Exploring the rest of the Village (Part 3 – D.O.R.K., Meiva and entourage) – con’t
Meiva scans the surrounding area before heading inside.
Beebo was right. You have hit the mother lode. The Trading Post consists of two rooms; a single large room (20 x 20 feet) containing barrels, sacks and assorted items of larger equipment and a smaller room (10 x 20 feet) with shelves for smaller items and also a bed.
OOC: You can find at least one example (possibly more - let me know if you want more) of any items from the Adventuring Gear table in the PH that has a value of 10 GP or less
Torunn walks back to the square after investigating the building to the northeast. He realizes pretty quickly that the group is no longer there. He then looks around for any ideas of where the group may have gone.
Toruun then looks around for any ideas of where the group may have gone.
It takes Torunn about five minutes to make his way back to the Village Square. However when he arrives it is empty. Not sure where the party has gone he starts to explore the Square in more detail. After about 5 minutes of exploring he catches sight of Jaylen and Kella seemingly in deep conversation on the southern edge of the square. As he makes his way over here he sees D.O.R.K., Meiva, Beebo and Vark entering the Trading Post.
D.O.R.K shakes her head at the supposed 'motherlode'. "Take only what you will need for an extended trip, and no more." She says, sounding exasperated yet mildly amused. As much as a 5' mechanized iron woman can sound as much. She lingers on for a moment or two more to make sure both Beedo and Vark met her eyes, and knew she was serious before stepping outside, having belatedly realized had managed to wandered off on her.
At this rate she was gonna need to collar and bell him...
"No worries, Boss Lady! We'll take MOSTLY the essentials."Beedo says, adjusting his little dwarven helmet and smiles. Vark elbows him in the side, causing Beedo to probably sputter out a correction. "ONNNNLLYyy the essentials." He says while glaring at Vark out of the side of his eyes. Vark brushes it off and starts gathering up the closest equivalent of an 'explorer's pack' worth of supplies. Beedo and presumably his own lackies follow suit, but not without Beedo off-handed jest about Vark and how he used to be 'cool'.
While Vark puts together what he can as mentioned above, Beedo being Beedo (and by extension his minions) will grab things like grappling hook, fishing tackle, an amulet he 'thinks' matches the symbol on D.O.R.K's forehead for both himself and Vark if possible, a backpack, 5 days worth of rations, a mirror(Steel), proper red outfit to go with his bed sheet cape, and ball bearings. Though if he manages to find something REALLY interesting hidden among the motherlode, he'll Sleight of Hand it, claiming -- at least internally -- that it would go to a good cause.

It is now about 10:55 AM and D.O.R.K., Meira, Beebo and Vark come out of the Trading Post and join the others (Jaylen, Kella and Toruun) in the Village Square. Beebo and Vark are proudly carrying fully equipped Explorer Packs, having found all the equipment in the Trading Post necessary to construct them. The richness of the Trading Post meant that there was nothing more than squeals of delight and no rancour from the Goblins as they went shopping. Blik and Flik follow the other two goblins out of the Trading Post laden down with Crowbars, Shovels, Pick-Axes, 10 foot poles, Ladders, 100 feet of rope each as well as Grappling Hooks, because as Beebo explained to D.O.R.K. “you could need all this stuff, Bosslady!”
You realise that Devin (nor Gwerk for that matter) is nowhere to be seen and in fact have not been seen since you passed them at the first cottage on the East path. However, after a few minutes you see Devin, followed by Gwerk (about 30 feet behind) come wandering up the path from the southern part of the Village.
Devin approached the others, waving as he comes up the path.
"I'm not finding anyone in this village. Looks to me like they are all gone. I did scare a couple of goblins out the watch tower back there. They ran into the windmill. We should probably take care of them. "
Suddenly realizing that D had even more goblins in tow and they had gathered equipment from the building they had come out of.
"So adding more goblins to your entourage eh D? And looks like we are helping them loot the village also? Or did you leave gold for those packs they now have."
he says eyeing the new packs the caped goblins have plus new goblins with a pile of goods in their arms.
"No. The payment will be in the rescue of the villagers from Boss Hark. Our next destination once we have finished sorting out the patrols sent here." D.O.R.K responds nonchalantly. "But, if they request for their repurposed goods, or further compensation, I will personally see to it at that time. Further Clarification. They have taken only what may be required."She looks back to her goblin company and cups her chin as if in thought.
"Though I must admit, the ladders are... questionable. However, there is no such thing as being over prepared. As the Dogma of the Fellowship demands: Be Ready--And have a contingency plan."She turns back to Devin. "Query: Does this run counter to your own order's Dogma?"
"Hmm, no not really. " Devin answers D. "My order's dogma is about the love and art of magic. Who is your god anyway D that being prepared is part of the dogma? "
"Clarification. Goddess. And as my 'namesake' -- my designation implies, she is the Red Knight, or the Lady of Strategy to some. Though to me, she is 'The Mother', as it is through her will and machinations that I came to be in anticipation of this war." She explains. "Neither are her true names, but it is the one the faithful have come to call her from where I and Torunn are from."

