about a more direct solution against the wolves, he decided to try this chosen course of action. (Although there was a hint of doubt still on his mind seeing the creatures ‘vanish in a mist’ when overcome with damage. Will this even work on them?)
The man grabs a pinch of sand from a pouch at his side and throws it at the wolves while saying “rest your weary eyes”.
Move: 20’ SE
Action: Cast Sleep, centered to include the three remaining Wolves (and maybe unconscious Smiling Jack) but exclude the party combatants.
Smiling Jacks ragged breathing steadied slightly as Reg raced down through the trees and somehow compelled the two wolves closest to him.....their eyes dropped and they wavered on their feet before transforming into small eddies of fog that drifted in tight circular motions.
Only one wounded wolf remained active and it charged at Barns display.
Continuing to roar wordlessly, Barn lays into the one remaining wolf that is still upright, right in front of him.
Movement: None Action: Halberd main attack to hit wolf: 21, damage: 11 (slashing) Bonus Action: HalberdPolearm Master bonus attack with haft to hit wolf: 8, damage: 7 (bludgeoning)
If and when the wolf goes down, Barn rushes over to kneel by Smiling Jack's side.
Reg moves forward to Smiling Jack’s body and starts to apply the basics of life saving care. He is far from home, and without a healer’s kit but back in his village, when bad things happened to people, it was him that they sought out.
With purposeful movements, and improvised bandages, (and perhaps the application of medicinal herb here and there) he goes through the steps that might save the young man’s life from slipping away.
As he works, he hums a somber tune. More so to track the time of how long something has been in place before checking and making adjustments. But it serves as a focus for the stout man to work diligently and in precision.
”Anyone have any extra cloth? Or how about some water in your skins? Barn, hold this here, as tight as you can…good, don’t let go. Ardwynn, can you see about getting some moss, maybe check those rocks over yonder.”
Barn offers water from his skin and holds whatever Reg directs tightly to Smiling Jack. He closes his eyes, not really knowing what he is doing and reaches out with his soul as he had a day ago with the leper, but different. Healing for tissue damage and blood loss rather than skin disease.
Barn'sLay on Hands - 1 hp healing to Smiling Jack.
(As far as Barn is aware, this healing comes from whatever Reg and the others are doing.)
( Barn should be one square further north but it doesn't change current sitch.)
Smiling Jack says "ouch."

Wolf Con Save- 13
Caelan advances and cuts another wolf into mist with efficient use of his saex.
The pockmarked Jack smashes a fist into the wolf who bit him staggering it as Barns halberd destroys it, scattering it to mist.
With no more wolves in range of his weapon he reconsiders and moves back to Jacks side to defend him and strikes at another, injuring it badly.
( Reg is up and Smiling Jack needs to make a Death Save. There are three wolves remaining, one wounded all within 25' of Reg.)

Jack lets out a sigh of relief. He doesn't know anything about medicine or helping unconscious people.
He looks over where the wolves were eliminated. Did they leave anything behind?
