Nox:
Nox took her mead and sat at a table where she had a view of the entire tavern. She watched and listened, drinking her mead all the while. Perhaps, if she was lucky she would overhear important information while she enjoyed her drink.
After travelling for days, Barxik decided to stop by the old church for a short prayer to his patron after safely reaching the town of Bittborg before going to the local tavern, the Grainy Gulper.
On his back rests a warhammer and a shield with an emblem of two hands tied with red strands. Combine it with his dark red skin covered with chainmail and his gauntlets tied with red strings, Barxik's appearance really captures the people's eyes. With the depressing aura filling the air and the rumors of the mayor's daughter is kidnapped, Barxik sighs as he takes a seat.
"Barkeep, a hearty meal for a weary traveler please."
As the food is served, he grasps his hands as he makes a small prayer before making small talk to the barkeep.
"There are rumors that the mayor is locking himself in his room. Do you know how can I reach him? He may need guidance during his troubling times."
Ironwall: You are asking for more music but Stelva seems to not care much as you watch her rummage through your things. "Bah, nothing that good huh?" She seems to be looking for something. "Since you don't have much worth taking maybe I can use you for something else--Wha?" She stops short as she hears some commotion happening outside and she tells you to shut up and she peers out at the dark rooftops... You start realizing you've been up here a while now and you feel normal again almost. It's been about an hour.
Vappa: It is dark enough and nobody is paying much attention to the roofs that you remain stealthed up there. You spot a heavily armed/clothed Tiefling(Barxik) head inside.
Kyu: The Tabaxi is too fast and you are not as familiar with Bardic magic. You know something is fishy with her because the Goliath was obviously letting his guard down. They vanished though.
Bartimaeus: You are practically invisible as you sneak around and climb and crawl through the alleys and walls of Bittborg. You pick up a few whispered conversations from the shadows about the kidnapping and the way the mayor has been acting. The most reliable rumors seem to indicate the Drow was headed to an Underdark entrance somewhere Southwest of the Sword Coast, near the Wetwoods(AKA Flooded Forest). Roughly 300 miles south of where you are now, near Westgate. You manage also to see the top tower of the Mayor's manor. There are some strange lights flashing and sparking inside, something magical perhaps?
Nox: There is a lot of background noise in here. The one thing that you manage to pick out of the mumbled conversations that is of interest to you, is some information about trouble with hauntings lately. A farm on the outskirts of the town seems to be plagued by spirits, and nobody knows where the farmers have vanished to. Somebody whispers drunkenly, "If ya ask me that land is cursed! Probably some kinda shadow magic or other evil!"
Barxik: The barkeep informs you that the mayor will only grant an audience to anybody that can bring him the rogue Kilan. He is locked up in his tower with his sage and his butler formulating plans and sending and receiving messages pertaining to the rogue's whereabouts according to a network of informants. It's well known that most authority figures have some kind of spy network or at the very least eyes in the crowd. If you could contact some of the mayor's staff in public you may have a better chance of meeting with him or gaining more info on Kilan and what has transpired. "Perhaps you should try praying at the old church holy man. Gods tend to know more than tavern riff raff, I have to be off now thank ye'."
All of you are going about your business in or around the tavern. It is getting dark now. The moon is rising.
Then there is a scream outside!
Footsteps rushing to the tavern and the door bursts open!
"GIANT SPIDERS! THEY ARE CRAWLING ALL OVER THE ROOFTOPS! THEY JUST GOT A FEW OF US!"
Outside the commotion grows louder and the scene inside the tavern turns chaotic!
(Everybody please roll initiative for this encounter.)
gonna pull out my short bow and take to the rooftops, leaping from building to building trying to find others who are fighting off the spiders.I can give another acrobatics check if you like
Vappa silently watches the people scurry about as he slowly pulls out his short sword and holds the hilt in his mouth. He then takes out a black bandana and wraps it around his face, not covering his eyes. He pivots from the roofs edge and begins the hunt for his new prey.
(Vappa and Nox are basically acting at the same time but one is outside one is inside.) Bartimaeus is up first, sorry if somebody else finishes rolling initiative after this post, just wanna keep it moving relatively fast.
Bartimaeus: A Giant Spider has climbed up the neighboring roof to yours and is prowling around the edges looking for something to drop down and grab.. You remain stealthed about a roof away, 25' or so with a 5' gap between the roofs.
As chaos starts to unfold within the tavern, Barxik hits his shield with his warhammer and with a booming voice using Thaumaturgy he instructs the people.
"Calm down everyone, stay indoors, and bar every windows and doors. If there are truly giant spiders, they would have difficulty entering this establishment with their size. You can rest assured that as long as I am here, I'll do my best to keep everyone out of harm's way."
Bartimaeus: You see down on the street that a few town militia are trying to corner a couple of spiders in an alley but it looks like they are about to be trapped. Another spider is approaching the 3 men from the alleyway entrance. Do you act at all or still no action?
Barxik is up next. Inside the tavern, half the patrons run into their rooms and bolt the doors. The barkeep is running around trying to break up a few fights and stop people from ruining his establishment. Out the windows you see large spindly arachnid shapes getting closer. Tapping at the glass and wood and trying to find ways in. What do you intend to do?
Ironwall: I ball my fists and approach the bard, anger rising as I realize how I have been tricked. Before I take two steps, I hear what has captured her attention, as well as cries from downstairs. I am tempted to grab her by the throat, since we are safe enough here and she is not paying attention to me. Instead I spy my belongings on the bed. I pick up my axe, shield, and backpack, then head for the door. On the way out, I step on one of her instruments until I hear something crunch.
Downstairs, the crowd parts as I walk across the tavern, patrons slapping me on the back. I am still angry with the cat-lady from upstairs and I shoulder a patron a little too roughly for being too slow to get out of my way in time. I only hear a dull throbbing in my ears instead of whatever noise the tavern is generating as I step out into the moonlight.
Barxik: Everybody seems too distressed to listen. But the strange little halfling Rotleaf appears by your side and nods. "I'll help ye' with these despicable creatures, us weirdos have to stick together." The windows and doors seem to be pretty well built, but there seems to be more shadows appearing every second and it's only a matter of time before they can break in somewhere. Vappa: On your roof you spot a spider (the same one Bartimaeus saw). Below you see another 2 spiders that are trapping 3 militiamen in an alley.
Kyu is contemplating what the best move here would be. Waiting for an opportune moment (hence the poor initiate roll), when an enormous man pushes roughly past me. I've made up my mind, I definitely want to show this dude up!
How close together are those three spiders that are outside? How far are the from the militia?
Vappa: You wound the Giant Spider and as it shrieks and starts looking around for the attacker you leap down ungracefully, bruising your arm and landing in some trash, you are reduced to half speed for a round due to obstructions.
Suggested by Darth, what if instead of initiative in combat we just ran it in blocks (everyone before the spiders, declare actions/everyone sends in what you want for your first turn and we run the monsters before or after the team based on rolls). Sound good? I'm open to all suggestions.

Not wanting to get too close to the spider, unfamiliar with the severity of its poison, Vappa pulls out a dart and flings it, aiming for the head.