"Alright. So what's the plan? The are at least two goblins in the windmill. We certainly need to clear the village of the remaining goblins and then find the villagers. "
"To head to the windmill. Though before that--"D.O.R.K takes a moment to see if she at least sees her brother. And if so, she'll march over, attempt to put him under her arm, and carry him along back to the others and on the way to the windmill. Even if that mean going without a weapon in hand. But if not, she'll start fidgeting and looking around nervously until another steps up to take point.

Having all reconvened in the Village Square, the Party decides to follow Devin’s suggestions and check out the Windmill located in the southwest corner of the Village. The Party marches (a loose term at best) in a two character wide configuration as follows: Beebo & Vark; D.O.R.K.& Toruun; Meiva & Devin; Blik and Flik struggling goblinfully under all the extra equipment that Beebo has loaded them up with; Jaylen & Kella; and finally, still not absolutely sure she is welcome in the Party, Gwerk forlornly brings up the rear. As the party makes its way down the western path they pass a cottage on the right (western) side before reaching the base of the ten foot high hill that the Windmill has been built on. Several sets of small footprints can be seen on the narrow path leading up to the Windmill.
Too focused on the path/work promise ahead, D.O.R.K didn't have time to be worrying about a forlorn goblin. She adjusted her shield arm as much as she could to keep her brother shielded. But if she had to continue to carry him the rest of the way, she relied on Beedo & Vark. "Acolyte Beedo. Acolyte Vark. Stay on guard. They have had more than plenty of time to fortify this position. And if you need to, fall back, and I will take point."She suggests during the final approach.
One the group have made it to the base of the windmill itself, Vark and Beedo have a moment to rock, paper, scissors on how will have to go through the door first. Sadly, after 2 go's of it, Vark grumbles as he goes to open and charge through the door first with Beedo on his heels letting out a war cry. "Get ready to get rocked, scrub lords!"

From the base of the hill, the Party watches Vark and Beedo charge, shields up, into the Windmill. Then they see Vark come back out with an arrow embedded in his upper arm dragging Beedo’s unconscious body which has two arrows in its chest. He turns to D.O.R.K. and says “dey wus waitin’ for us BossLady an' Beebo’s down an’ we don’t leave a man behind, right!”
"Af-Affirmative! Just hold on. I'm on my way up!" She gives a curt motion for the others to follow as she races up the path. Along the way she then starts motion for Vark to move Beedo just a little further away from the door itself. In the short time it takes to reach them, D.O.R.K had already unlatched her healer's kit(9/10 Charges Left) from her hip, and set to work managing the injury. "I should've anticipated this. I am... I will not allow it to happen again." She says, meticulous pulling the last of the arrows before covering and sealing the wound up. As soon as she was done, she leaves the healer's kit behind and says, "Get him to Gwerk, or the others." She stands up fully, unstrapping her axe. "And see yourself treated as well."
Without another word, D.O.R.K uses the last of her movement to get inside the windmill.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Devin watched as D moved forward and used the kit on one of the goblins. When she unstraps her axe and moves into the windmill he decides he needs to act with her.
Casting Shillelagh (bonus action) he moves forward, following her into the windmill.
"Thank you lady for your strength." He whispers as he steps through the door. If he has enough movement left he will attack the closest goblin inside the windmill.
"And see yourself treated as well." D.O.R.K. says as she without another word, D.O.R.K uses the last of her movement to get inside the windmill."Thank you lady for your strength." Devin whispers as he steps through the door.
As Devin and D.O.R.K, shields up, step through the door to the windmill a flurry of arrows (four in total) come out of the darkness high inside the windmill. One arrow misses D.O.R.K. slamming into the doorpost next to him and another goes between Devin and D.O.R.K. and sails out the door. The other two arrows hit Devin, one in the leg doing 6 points of piercing damage and the other in the chest doing a further 6 points of piercing damage. Devin collapses to the ground unconscious.
They were waiting for you and so got initiative first this round. D.O.R.K. your turn to act this Round!
