While the others consume their ales, Musashi retreats to a quiet edge of the town. He does not seek the tavern's warmth...he seeks the clarity of physical exhaustion.
He spends the next 48 hours in a trance of violent discipline. With the Manual of Gainful Exercise laid open upon a tree stump, he pushes his body through the ancient, grueling rituals described in its pages. He holds agonizing positions until his muscles scream, then flows into explosive strikes with his mauls that crack the very air. One more thing—Ashlass sends her familiar, a bat, to spy on the villagers, focusing especially on their leader. She wants to see how they worship the dungeon and whether they have any connection to the aberrations.
