Vanyel packs his bags and grabs his weapons before heading out asking the path through the forest towards the town. In spite of the danger he also knew he was considered one of the bigger predators as a bugbear so while alert and cautious he also feared little with his axe in his hands.

(They are a local and a follower of Torm, under your words of her divinity.)
"Torm guides us all, as you say." Gamas says, his small halfling hand upon your shoulder. He smiles lightly. "Is there any way I can help?" He is around your age and you've always found him a bit cute.
Ash will look up at Gamas, "Oh, hello there. Couldn't see it was you with the sun behind you like that." Ash stand up. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I've just had a lot on my mind as of late. Torm guides us all.. but sometimes it's hard to tell where he's guiding you." Ash says with a chuckle. "I umm... I'm not sure what to do next. Do you ever get that feeling?"
Vanyel, as you travel through the forest, priding yourself in your size and predatory nature; you hear the roar of a large cat. You suddenly remember that this part of the woods were known to naturally house both large tigers and sleek panthers. The calls of these animals are distant, but much closer than you're comfortable with. (Make a Perception Check)
Kip, you quickly leap to the rafters and wait in silence for a long time. Eventually the sound of the creature is present, as it sits outside the door. There is a heavy rattling, then the sound of it moving to the window.
"Yeah." Gamas replies. "I often don't know what I'm doing." He quickly stammers. "I... I mean in regards to my future. I.. I usually know what I'm doing. Just... um... not right now." He laughs.
As Mercury passes her father he pauses you for a moment. "Give her this dagger. It was my father's. I was going to give it to her one day." He hands you a dagger sheathed in worn black leather and a faded satin blue covering. Then he looks away, and slowly slumps down in the chair, in shock despair as his child leaves.
(Do I think he would be able to see me in the rafters through the window? Can I position myself flat enough against the rafters (assuming they are thick enough) so that he would have a hard time seeing me if I know what direction he will be looking from?)
Penris comes clattering down the stairs with a pack on her back. She sees Mercury and stops, hesitating a moment before jumping lightly down the last step. "So, that was my father," she says with a small sigh. She looks out the window, chewing her lip, and asks, "Do you think we'll come back here?" She immediately shakes her head. "Doesn't matter, does it? I need to follow my path and Krythlynn has said that's with you and others. Shall we go?" She takes a deep breath, hefts the pack on her back, and smiles at Mercury resolutely.
Penris stares at Mercury in shock. "A . . . hug?" she asks in disbelief. She licks her lips and glances around. "But - I - - I don't - - we don't - - well, say goodbye, yes," she mutters to herself. She gives Mercury an odd look and then walks in the direction he pointed. When she reaches her father, she wipes her hands on her trousers, shifting from one foot to the other. Finally, with a sigh, she sticks out her hand. "Well, Father, I guess this is goodbye. I'm not sure when I'll be back." She waits nervously.
"Yeah." Gamas replies. "I often don't know what I'm doing." He quickly stammers. "I... I mean in regards to my future. I.. I usually know what I'm doing. Just... um... not right now." He laughs.
"Would you.. would take a walk with me? I need to talk something out, to help me get my thoughts clear."
If Gamas agrees to take a walk with him they'll head out of town a bit and Ash will fill him in on what he can remember from his dream the night before.
Your father grabs your outstretched hand, and instead pulls you in for a tight hug. You feel his tears pouring down the back of your neck. "I hoped it wasn't true; didn't want it to be." His small but masculine halfling face pulls back to look at you. "But I vowed years ago that if this somehow comes true I'd try to help... and to let you go."
The look on his face screams 'but this is too soon', before he forces his face through a series of emotions; starting with denial and ending in acceptance.
Finally he says; "Don't be a stranger okay? This is still your home; please, please come home when you need. We'll make room for all your friends." At this he turns towards Mercury. "Just ask for Zachary Cherrydrop, even... even if my daughter is no longer with you..." He hugs Penris tighter. "...I'll do what I can do to help."
Vanyel, you here the movement of a large animal somewhere in the woods to the south; it sounds likely bigger than you, though at least a hundred yards away.

"She'll be safe with me, old man. Pluto watching over me, and the others, you have nothing to fear."
Titan tears the drawing of Penris out of his book and hands it to her father. He smiles, and exits the room to meet Penris.
