The pair heads off in the direction of the distraction, evidently looking for something. Another sort of distraction reaches your ears -- a rather pitiful mewling, coming from near the stage. Bonnie hurries by with a saucer of milk, muttering "I'm comin, I'm comin...of all days o Durnan to forget."
Blue Eyes's eyes widen then he motions to his companions and begins walking over to the stage to see where the mewing is coming from. "Kitty," he whispers.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Blue Eyes (and Darruk?) follow Bonnie towards the stage. Under the wooden steps, a mangy (but cute) tomcat laps at the saucer of milk that she left. As she turns, she nods to you and says "Pay no mind to Marmaduke. He graces us with his presence most night - Durnan can't resist giving him milk every day. Eh, truth be told, he's a cat -- lives wherever he wants -- but he always ends up in the bar at night, under the stage on days it's out."
Glory hopes Valafar is able to learn more about what his new friend has hidden in his coat. With the new comers moving to the other side of the tavern, Glory moves closer to the stage to catch a glimpse of what the excitement is about there.
Valafar hear's Glory's voice, but he doesn't react any. "Leoros, my friend. Be calm. Nothing stands out more than a man trying not to be seen, ya know." The Tiefling drums his fingers on the magic rod he produced "Let's see what's what with this hat, eh?"
The cat stares blankly at Darruk. Not hostile, not affectionate - just that simple expression common to all felines wondering if you could possibly ever do anything worthy of its attention. It then goes back to lapping at its saucer under the steps.
Leoros hesitantly looks to Valafar, then off in the general direction of the pair making their way through the taproom. "I trust you. If you think you can help, lean in closer," he whispers, then pulls back a bit. "Wait...I see you with friends. How do you know you can trust them?"
Valafar leans in and shakes his head "I don't know. I just met them. But this is me and you, and not them. That's why it's just me here sitting with you."

Leoros looks unsure, but leans in again, drawing out this cap that has caused him so much grief. As you are about to get your first close glimpse...
SMASH! The tavern wall explodes inwards, showering patrons with dust and rubble! A tangled wreck of iron and wood tumbles through the hole, hitched to a team of frothing horses. Luggage tumbles from the vehicle’s roof and spills out over the floor!
One of Waterdeep's signature carriages crashes through the wall of the tavern. Patrons scatter, and not a few screams go up. The crash knocks an oil lamp onto the stage, and some curtains on the stage quickly catch flame. The table of patrons closest to the carriage also tips over, sending several patrons to the brink of the portal. Some of them are overbalanced, clinging precariously to the lip and in danger of falling to the blackness below. If that was not enough, the carriage apparently contained some sorcerer or sorcerer's apprentice - or at least the rat's luggage - and magical broomsticks have spilled out, and have started to sweep up (more like bludgeon) the patrons.
From his distant spot behind the bar, Durnan roars "Ah, ye little hustler! You wanted to control all night? Control this, NOW!"
The halfling, for his part, seems content to cower behind the non-burning corner of the stage.
To avoid a long pause where we wait for individual rolls, I am going to take the liberty of rolling everybody's initiative when appropriate. Note from above there are multiple things going on, even in the first round - the broomsticks are out, the right half of the stage is burning, and the four patrons on the east/northeast arc of the Portal are all in danger of falling.

Sorted order - I will bold people who are free to go. If you have coordinated/dependent efforts, e.g. somebody buffing or similar, please sort that out as you post.

Valafar leaps up from his chair "What in the Nine Hells?!" He takes a quick look around as chaos breaks loose. "I...Uh...Leoros!" He shoots Leoros a look "Stay here! Stay safe!" With that, he moves forward 30ft towards the people about to fall into the pit. Knowing he can't get there in time, he thrusts his blasting rod out towards the brooms! In an effort to keep them from knocking those poor souls into the portal, he fires a barrage of Magic Missile !
If you have moved yourself right next to them, it is certainly reasonable to use a reaction to attempt to catch one if he/she falls. It may leave you slightly more vulnerable to a rampaging medieval Roomba, however.

For the sake of keeping things moving along while I sleep (Im on night shift) I'll post my actions, and someone can insert them in the proper order, unless Im knocked out or killed by something before my turn.
Saraba takes in the area around him. Seeing Darruk moving to help the people about to fall, he decides to take on the magical brooms.
Swaying in place he eyes the broom across the table, then suddenly quicker then one would expect from his apparently inebriated state, he leaps across it attempting to do a flying kick to the broom followed by a backhand fist.

Unsure what is happening as a stranger distracts and a kitty entices, Darruk follows forward ready to rage and swing an axe...if he has to

Darruk looks at what appears to be just a cat. ha, here I was thinking there might be some excitement. Just wishful thinking I suppose. Good kitty.
Animal handling 10 Darruk goes to scratch the cat behind the ear.

Not doing this post just yet, which yes, does mean I will reroll. Glory is up; Blue Eyes, you do not go until after the brooms.
Are any other patrons still in immediate danger of falling, if so is it reasonable to try and use a reaction to grab them if close enough?
