When Lukian notices Mambo's disappointment, he asks Dawnbringer to communicate with the elemental: "We are counting on you to save us if we should find ourselves in danger. I will use magic to speak a message directly to you that no one else will hear. When you hear my voice in your head, though you cannot normally understand the words that I speak, you will understand the meaning of the message. Be ready."
As the party is making their way parallel to the trail they hear a rock roll down the hill behind and slightly above them followed by a curse in what Lukian recognises to be Elvish.
Though never fully mollified by previous conversation, the living construct opted to leaves things as they were... again, and rest. But the night for her at least is fraught with feverish writing when not on auto-standby mode to give internal systems rest.
In response to the noise later in their journey, Dork's first instincts is to look to her right to an unoccupied space, then shake her head and look to the others. She gestures first herself, then up to the hill, signalling her intentions. If none object, or voice some other plan, then she would to sneak her way up the hill for a peak at the noise maker.

When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
The Surbrin Trail winds its way around the side of a hill and the party is travelling - some more quietly than the others - on the uphill side of trail about 30' away. At the sound of the Elvish curse, Lukian turns and notices a figure further up the hill about 60' away but on a parallel trajectory move from behind one rock to behind another.
A dark figure in dark armor is in the distance, the last bits of the black night clinging around him (or is it a her? Can you even really see clearly in the gloom at this distance?) The loud crack of kicked rocks and an elvish curse indicate this isn't a thief skulking in the shadows, not is a giant based on it's human or elf size.
Suddenly, four glowing orbs appear about 6 feet over each of you, floating in the early dawn and illuminating you gently. For about 15-20 seconds they stay, then glide quickly towards the figure in the distance and illuminate him for another 30 seconds. Finally, the form a line between you, the orbs spaced about 15 feet apart and lighting the path between you. The half-elf with coal-dark skin and silver hair, wearing blackened chainmail and a shield but without a weapon in hand, begins walking towards you. As he nears, you make out the symbol on his shield - a bright pair of eyes of a darkly beautiful woman, encircled by seven silver stars.
He holds out an open hand, palm up, and says, "Greetings, travelers. I am Ilezenya, a Dusk Warden and cleric of Selune. I apologize for the little show, but I am tracking down a mystery to determine who, or what, is attacking rangers of the Emerald Enclave. The trail is leading me towards the ruins ahead. What brings you this way?"
After the blatantly non-hostile light show concludes, Lukian comes out of hiding, making himself seen as well. The elf is tall and thin with pale skin and pale green eyes. His white-blonde hair is cut relatively short. He has a scar that runs from the side of his mouth, along his cheek bone, and disappears into his hairline. He is dressed in travel-worn studded leather and carries a shield with the symbol of Lathander. In his hand is what appears to be a broken sword — a handle, but no blade. After stowing said broken blade, with his right hand, Lukian delicately touches his right ear, the corner of his right eye, and then rests the same hand over his heart. "Greetings, Ilezenya, I am Lukian Silverspear, formerly of Cyllitria'nel in the Ardeep Forest, and a servant of the Morninglord. This is Dork," he says, indicating the warforged, "Ebonitus," he says, indicating the dark-skinned one, "and that one down there is Devin."
Despite any intent -- apparent or otherwise -- D.O.R.K drew her spear, and remained on edge for however long the motes remained visible. Though, she remained cautious in only ever interposing the rounded metal shield when one drifts a few inches too close than comfortable. Even then, the dim lighting reveals D.O.R.K to be some sort of golem or construct in nature, if though feminine in figure and... one that has seen better days. The once hot rod red color upon mettalic plating that composed her actual structure appeared faded or scrapped off in places from combat being the most obvious. She was short as well, barely standing at the height of the tallest dwarf. And etched into her forehead was a symbol reminiscent in design of the knight chest piece.
She wore nothing in the way of clothing except chain mail and chain mail coif(currently down), but bore on her back a heavily ladened backpack and wicked looking great axe. She doesn't follow Lukian's example beyond lowering the tip of her spear and letting others do the talk. As they did however, Ilnezya is left with the distinct impression of being sized up by the dimly glowing yellow eyes on a clearly inhuman face.
Devin shifts his feet and looks up the hillside with some concern. He lifts his hand to pet Aslan for a moment and then realizes the tressym isn't there. Looking around he sees the small cat in a crouched position and is clearly hunting something. A moment later he launches forward and catches a small rodent. Devin rolls his eyes, "Always hungry eh?"" he says quietly.
Ilnezya would see a young human man with brown hair. He wears tan and brown clothing and carries a staff and a shield that is emblazoned with a symbol of an eye, but not the eye of Helm or of any other god that you know. He would also see a small tressym, a winged cat, fly up to rest on the top of the pack the young man carries on his back.
Devin, for his part, continues to maintain his position and watches the trail below for signs of movement or trouble as the others deal with the newcomer.
"You do not appear to be pilgrims or weary travelers. No, the way you are armed and armored, and the way you were moving, tells me that you are here for a purpose. Perhaps our missions can complement each other?"
The half-drow responds honestly to Lukian's question. "The Emerald Enclave, wilderness survivalists who preserve the natural order by rooting out unnatural threats, have a loose working relationship with the Dusk Wardens since they often travel similar paths and oppose the evils of the night. The Emerald Enclave requested aid from the Wardens to find a missing pair of their scouts who were sent to observe and report on giant activity in the area. I am in good standing with the Enclave and was tasked to investigate this matter. I searched and followed their trail, and after a couple of weeks I found their bodies. Their disturbing deaths led me further onwards to seek out who, or what, could kill them so easily and with such force. I ask again what brings you to these parts?"
The living construct listens attentively, and silently filed away what she could of the response. The answer as well leaves her lost in thought, as she cannot help but recall a former elven ally and servant of silvanus. And in think of her for a few moments with her head bowed, she finally looks up and puts away the spear all together. "We have each been sent by our respective deities to... to...." She trailed off from there, rubbing at the symbol on her forehead. "... We were sent to... discovery and adjust or remove the.... the cause of the recent giant activity happening all over."D.O.R.K eventually stammered out in her husky voice.
"Though that being said, we are here to... observe and... potentially undermine a meeting between a Fire Giant, and that of... an organization seeking to... I.. I... suppose profit off the current growing instability... at the cost of all others. Thus assuring that the damage of the recent... recent... Giant hostilities are at least kept minimized over the course of... our investigation."
Ilezenya nods thoughtfully and says, "Yes, giants could have caused the blunt force trauma and rapid disassociation of the rangers' limbs and torsos. And if there is a broader conspiracy, then my path is parallel to yours." He pauses and looks at each of you. "Would you accept a member of the Dusk Guard on your team?"
Lukian turns concerned eyes on Dork, and the longer she has trouble speaking, the more his eyes furrow. It isn't until Ilezenya mentions "rapid disassociation of the ranger's limbs and torsos" that the elf looks back at the newcomer, his concern turning to surprise.
OOC: DM, would Lukian have any knowledge of the Dusk Guard? Or of the Emerald Enclave?
The Emerald Enclave certainly - feel free to look it up in various sources - it’s even possible that Lukian could be a member. As to the Dusk Wardens unlikely Lukian would know about them but make a Religion test

Lukian will go with Dork. Stealth: 7
(OOC) to make it easier I’ll use the stealth rolls from earlier without the +10 from Ebonitus’ spell. Will put up post later today

Devin remains where they were keeping an eye out for other dangers as the others make their way over to investigate the noises heard.

A slight edit. This has actually happened over D.O.R.K. and Ebonitus as the figure is only aware of these two at this stage.
