Its look the giants - which are stone giants - are telling the party to keep away while they complete what appears to be the destruction of the bridge.
As Devin is still approximately 50 yards away it is difficult for him to tell exactly how much of the bridge has been destroyed.
"Unfortunate, but not unsurprising. Be on guard. I will try to stall for time by making it seem as if we intend to go further along, and not directly to them. Or, if you all would prefer, I can have Mr. Charge down now?" D.O.R.K request. However, as the others are deliberating on the subject, their elephant mount is coaxed into walking on the parallel route to the river without getting any closer in the meantime. Their pace would however remain sedate so that Lukian and Beedo can catch up with a fair amount of ease.
Beedo is at Lukian's heel, if only to not hear flak later again about "abandonment" and what not. Though without specific orders to engage, the moment boulders start flying there may be a different story. "As they get closer he whispers to Lukian, "So, we got a plan, or we just fly'n by the seat of our balls 'ere? I assume we wanna beat'em up 'fore 'ey reck 'ol bridge even further. But, I just as reckon dey gonna start flinging pieces right from it if we can't coax'm away."

50 feet. He's ready to fey step 30 feet back toward the group if something jumps out at him or the giant suddenly lobs a boulder at him.
From a distance of about 50' Lukian can hear the water rushing through the narrow gorge that the bridge spans. Given his lack of expertise (10) it is difficult for Lukian to tell exactly how damaged the bridge is.
"Well, our current distance is outside the range of my spells and too far to see what is going on. But we are also likely out of range for them to lob those rocks with decent aim. They don't seem to see our friend so why don't we keep them distracted and paying attention to us instead of looking around. I will walk forward and attempt to parley with them to see what is going on and why the bridge is being taken down."
Devin walks forward his shield held lightly at his side and his staff in his hand. He moves to a distance of about 75 feet and is ready to dodge flying rocks if needed. He tries to get a good look at the state of the bridge as he moves forward.
As he gets to about 75 feet he calls out to the giants
"Hail! We are travelers trying to pass through. We would like to cross the river but do not wish to offend your territory. Why is the bridge being dismantled? Is there trouble in this region we should know about?"
D.O.R.K started to shake her head refusal of the intent, but manages to catch herself mid-motion. "... As you wish."She stated softly, before then bidding Golemogote to kneel and let the cleric descend to the ground. She'll look to the others as well to see if they too wish to disembark. And if none wish to the great big beast is guided back to his feet, and made readied to move ahead at the first signs of hostility.
Before then as just a safety measure, she also summons the Red Veil of her Goddess to shield Golemgote for at least the next minute.
(Unless stated by others otherwise, rest of party should be 50 yards(150 ft) away from giants/bridge.)

"Hail! We are travelers trying to pass through. We would like to cross the river but do not wish to offend your territory. Why is the bridge being dismantled? Is there trouble in this region we should know about?" Devin yells at the Giants
As he gets closer one of the giants turns and says "Go away! We must clean dreamscape of abominations"as it lobs a bit of the bridge at him (Attack: 23 Damage: 37 The stone hits Devin and (5) knocks him prone. The giant having seen that it has dealt with the interloper turns back to removing another stone from the bridge.
(@All: Unless someone still back at the Elephant interefers, that would trigger D.O.R.K's ready action to coaxing Mr. G in advance with hostile intent. So... initiative?)

Can Devin see how much of the bridge has been dismantled? Too much to still cross?
Devin (2) examines the bridge but cannot tell whether it is safe to cross in its current state or not.
Would "We must clean dreamscape of abominations" make any sense to Lukian in light of the books he read while in the floating tower?
The word 'dreamscape' triggers something in Lukian's memory and then he realises he has come across the word before. It was when they were in Zephyros' castle and he was reading about the various Giant races "Only when a stone giant is surrounded by stone do they consider themselves to be in reality. A world of all-encompassing stone is a realm of permanence and solidity, one where a lifetime of laborious carving can last through countless eons. The surface world, with its shifting light, endless sky, changing climate, and eroding wind, represents a dream state, an unreality where nothing lasts and therefore nothing has significance.'

Her fears realized, D.O.R.K immediately has Mr. G charging for the Stone Giant's position; or at least, as close can to 60ft of them without running the risk of dipping into the embankment and slipping into the river.. Vark hang on for dear life from the cart throughout the rush forward, as they, and whoever else remained on the Howdah, quickly leaveing Mamba in their dust, assuming the fire spirit doesn't keep pace. She slows only once within that 60ft range, and positions Mr. G to cover Devin from view.
"Either cease your destruction of that structure, or else this operative of the Red Knight shall be forced to make you."She yells in gaint, voice amplified by through the grace of her goddess.

Remember Golemogote is not trained as a war elephant and there is a big difference between trying to get him to charge something rather than not bolt when he is surprised by something but we'll see how D.O.R.K. goes (DC 25 for Golemogote to charge and D.O.R.K. rolls - 17)
Much to his surprise but eternally grateful to his goddess - who she believes has blessed her action - D.O.R.K successfully encourages Golemogote to charge the Stone Giants.
Taken by surprise by Golemogote's sudden acceleration Toruun and Vark struggle to maintain their seats (DC 15 @ disadvantage because they're surprised T = 10 & V = 11) and both end up flying out of the Howdah and Cart respectively taking 4 of bludgeoning damage as they hit the ground.
The rest of the party is equally surprised by the trumpeting of an excited elephant as Golemogote accelerates - ears flapping - towards the Stone Giants.
Devin, hearing the mighty Gol trumpeting towards his location, quickly rolls up onto his feet to make sure he is out of the way. He then will Dodge as he watches to see what will happen.
After making the connection between what the stone giants in the river said and the snippet he read in Uncle Zeph's book, Lukian telepathically begins to Dawnbringer, "Can you — ?" But then he stops mid thought when he feels Golem charging his way. He looks back and forth between the rapidly approaching elephant and the giants and casts eagle's splendor on himself as he steps out between the two. "Wait!" he yells. "We might be able to help them clean the dreamscape of abominations!"
Ebonitus, quickly checks on Toruun and Vark, then races up behind the elephant, trying not to eat too much dust, getting prepared for what may happen next.

Does the party need to use the bridge? Can Lukian tell how much of the bridge has been deconstructed?
How close is Lukian actually getting to the bridge?
