Oh ******* hell. Dani, i'm so sorry.

Cora looked at the trap. She took a few quick inhales and puffs doing her best to mentally psyche herself up and pull as hard as she could. On the final puff she strained as hard as she could and pulled - her arm muscles threatening to rip out of her tan skin.

CMONGrHrgh!!!: 5 

YYYESSSS!!!!

[Ayyoooo, take an inspiration point]

SNAP! The trap flings back onto itself, catching nothing but air.

"Ooof!" Danica collapsed into Cora's arms. She shuddered, but smiled warmly before giving Cora a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thank you."

Looking forward into Area 1, the cavern opens right up. Five green Cacti can be seen, spread out randomly in the area.

"Hrmmm, green plants..." Ruxio says. He's correct to be intreigued by this as you've not seen a green plant for days while out in this barren waste. "We could harvest the water from them. Cacti hold water within their hollow walls. We must be getting close." He says.

DC 14 Nature check if you'd like to attempt to drain some fluids.

"Oh!" Cora said as she caught Dani. She smiled back, and for some reason she didn't quite understand yet, didn't exactly let her go right away. This was as close as she had ever gotten to Dani physically so far, and definitely didn't resist the quick kiss. She felt warm and solid as Cora's shaking arms held her, and before it got TOO awkward, her mind spun a little bit, and thought of something to say as fast as she could before she looked like an idiot. Strangely, in the moment, she seemed to lack all confidence and something in her soul told her that's not her - but having Dani so close she couldn't think of anything else. She made a mental note to psychoanalyze herself later.

"Yeah! You're welcome! That trap looked nasty. Here. Let me look at your leg.."

She felt a bit responsible for her wound, and Cora examined the puncture and did her best to wrap it in something clean, so pretend she had any idea what she was doing.

DC14 Nature check. 7

Cora's head jerked to look at whoever was closest to her, clearly ecstatic she managed to pull off anything like draining a plant, pointing furiously to her handiwork.

As you approach the cactus, you go to stab at it with your blade as it wiggles out of the way. Stab, wiggle, stab, wiggle. The cacti attack!

The cacti twist and weave their shape into humanoid figures, not saying a word or even uttering a growl, they move in!

Ruxio pulls the long, metallic tube out from his pack and puts the butt of it against his shoulder. A faint buzzing sound can be heard, starting low and ending in a high pitched ringing before he pulls the trigger!
A thunderous BOOM shoots out a blue bolt of yellow arcane energy, cackling through the air at E1!
Attack: 27 Damage: 16 

"Blast it!" Ruxio yells as his shot arcs wide, before pointing the boomstick to the ground and begins to frantically fiddle with it, backing up slowly from the blights.
Danica is up!

Cora:
Natural instincts take hold. In the face of danger, your fight or flight response is so far off the scale in terms of fight, your body goes numb. Your body acts alone, like you have no control over it. You see the enemies in a different light, and you look at them a different way. All you see is openings in their defences. You don't know what this is or why it is... But you like it.

It's funny as you feel the safest... when you're in danger.

Danica, aware of her wounds, backs up until she's fairly certain that she's safely out of range and fires her crossbow at the first creature.

Attacking E1

Attack: 15 Damage: 5

The bolt strikes true! Right in front of Cora. The blight wobbles back, slightly off balance before wobbling forward, and striking at Cora with it’s spikey arms:

Cora is up!

Initiative: Ruxio, Danica, E1, Cora, E2, Yasei, E3, E4, E5

As the cactus came alive, and finally when Rubio fired the Boomstick - Cora was completely caught off guard, thinking it was ordinary desert foliage, and those noise startling her. As they started attacking, anything that resembled conscious voluntary thought stopped in Cora and something else activated. A switch was flipped. She had no time to freak out, no time to figure it out, and no time to resist it. It was completely overpowering and she became another person. As she went into battle mode a rush of chemicals from her brain calmed her nerves, steeled her muscles, and shot her with a mighty surge of pleasure, and put her in a zone. Her eyes dilated a bit, and through gritted teeth a beast within her gut came alive. And what was the strangest of all, she knew exactly what to do, where to strike.

She got angry. Became someone else. She found the closest enemy next to someone else, charged at it, and swung twice, aiming for the vital parts.

OOC: I'm bringing the family and out of town guests to brunch this morning.  It looks like E2 is up next.  So, please insert the following after E2 goes!

Like water rushing through a burst dam, Yasei accelerates forward, unstoppable.  She attacks E3 in a blur of downward slicing blades:

Attack 1a (katana): 10 Damage: 5

Attack 1b (wakizashi): 13 Damage: 6

Cora managed to fell E1, as a vital slash sends water splashing out from it’s torso. It goes down.

E2 stumbles up towards Cora as well; Attack: 16 Damage: 8

Yasei rushes in up next to Cora, right when E3 begins to move. She darts past the blight with a quick double slash, skidding to a stop. The blight stands there for around 3 seconds before the cut lines appear all over it’s body. It’s bosy slowly falls into pieces and hits the dust.

E4 is right next to Yasei coincidently and swipes: Attack: 15 Damage: 7

E5 points an arm at Ruxio, and sends needles shooting in his direction! Hundreds of tiny splinters soar through the air; Attack: 8 Damage: 11

Ruxio fumbles with his boomstick a little. Those watching see him flip in a small, glowing yellow canister which looks like it has a miniature storm brewing inside of it. He takes a moment and grits his teeth, taking steady aim at E4: Attack: 26 Damage: 17

Ooh, yeah, E4 is completely obliterated with another cracking BOOM of yellow energy.

Dani and cora are up!

Danica fired another shot, targeting the new foe that had rolled up to Cora.

Attacking E2:

Attack: 18 Damage: 10

Shink The bolt strikes true, once again, sending it stumbling backwards slightly.
