Andor, Carrow, Ladrian, and Vigan position themselves atop the hill that lies to the west of the unsuspecting goblin horde. As the four adventurers prepare to begin their attack, they see movement on the wall of the Keep. A few guards have taken their positions, with heavy crossbows in hand. This prompts the hobgoblins to draw their longbows, preparing to return fire. Three more goblins (#7, #12, and #15) begin to -position themselves in the ogres' catapults.
(Andor, Carrow, Ladrian, and Vigan may take their round 1 actions because they have the element of surprise)

Initiative for bugbear attacked by Rixton: 9
Rixton springs from his hiding place and lands two quick strikes on the bugbear. The beast turns and emits an enormous growl as it raises its morningstar to defend itself. Rixton, however, is too quick and is afforded the next attack.

Vigan
The goliath moves a further 30 feet closer to the horde ahead of the group, and clumsily nocks an arrow. Aiming high, he launches his first arrow towards the centre of the group, before releasing a second in the same direction. He had been on hunts with smaller bows before, but the longbow was a different beast altogether, his inexperience apparent in his technique.
Move 30 feet east, aiming for goblin #10. If it goes down, I'm aiming for #9 with my extra attack. Should be within 150 feet of both, so no disadvantage according to my character sheet.

The bugbear (#1) is wholly unprepared for Rixton's speed and dexterity, and a moment later it breathes its final breath after being slashed by Rixton's sword. Covering the distance between himself and the second bugbear, Rixton strikes a glancing below across the face of his foe. The creature flashes a quick grin, gives Rixton a nudge with its shield, and then makes a big overhead swing with its morningstar...
Morningstar attack: 10| Piercing damage:4

Rixton:
I easily side-step the bugbear's swing, not even lifting my sword to deflect it. Then dart in, cutting at the creature with the sword as I dance around it, finishing with an uppercut at its chin.
Andor pulls the trigger on his crossbow and watches the bolt cut a line through the sky, striking one of the helmeted goblins (#10) between the shoulder blades. The goblin slumps to the ground and begins to tumble down the hillside. Moments later, Ladrian's shot drops a second goblin (#8). The ogres and hobgoblins are unaware of what just occurred, but a few goblins turn and see their fallen comrades on the ground.
Carrrow rapidly fires two arrows from his longbow, both of which bury themselves somewhere in the massive body of the ogre.
Two of the goblins rush forward to alert some hobgoblins of the enemy presence that now lies behind them. The bulk of the hobgoblins maintain their focus on the Keep and aim to eliminate the crossbowmen atop the wall. Four hobgoblins (#1, #2, #3, and #6), however, turn to the west and return fire on those who have sneaked up behind them...
Longbow attack on Ladrian:11 | Piercing damage:4
Longbow attack on Andor:22 | Piercing damage:3
Longbow attack 1 on Vigan:4 | Piercing damage:3
Longbow attack 2 on Vigan:4 | Piercing damage:3
Each of the ogres proceeds with catapulting another goblin toward the Keep, and all three goblins sail high over the wall and land within the confines of the village.
(Players may take their round 2 actions, in any order. For tracking purposes, the only significant changes in the enemies' positions are the four hobgoblins that have fired upon you. They stand exactly 150' from Ladrian, Andor, and Vigan)
Enraged at being struck twice by Rixton, the bugbear (#2) takes a step back and looks for an opportunity to strike his foe. He waits...feints to the right...then swings his morningstar again...
Morningstar attack:24| Piercing damage:8
(Round 4 between Rixton and the bugbear concludes; Rixton may take his round 5 action)
The bugbear's strike is too fast for me, smashing against my right shoulder as I lift my sword to deflect it. I find my shoulder still functional, so move in to finish the bugbear as quickly as I can.
"Well we got their attention, good shooting my friends." Are we moving up? Seems they have more longbow than us, unless we wait until Carrow picks them all off..." The sorcerer suddenly goes rigid and is lifted off the ground moving forward a little, as he does he seems to split into four as a series of duplicates form, and dart around him." Let's give them a few more targets shall we?" he says as his duplicates dance around. "Keep up the barrage, but focus on the ones shooting at us. "

Carrow
The rangers eyes flicker briefly between the four sorcerers now standing before him. "Will do" he replies directing his comment at the murder of Andors parading in front of him, shifting his aim he now considers the Hobgoblins firing at the group. Running his thumb and forefinger along the length of his bowstring a cluster of small thorns begins to form along its length.

Vigan
The goliath runs forward to get closer to his targets, a couple of arrows flying over his head as he does so. Recalling Carrow's advice, he moulds his breathing around the actions of drawing and releasing, and aims for one of the hobgoblins (#1).

Dexterity save for hobgoblin #2: 20
Carrow's first arrow strikes a hobgoblin (#2), causing the creature to drop to one knee just before it is pelted with hundreds of little thorns. The additional damage caused by the ranger's spell is all it takes to finish off the hobgoblin. Vigan takes another turn with his longbow, and this time both arrows hit their mark. Ladrian's shot narrowly misses one of the goblins; he can hear the bolt ricochet off one of the spiked helmets.
The ogres and goblins continue their assault on the Keep, and three more goblins succumb to being hurtled through the air and crashlanding within the village. The bulk of the hobgoblins continue firing arrows at the guards on the wall, but three of them (#1, #3, and #6) target their foes to the west...
Longbow attack on Vigan:13| Piercing damage:3
Longbow attack on Ladrian:20| Piercing damage:7
Longbow attack on Andor:17| Piercing damage:6
Roll (d20) to see if Andor or one of his mirror images is struck by the arrow: 9
Despite having three duplicates of himself, Andor is struck by the hobgoblin's arrow.
(All players may take their round 3 actions in any order)
Updated map for Andor, Carrow, Ladrian, and Vigan:
Rixton's shortsword stings the bugbear again, but the creature ducks behind his shield to evade the ensuing open-handed martial arts attack. Severely wounded and bleeding profusely, the bugbear takes a desperate step forward and swings his morningstar in a large, horizontal arc...
Morningstar attack:14| Piercing damage:13
(Round 5 concludes between Rixton and the bugbear)
MindDetective, let's pause the action and give the others a chance to complete a couple rounds. I don't want the two timelines to grow any farther apart.

Rixton sees that a second bugbear has broken away from the main group and now dashes toward the melee.
(Round 3 action for Rixton is next)
Meanwhile, to the west of the Keep, a volley of crossbow bolts descends upon the horde from the wall as Vigan sends two errant arrows through the air.
(Andor, Carrow, and Ladrian may make their round 1 actions)
