Vanyel lets out a low oath before dropping the deer and taking his greataxe in hand. "I do not know why you assaulted me in such manner but know that you will never get the chance again."

"You alright Ash?" Your father asks, concerned after seeing you shiver.
Ash will look up, startled a bit because he didn't hear his father approach, "I'm just feeling a bit... off, nothing to worry about. I'm almost finished here, did you want me to deliver these before I start the next order?"
Penris and Mercury enter the tavern, and begin to climb up the tall stools that Haven is known for; footrest included. These stools are pressed up against even taller tables that sit out of reach of any passing Kender.
A Deep Gnome barkeep walks around on his elevated floor behind the tall bar. He calls over. "Cursed one, what do you seek to drink? As for that little Miss; are you even old enough to be here?"
"If you need some time away from the heat and flames, I understand. Take that break and I'll see you again when you return. I'll work on the new order while you're away." Ash's father says to him.
"What is wrong friend? I need to continue down this road..." Kip will say with his hand on his dagger. "The Squirrelings and Wyrwood are allies... now please move aside." The squirreling will stand tall with his voice much more firm and his large tail extended high above his head, the tip twitching in frustration.
Vanyel smiles at the thought of combat and moves his axe from hand to hand in preparation of chopping this wooden construct into splinters. (Initiative: 12 )

Penris frowns at the barkeep's words. "Why does he call you Cursed One, Mercury? You're not cursed, are you? Why would Pluto curse his own Champion?" she asks rapidly. Her eyes widen and she gasps. "Did someone else curse you because you're his champion?! Does that mean someone is going to curse me? How will I know?" She turns and frowns again at the barkeep. "I am perfectly old enough to drink if I should choose to. However, I am not thirsty at the moment, thank you." She sniffs haughtily in his direction and turns back to Mercury. "Do you think the other Champions will come here too? Or should we go seek them out?"
Mercury sighs and puts his hand on Penris' shoulder. "No need to be so nervous, Penris. I don't think anybody is going to curse you."
He turns to the barkeeper. "I'll have a glass of wine please, and just some water for my old friend here."
"I think we need to get on the road as soon as we can, just... after this drink. I'm inclined to believe that we are not to all meet in this place. As for me being cursed, I'm not totally sure but a lot of people tend to call me that around here."
Penris bristles at Mercury's words. "Well, that's just rude. Calling someone cursed when they're not." She sniffs, then sighs. "If we're not supposed to meet here, do you have any ideas where we are supposed to go? I remember everyone, but I don't know how to find them all." She sighs again. Krythlynn, please show me what to do.
"If you need some time away from the heat and flames, I understand. Take that break and I'll see you again when you return. I'll work on the new order while you're away." Ash's father says to him.
Ash sighs, "I really appreciate that, I think I could use the time off." Ash finishes up his work and cleans up his area and takes his leave from the smithy. He starts to head back to his home, but at a point where he should turn left he turns right instead, although he doesn't know why. He lets himself wander, seemingly randomly until he comes to...
"I'm afraid I am as lost as you, and have been for some time. Lets see... all we heard from them as we left was 'Find each other', right? There was nothing else? My memory is not great at the best of times. Maybe we should leave the city and search the wilderness. It has been a few months since I ventured out by myself, but this time I have a companion!"
Mercury smiles and finishes his drink, slapping the table and hopping off the stool.
"Well, if we're heading off into the wilderness for an adventure, I'll need to grab some supplies and say my goodbyes first," says Penris. She hops down nimbly off the stool and smiles brightly at Mercury. "Follow me, it won't take long to gather my things." She heads out the tavern door, waiting for Mercury to catch up. As they head out, she takes his arm and smiles broadly. "My first adventure! This is going to be so much fun! I can't wait until we find the others!" She talks rapidly as they walk, barely taking a breath as she natters on about everything and nothing, heading back towards her home.
(So this is kind of out of nowhere but I spoke with the DM and I wanted to share what my character looked like since Squirrelings are something you may not be familiar with, I know I wasn't until after staring this game. Imagine this but the size of a halfling, this is my character.)
(Yeah, I had never heard of redwall until I started looking for pictures to use for my character and I ended up buying the whole 22 book series today... we will see how I like them :D)
(Honestly I hadn't heard of Squirrelings before this campaign either. When I finally read up on them, I immediately changed it from it being that their forms were a curse, to it being a blessing. Plus I wanted this society to be here already for a few hundred years, so I had to fast forward their cultural evolution.)

Kip, as you look around, it appears that the creature seems to be blocking the natural path that you've been following.

From several small holes on the construct a hollow voice replies to Vanyel; "You will leave this forest or die like the rest of your kind."
