As Drak fell, Thimbol retrieved his dagger from the lizard's foot only to jump on top and stab the creature in the chest. The display merely a distraction as he searched for the thieves tools.
(So anyone that is watching thimbol during the the events unfolding can make a perception check, otherwise I will base it off your passive perception if anyone notices take the thieves tools back.)
Thimbol, knowing exactly what his tools looked like is able to spot the small bag containing the tools on the belt of the lizardfolk and quick slip his hand down after plunging his dagger into Draks dead body and in one motion unhook them from Drak's belt and attach them to his own before rolling off the dead bloodscale and taking a moment to catch his breath.

Coming in to stare at the mess and immediately going to the Mayor, "It's okay, Mayor. We have you just hang on, we will do everything we can. Is Drak dead? Thim?"
(Drak was dead when thimbol put a rapier through his brain.. and then when he stabbed him in the heart afterwards he was extra dead lol... but I will let Thimbol tell you that :) )
With a 6, Lorarilla is pretty sure the mayor is not bleeding anymore and is breathing she thinks... but that is it.
Navek never got a word out. Though his eyes drifted in the direction of the trail of blood, once their eyes met again, he was just too relieved to prod her further for answers. Plus...
But then, she tore out the door, ignoring her own lingering trauma and leaving behind a goliath floundering to even begin following after her. Eventually, a very much winded and wild-eyed Navek comes storming in through the door. The first question to come to his lips dies in his throat seeing Payne passed out next an unconscious mayor, and thimbol eviscerating the lizardfolk. Seeing Lora already in the process of tending to the fallen, Navek turns to the halfling and says tiredly, "That's enough, little Thumb. You got'em." After placing a hand on Thimbol's shoulder in hopes calming the angered halfing he then turns to the others.
"Sayre. See what you can do about our friends here. Mo. Get the town healer in quick. You know the one. I'm gonna see if I can turn off the alarm back at the jail, and do a patrol. See if I can find anymore of their comrades lurking about." He leaves on that word, but not without sparing Payne one last look.
I'm gonna go ahead and do this at disadvantage as Navek is flustered to say the least as is on top of everything else. Perception: 12.

Navek makes his way back to the jail and is able to find a bloody button under her desk at the end of the blood trail next to where the Hobgoblim had been found.
Navek would also know that the church is nearby The moment the alarm stops, concerned villagers start to make their way out of the church where they had taken shelter and walking past Father Bryon who is standing in the doorway watching them leave.
Sayre has proficiency with an herbalism kit but that's it! I think she could like stabilize but they're both stable so...
After making sure Mo can find Father Bryon, Sayre will go over to whatever party members lingering around the bloody scene.
"Maybe let's just kill them next time," Sayre says with a frown to any party member in earshot. "They chose their path. As we have chosen ours. No quarter given, no mercy," she'll add resolute returning to the jail to make sure Payne is seen too by Father Bryon as well as the mayor.

So Sayre makes sure that Higgins and Payne are stable before catching up with Navek and getting father Bryon. After filling him in on what you know on the way over, he says a small prayer and casts cure wounds on the both of them. As he casts the spells, their wounds begin to close and the color begins to return to their faces. Mayor higgins will look to Thimbol and give him a small smile "You fight well, I made a good decision in hiring you..." before passing out again. Payne doesn't wake from her heavy slumber as her wounds heal up as well, leaving only a pair of small scars on the back of her head that are easily hidden under her hair. "They should both be fine but they need rest... the poison flowing through their veins has done a number on them... their wounds will finish healing and their strength will return within a few days" the stout dwarf cleric will say to the group as well as the crowd of people forming around the mayors office. A moment later Smoke will make his way through the crowd and cast levitate on the Mayor and Sheriff before taking them with father bryon towards the church. "I will have these two under my supervision at the church... If you need anything from them that is where they will be... but please let them rest." The dwarf will stress, his voice firm and a look of anger washing across face as he glances at the two injured individuals floating next to him. A moment later Father Bryon will turn and will dissapear back into the church with smoke carrying his precious cargo with him.
"I have no idea buddy but we're going to have to set up a watch on the town," Sayre says looking to Mo and patting his huge arm. "Buddy system is definitely a thing now. Definitely," she adds.

Going to Drak and making sure his eyes are shut in death, "I wanted to save you, why did you have to do this? Why didn't you let me do this. You stupid Lizard, I hope you find peace in the afterlife. Even if you were a bastard in life." Walking up beside Mo and leaning against him with her arms holding herself. "I wonder how much it will cost to wall in the town? Who wants to be my buddy?"
Sayre will move around and put an arm around Lora shoulders. "We're buddy yes," Sayre says with a soft smile. "Let's get them out of the street eh," she says next gesturing at Steve and Drak.
"Yes please. I don't know what to do with them, but we can always cremate them. Return them to the land in a way." Leans on Sayre and sighs. "I shouldn't have tried being merciful, it is okay going to hurt others I care about. I am sorry, Sayre. I almost cost us two people."
"I do not blame you. Mercy is in your nature but I was raised on the road where nature, as well as some folk, showed my people none. We're the city guard now I think we all share the burden of this misstep and learn from it," Sayre will reply. Sayre looks for Navek and Thimbol. "Should we bury them outside the city? I do not think we should honor them among Black Oak's dead," she adds.

"Just make sure they are not disturbed."The goliath warned in passing to the dwarf with far more hostility than usual. Realizing this a second later, he bows his head in apology, and keeps it so until Father Bryon and Smoke have left the group. In the following moments, Navek has been quiet, contemplative, and not really looking at anything or one except the ground or the bodies.
After Lora's goodbye, the rest of fury in Navek's system leaves as a heavy sigh. "... It wasn't a mistep. Not wholly. But this is no times of 'if only'." He says, shakes his head and runs a hand over his bald scalp near the end. "In spite our differences, it best they are buried on consecrated ground, if only to prevent their rising again. Mo. Thim--" He frowns, reconsidering given the Halflings state of being. "I'll leave it to you two. But Mo. I want you to stick with Thimbol. See to it that he gets cleaned up and patched up. Lord knows having to face both of them alone with the Mayor could not have been easy."He say solemnly. "
"Sayre. Lora. I want you two to investigate the prison. See if you can suss out how they got it. I'm... I guess I'll talk to the people that gathered. Make sure they know the danger has passed for the time being. Maybe I'll be able to enlist some aid in getting rid of the bodies... But Afterwards, we all meet up back to the Inn to either consider our next move. I'll need the time as well to write up so letters anyways. See if I can at least get one or two of my old running buddies to at least temporarily keep watch while we deal with the Blood Scales once and for all."

When the adrenaline finally ceased, Thimbol could barely move. Could barely think. The events that unfolded weren't unexpected, but they happened sooner than he anticipated. He wasn't able to prepare properly and almost cost the lives of two innocents because of his terrible choices.
As his thoughts cleared so much had already happened after Drak finally stopped breathing. The halfling looking around at everyone working so diligently to save the mayor and sheriff, he had forgotten about his own injuries until stumbling slightly as he tried to take a few steps. The poison still lingering.
"I think I'm ready to go back to the inn and see my room." Thimbol gets out before collapsing.

Mo scoops up Thimbol as he staggers on his feet. "Come on little buddy, lets get you some rest" Mo puts the halfling up on his shoulder and casts Cure Wounds on him for 4. "I'll get him patched up and then I'll come back and take these bodies over to see the holy man."
