(@Tanzier Also hey! Me, Dori, and Lif did some cleaning yesterday! D:< But I'll take that retconned Bedroll, oh kind and generious DM)
With the exception of his fancier evening attire, which he left folded up neatly in one of the few scoured spots in his room, Sizan gathers his things to join the others probably already down by the bar, if not the second level. "Since we will probably wish to use the Dray system to shave at least some time, I say will ki--"He stops short and looks to Cloudfur, remembering his outburst about 'finger foods'. "...'handle' two things at once by asking the drivers if they knew anything about Maxeene's Driver, Drayson Fairlittle. With any luck, they'll know the name well enough to point out the route and timing. With any luck, we might even come right across their route."
Sizan continues to rub his hands together as he has done so over the past few minutes. "But before that, or.. on the way, we should get breakfast. Maybe even stop by the portal along the way."
Well you're fairly close to the North Gate, if that's where you wanted to go out. You probably wouldn't need a lift there. River gate might be a different story and is closer to the village. You also don't know specifically where the incidents have happened, and Undercliff is a big place.
Dori makes the long trip downstairs, outside, and then back in. None too happy with the layout, but...
Entering the main room, he'd wait until all had gathered other than Sizan before saying a word. Unless he was last to arrive again. "We should start storing the pantry with food for Lif to make us, but, yes, we should go get some breakfast until then. Out of the city I can find food if live game isn't a problem. Though we'll have better luck getting a few questions answered if we find a tavern. "
"Agreed. We'll need to do a little more cleaning up, but having something in stock to save time would be nice." Sizan admits, as he slips out some jerky. Not enough for a proper breakfast, but at least just enough to get by on till they reach their next destination. "Back to the portal? Place is usually busy enough that folk will probably know more. Lots of adventuring types too frequent the place. Know strange things. Could even.. yes... Could even have more answers about both of our problems. And if not, will be a step closer to River Gate, and by extension Undercliff Village. Haven't frequent the place myself much, but I know it to be the larger settlement of Undercliff. See." Sizan will pull out his map next, and spread it out for all to have a proper look at it.

Emerging from upstairs Gargan looks to Dori and gives him a warm smile as he sees him before greeting everyone who has gathered thus far "Morning fellows." He then moves over to check his note to Mr Fellbranch is still intact and ready at the bar just in case Tally comes later in the day after the group has departed.
Having just caught the end of Sizan's conversation as he entered he adds "I for one would most appreciate a healthy bite to eat if we are headed to the Yawning Portal to begin our investigations."
The Tabaxi slowly wanders down the outside stairs and through the door to the tavern with everyone else. He yawns and at the mention of breakfast his ears perk up.
"Breakfast sounds like an excellent idea, the rat I just found was certainly not enough....to the Yawning Portal!" and he'll bounce back and forth on his feet in excitement.
Tally shows up just as you are preparing to leave. You let him in and explain that you're heading out on some tasks in order to make some coin for the work he's doing, which he is more than happy to hear. "Not a problem, I'm happy to go about my business here. It'll take me some time to take measurements anyway - as long as you're fine leaving me here on my own. Just stop by when you're back and we can deal with any questions or recommendations I have!"
You gather your things and set out to the main road to try and catch a dray to the portal as you're walking.
I'm assuming you'll catch a dray to the portal, and then from there to the river gate (you may be able to convince them to take you to the village for a juicy enough tip).
So let's montage this a bit - for each of the two trips roll an investigation check to see if you are able to find a cart to hire and then an intelligence check to see if you can get any information from the driver. To simplify, only one of you roll, but do so with advantage.
General Intelligence Check: 22. (If allowed to use Persuasion then add 2 to the result for the prof bonus)
(@Tanzier I believe Gargan and I are on the same level for the roll, more or less. So, I'll just go ahead and get the rolls out the way with the group or him assisting)
"And Good luck with the other spirit as well." Sizan pats Tally on the shoulder as he walks out after Cloudfur. On the way out, Sizan will see about grabbing some proper winter clothes, and getting dressed up at the earliest opportunity. And unless someone volunteers for it, he offers an additional 2 dragons(gold) to extend the trip to the village when the time comes around.

As he departs Gargan thanks Tally for his help with a smile: “Thank you once again Mr Fellbranch. As my colleagues have mentioned, please don’t mind our resident spirit. After all, ttwas their home long before ours.”
Gargan too would purchase some warm weather clothing as they journey out. He is also happy to let Sizan lead the way as he knows Waterdeep far better.
Ok, you find a passenger dray quite quickly - covered even. - and ask him to take you down to the market, and then to the portal. The driver is a dwarf, bundled up with a long black beard. You ask his name and he gives it - Amrig.
You stop at the market, offer an extra tip the driver to wait and those that want cold weather gear (as described in OOC) can purchase it for 10g each. This is good quality stuff and will keep you warm during exceptionally cold days, though you would still want tents and also should keep a fire going at night.
You proceed on to the portal. On the way you ask the driver about Drayson. Amrig replies "Aye I know 'im. Good lad - Firbolg. Only one that I know of. We all work all over town but where you're goin' - the Yawning Portal - is a pretty major stopping point. Market is too. I'd wager if ye' hung out in either of those places for long enough, he'd turn up."
He pulls up to the tavern and you jump out. The trip was 6 silver - you give him a gold piece. You head into the portal where it's warm, and moderately busy though you don't recognize anyone you know. You're served a hot breakfast (5s each) and then head out again.
Roll Investigation/Intelligence with advantage again for the second trip.
Before Amrig rides off Cloudfur will ask him about his horse and if he can pet him. If given permission, Cloudfur will nose rub the horse and whisper to it in druidic, before smiling and thanking Amrig and going in to the portal.
(OOC - basically I'm meeting the horse :) so I can potentially wild shape in to one later hopefully!)
General Intelligence Check: 23. (If allowed to use Persuasion then add 2 to the result for the prof bonus)
Sizan thanked Amrig for his time, and only gave a Cloudfur a raised brow over the horse thing. But then, he brushes it off quickly, chucking it up to something to study up on later. Though it doesn't show by much Sizan had been antsy over breakfast. At one point he even mutters a "She's not here today... probably best"before properly settling in to eat the rest of his breakfast. It is... a horrifying affair for those of weaker constitutions. Because after unhinging his jaw to inhuman proportions, revealing hollowed fangs, he slides the contents of meats and eggs down his throat, and spends the next few minutes crushing it down in his esophagus on its way down.
But with that business out of the way, he is fairly eager to focus back on the mission. Both during the second trip and whatever can be gathered at the apparent hub that is the portal.
(@All Not that mattered much for this set of checks, but its checks like these I wish I was a cleric for that sweet, sweet, Clearance.)
You hover around the portal for an hour or so hoping to catch sight of Maxeene and her driver. It's cloudy and cold but there is no wind. It's snowing lightly. Just as you're about to pack it in and grab the next one available, you see a dray pull around the corner piloted by a rather large firbolg with pinkish skin and and dark brown hair with a somewhat bushy beard. He's not particularly bundled up - the cold doesn't seem to bother him much. The cart is pulled by a decently sized brown and white horse, covered in a blanket for warmth. His passengers disembark and the lot of you approach him to ask if he's available. "Yes, of course - where are you looking to get to?".
Cloudfur has a bedroll already in his inventory :)
