Lae places his hand on Zander’s shoulder once again and casts guidance. “Woah now madam! Let’s not be hasty! We’re not here to cause you any harm... surely my friend here can convince you otherwise”.
Friends is a strong word... Look I have no idea about this Vistani, All we know is there's something very wrong going on here and we'd like to help. Zander looks back at the group and shrugs. (can I make a persuasion check?)
Lae says to Zander, “take everyone back to the gate”...
Then quickly puts a hand against the door to prevent the woman from closing it and blurts out, “We mean no harm to you, or your father I swear it!... We only wish to help! These Visanti, as you say, came to our lands causing trouble and we agreed to aid them, but without a full account of the issues here... which is obvious to me only now.. won’t you help fill me correct my mistake.. so we don’t cause any harm when we only intended good?” with that Lae pulls out another dessert pie and offers it to the lady.
Lae rejoins the group at the gate, “She didn’t bite” Lae chuckles to himself as he puts the pie back in his satchel. On a serious note, “She must really not like you Stanimir, care to tell us why? And who was she referring to when she said we’re helping him?
"She refers to Strahd, the...ruler...of this land. Perhaps we should press on to Madam Eva, unless, that is, you want to look into this 'Mad' Mary issue." (You can still here the crying here.)
Stanimir huffs, then sighs and turns. "Fine. The story goes that during one of Strahd's military campaigns, many years ago, a group of Vistani rescued him after he was wounded in battle. They not only nursed him back to health but also delivered him safely home. As a reward, he declared that all Vistani had the right to come and go from his land as they please, and this privilege extends to the present day. Thus, many think we are his willing servants, and sadly some are, yet what I told you before is true. He has changed. We need help, all of Barovia needs help. Shall we be off to Madam Eva or shall we see to this crying?"
Lae does everything be can to prevent his jaw going slack at Stanimir’s retort.
”Uhh.. I.. didn’t mean too.. uhh, let’s go on to Madam Eva’s, that moaning doesn’t sound like it’s going to stop anytime soon, it will be here when we get back...and we need all the information we can get to help make things right”.
That seems believable, Stanimir. Alright Lae, lets go to Madam Eva first. You're probably right, and maybe the Madam can shed more light on the house and it's inhabitants.

As you leave the town headed west, you return to a path through the woods. After a couple of miles, from the south wind carries the sound of howling, then a scream, followed by a return to the eerie silence.

“What aren’t you telling us Stanimir? Why was the Burgomasters daughter so eager to get you away?”
Stanimir huffs, then sighs and turns. "Fine. The story goes that during one of Strahd's military campaigns, many years ago, a group of Vistani rescued him after he was wounded in battle. As you leave the town headed west, you return to a path through the woods. After a couple of miles, from the south wind carries the sound of howling, then a scream, followed by a return to the eerie silence.
”There’s that damnable howling again, there’s going to be no one left to save if it keeps happening” utters Lae in a hushed voice.
" i swear if it doesn't stop i will give it a reason to scream"
