Dipping a hand into a pocket, Arvel dabs a touch of makeup under each of his eyes. His eyes flash with pure gold light and the bland makeup takes on that golden sheen.
He speaks to Trapp, his voice sounding normal to anyone else listening, but to Trapp the charlatan's voice has taken on a honeyed, seductive quality.
Valas Trapp pauses before continuing, and smiles. "I don't see the harm with a quick glance on the way. Very well."
Slowly, conspiratorially, he pulls the tube from his vestments. In it are two parchments. The first is the faux instructions you fabricated. "This is from Dalakhar himself, detailing the location of the Vault of Dragons. I will be rewarded richly for this!" He motions to the other one, received from Leilani. "And, since I always throw my employers a bonus, this exquisite creation names people who are even now violating the laws of Waterdeep to find it! Is it true? I don't know? But it will fetch some coin as well!"
You have to take his word as to the contents of Leilani's paper, as, though the letters appear Common, it is written in a complex cipher. After affording you a glance, he tucks them back in the tube.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arvel carefully places his hands on Trapp's shoulders, turning him ever so slightly.
"You must listen to me very carefully. Focus on what I say and be sure you understand. We are all in danger until this information is delivered. You must reach your destination safely and quickly. Our enemies are many and powerful and our employers will not look kindly on our failures."
Arvel has turned Trapp, distracting him with honeyed words. Dekket can notice that the tube is dangling near to hand.
It's my intention to set Dekket up to pickpocket the info with the Help action.
If a Persuasion or Deception check is needed (same roll either way):
As Trapp continues to regard Arvel as an old friend, there may be a opportunity where he is not clutching the tube tightly.
OOC: Creatively played, and I would certainly grant Dekket advantage on the roll, should he wish to attempt it. However, you can tell that, despite Arvel's distraction, he still maintains some focus on the tube, as it is his entire mission this evening. (Translation: Advantage on the roll, but will be a high DC)
It appears your other rolls sucked all bad karma away from you to preserve this one roll - would have been a nat20 even with disadvantage.
Trapp engages in small talk with Arvel, wondering how he could possibly have been suspicious of this old friend. When he lifts his arm away from the tube in his pocket to clap Arvel on the shoulder, Dekket's hand knifes into the space and plucks the tube away, unseen. For the moment, at least, Trapp is too involved in conversation to place his hand back again, but you sense, as protective as he has been, he is likely to check again at least once before his meeting.
OOC: Friends lasts a minute, but only a few moments have passed, so you still have 40 or 45 seconds left.

Seeing the slick maneuver played out between the three, Orynn decides its time for a diversion. He pulls back his bowstring and fires an arrow, aiming for the road as close to Trapp as he can get.
"Of course, of course!" Trapp looks at the arrow, and then to Arvel. "Thank you, my friend!" He flees the attackers, rushing headlong off down the alley, towards his rendez-vous around the corner.
If nobody does anything to stop him at this point, he will be out of site and towards his rendez-vous point in seconds.
As soon as Trapp is out of sight, Arvel turns to Dekket.
"Grab zee ciphair, leave our fake and zee tube. Allons-y! We don't 'ave much time."
The charlatan turns to the group.
"We need to leave. Now. It might not even be safe to return to zee Portal. We only 'ave a matter of seconds before zee jig is up, so let's put in some distance before we discuss options."
Cassie blinks, dumbfounded that this actually seems to have worked.
"You don't have to tell me twice," she says quietly with a tinge of nerves in Arvel's direction. "Something tells me you just made us all a powerful enemy, and I'd rather not be here when he gets back. Would it be a good idea for us all to split up? Or should we stay together?"
Dekket nods at Arvel as he was already taking the other parchment and leaving his own fake in the tube and throwing the tube near the arrow fired by Orynn, so Trapp could think that it fell and cracked open in his run.
Running alongside Arvel he gives him the parchment and says
“That was close but it worked out. Do we know where are we going? “ he says trying to keep his pace.
“We can’t go back to zee Portal just yet. We may ‘ave been recognized. I know a boarding ‘ouse zat should be safe. At least for a discussion of options.”
Cassie makes sure that the letter Leilani gave to Trapp is recovered before moving to follow the others, though she gives Jun a meaningful look to see if that's what he'll be doing as well.
Orynn - and those who stay - can hear this. Those who have decided to leave do not, but you likely would only get dozens to maybe a hundred yards away before this transpires, as a) the rendez-vous was just around the corner, and b) Friends would wear off within seconds after you organized enough to talk and go.
"I have the promised goods, and a little bonu-." comes a voice you recognize as Trapp's.
"Really?" answers a deep, calm voice. "You know what happens to those who promise and. Do. Not. Deliver?"
"I had it -- that bastard!"
A rush of footsteps, and Trapp rushes back to the scene at a blistering pace for one so frail. He is followed closely by two burlier types.
Orynn can use his existing stealth roll; anybody else who stayed needs to make a new one, unless of course you choose to remain in the open and/or confront them.
( I am confused... did we were able to leave or does he run into us? I hope he doesn't and that he gots what he deserves for beign so mean with us ;) )

Smiling widely at Arvel’s movements Dekket sees his opportunity and tries to catch the tube without Trapp’s noticing it...
( With the bad lucks I am having with Dekket rolls lately... let’s do this anyway I love it!! 24 )
