Bonnie returns to the table with breads and roasted meats. "Now, is this good, or is meat not good enough for some of you?" She pauses for a moment. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Everybody at the table, give yourself 5 temporary hit points. As written, the adventure grants this for people who drink that first round of special brew, but I am not about to penalize people who for roleplaying reasons refuse a mug. Teetotalers can assume that goodness was baked into the bread.
"MISTER Bighat!"
a voice rings out as the group of adventurers start to move towards the block-and-pulley mechanism.
"Och, here we go," says Bonnie as she clears the empty mugs.
You see the flushed halfling at the stage turn with a start. Behind him is an easel with a sign on it, with a table of dates and currencies.
"These beings are risking their lives in the Undermountain!", Durnan says, sharply. "I will not have ye placing bets on when - or if - they return! Not here!"
The halfling recovers, and turns to the barkeep, smiling broadly while doffling an impressively large bowler hat.
"I would not dream of sullying your establishment, my good man!," he says while reaching into his hat. From the depths of this headpiece he pulls a scroll, which he unrolls to a comically long length - it hits the floor and keeps on going. "And indeed, I have not. Our contract clearly states that, should any activities take attention from our cavalcade of delights, I have every right to incorporate it into our performance, taking any action or control I deem necessary." He drops to his knees and starts rolling it up. It might take a while. "And so, the show must go on! Rest assured, my good man, we will treat your halls, your guests, and these brave souls with the utmost in respect and dignity." He looks up while trying to gather his scroll. "Last call -- place your bets! Five could win you ten should they get out alive!"
You can see the back of Bonnie's shoulders shaking as she approaches Durnan's bar. He sees her, and chuckles ruefully himself. "Ah, just leave me out of it."
The roleplay to date has been fantastic - thank you. Only a few have submitted preferences, and some of those have opined that they will think of roleplay challenges as they get to know each other's characters more through these interactions. Take your time - as long as you all are having fun, so am I.
Jun looks over at the sound of Durnan's shout. As the halfling presents his argument, he sighs slightly, then turns back to the table.
"Pardon me for a moment..."
Jun then holds his hand open in front of him, palm up. The air above his palm swirls for a few seconds before a slightly larger than average, silver-feathered hummingbird seems to materialize out of the moving air. Jun and the bird lock eyes for a few seconds. The bird then seems to give a nod before hopping to the rim of Jun's cup sitting on the table. The air swirls around the cup once more as the bird seems to take a long drink, before it flies off in the direction of the easel. It hovers in front of the easel for but a second before spraying black colored liquid all over the column of currencies, then promptly flies toward the door of the tavern, fading back into the air as it flies.

Rue watches this exchange with bright interest, which isn't really different from how he's been watching anything, but still. He seems mildly puzzled and, after a few moments, picks up his flute again. Din be damned, he plays a calm, light tune this time.
"I admire your willingness, to, umm....carry a tune in here" says a soft voice from behind Rue. The words seem cutting, but there is no malice behind them, only a good, if somewhat awkward, nature. The speaker carries with him a beaten and battered lute, which has only three strings on it. "Perhaps we can help each other out? Try and follow." He begins plucking at the strings, encouraging you to play along.
Turning away from the scene with the halfling and his scroll, Cassandra raises a stern eyebrow at Arvel, glances over at Jun, looks down at herself, looks back at Jun, then turns back to Arvel.
Her face is not amused.
"I don' think I heard ye' rightly. Do ye' want te say tha' again?"
For his part, Jun chuckles slightly and goes back to sipping his drink.

Aerys smiles at Cassandra's reaction, "Just a simple question!" He takes another drink as he looks at everyone inside the tavern. "Quite a few people here, is it always this packed in here?"
Orynn's hard expression softens a little at Arvel's overly persuasive plead. He takes on a more worried look. "M'name's ... " The half-elf closes his eyes and looks as if he is doing something very difficult. "M'name's Orynn. I'm new to Waterdeep." He quickly looks at each of the faces to see if there's any sign of recognition.
“Well don Arven “ Dekket says in low voice distracting himself for a second of the big mechanism that will lower the adventurers down “That could have ruined the evening for all, thanks”

A fine mist of house special flies across the table when Cassandra hears Aerys's comment.
"A COUPLE?!?!?" she blurts out with an aghast look on her face as she slams her mug down, "We are NA' a COUPLE!"
((Anyone who would like to, make a DC12 Perception check, reading the spoiler on a success.))
You both see and smell faint wisps of smoke rising from Cassie's hands as she has her outburst.
"You'd bes' be takin' tha' back, ya' lily-livered lout with no..."
Cassie suddenly goes silent when the much louder shout of Durnan rings through the crowd at the halfling.

Cassie gives the overly-talkative half elf a long, stern look before leaning back in her chair again and taking another drink from her mug.
"We only jus' met, so it feels a tad pushy ye' askin' us all to 'be honest' and spill our guts for ya."
Another sip, then she sets the mug down with a sigh.
"Though I'll admit, I'm gettin' more riled up than I should be, an I 'pologize for that."
She ducks her head slightly with a quick glance to everyone at the table.

Jun finishes off his cup in one swift drink and gives a heavy sigh before looking back at Orynn.
"Would it help to know you can whisper back? Up to 120ft away? And no one else can hear it?"
Jun then resettles himself to keep an eye of the big hatted halfling, wondering when it will notice the ink-colored stain on its easel.
