Lukian deftly wields his weapon and shield, blocking two of the skilled fighter's attacks before a third slips by his defenses. How is he so fast?! Then, the horse joins the fight, catching the elf off guard. He scowls at the creature, but continues to focus on the rider, thankful for the help of the others. He thrusts Dawnbringer forward again.
As the last rider falls D.O.R.K picks up the pace somewhat, if only to reach everyone's side. If Mambo hadn't stopped setting everything on fire by the time she reached casual talking distance, then she would turn and wave one hand to grab Ebonitus attention, while point emphatically in the direction of the living inferno. But regardless, her attention soon after is on the others, calling out if need be over lingering chaos, "Some of you look in need of repair. Shall I administer it?"

Ebonitus communes with Mambo, "You have been a great help, well done. Now you need to reduce your flame again so we can be quieter and less visible". He too then looks around and says to the others "What about the other rider?"

Devin looks up the road towards the gates of Nesme. "I fear the guard made his way to the city. We must make our way there, we have no time to rest. I am unsure what will happen but we can hope there is still something we can learn, or disrupt. We shall see."
Devin then touches his wounds and casts Cure wounds on himself for 7 hp.
Looking towards the ruins of Nesme he starts walking that way and then hesitates and stops.
"Perhaps we should secure these horses first. They may come in handy later." He'll then try and grab the reins of one.

As the rider slumps in his saddle, Lukian attempts to calm the horse as well as take stock of their surroundings.
@DM: How close are we to the city? Did we lose someone, re: Devin's comment about a guard making it to the city? How many horses are left? Do we see or hear any other activity, especially from the city?

As far as you can work out one of the guards has got away.

One of you moves to the corner in the trail and you can see the ruins of Nesme about 500 yards ahead. There are currently four horses - with assorted scars and scorch marks - still standing which Lukian is able to eventually calm down.

The light of D.O.R.K's eyes flicker a moment at Devin's response, and there's a long moment of silence from her. But afterwards, she subtle nods, equating the change of subject to a denial of her offer. Though she could've aided in gathering and calming the horses, having become something of an expert in the field of at handling animals, the tactician in her demanded a seeking of intel. So, trusting Lukian to handle the transportation issue, she began searching the guard starting from the last one to fall for anything of value, use, or simply noteworthy.

"I suppose we can picket the horses and then make our way to the ruins and hope for the best. But with that guard that got away I'm afraid they will have been alerted to our presence. Can we pass with out a trace again and try and sneak up on the opposite side as last time. Maybe Mambo can stay in the road here as a distraction?"
Devin will move into the woods on the north side if the road and work his way towards Nesme.
(@Grant: I assume nothing came of Dork's searching of the guards, or at least Madislak? At least in the time it took for Lukian to calm down the horse.)
D.O.R.K looks to Nesme, and at least considers the remaining distance need to cross to even get close to it along with its terrain. Yet, she refrained from commenting on any of it, and would merely follow the majority's desire, come what may once done searching the one guy at least. Though that said, she canted her head to the side briefly, before then asking, "I do not understand. Am I to interpret that we are then using the horses or not, given time is of the essence?"
(Not sure where forest is coming from as well mentioned by Devin. But, I assume it's in regards to the other route that would take us hours to get to stealthily that Grant mentioned before? Or something along those lines at least.)

I based that off the map that we were in the woods on the south side of the road hiding and now Devin is on the north side of the road.
Devin will move into the woods on the north side if the road and work his way towards Nesme.
Yes there are woods and low scrub on both sides of the road that Devin can move into but it does not extend all the way to the ruins of the city - still it will provide some coverage for those trying to move stealthily.
As far as I can work Ilezenya and Lukian are proposing to move up the road - yes?
D.O.R.K. no you didn't get anything of any use off the guards. What are you and Ebonitus doing?
(@Grant: Waiting for her question to be answer from those that hadn't immediately followed after Devin. So, depending on their response would be how she'd... well, respond. With DDP out for a bit though, if more immediate "action" is preferred, she'd eventually fall in line after Devin by about 30ft. So that when she's inevitably caught again, it's less likely to reflect on the group. With that in mind, I'll throw in the stealth roll.)
Given the urgency of the situation and the garbled message that the guard may have taken back to the city, Ebonitus proposes that he, D.o.r.k. and Mambo should continue up the road, whilst the others make their way more stealthily through the bush. Until he has a long rest, he cannot cast pass without trace again. Effectively Ebonitus, D.O.R.K. and Mambo would be a distraction which should enable the others to more easily move closer. Ebonitus, D.O.R.K. and Mambo would need to pace their approach so that those pushing through the scrub could keep up.

Lukian’s thrust is sufficient to end the guard’s life. So now what?

Devin is shadowing them in the cover along the side of the road but will quickly drop behind as he is moving at one-quarter speed.
