Satisfied, Jaylen heads for the livery to get ready to leave. She will remove her trunk from Golem and make Trayan ready to ride out carrying her and her stuff.
Xolkin and Kella are standing there watching the movement as various members of the party start rushing in and out of the Livery Stable and you can hear Golemogote trumpeting. Finally his curiosity obviously gets the better of him and he turns to Devin and says "you're obviously getting ready to leave, which is fine by me, but where are you going?"
After performing his inspection of D.O.R.K, Torunn helps Devin where he can. As he does this, he also goes through his belongings, making sure he has everything and things are in the right place. Once Golemogote is ready, Torunn is ready to go.
D.O.R.K shakes her head at the comment from Devin before motioning for Vark to lead Beedo in helping with Golemogote. That is, after getting them to postpone their thumb war over their earlier disagreement...
"On the subject of are departure, I must ask what your plans are going forward, Sir Xolkin? Given the probable injuries sustained in the most recent attack, and our... decision to leave, I do not imagine you will be able or willing to carry on in rescuing the survivors of the attack. But I would know, nevertheless."She bows fully at the waist to him, and for once even lowered her head enough to lose sight of the man.

Xolkin turns to D.O.R.K. and says "as an acolyte of the Red Lady you would know it is good strategy to understand who is sitting on your borders." He thinks a bit and then continues "and to me having a aggressive horde of goblins sitting on you doorstop - so to speak - strikes me as a less than optimal strategy. I will certainly give consideration to addressing the situation and if possible to rescue the villages will do so!" As he finishes his statement, you think you hear Kella mutter the word "wanker" under her breath whilst she looks at Xolkin with a slight smile.
D.O.R.K rises, cants her head at Kella, but catches herself midway into raising a hand. "Understood."She snaps into a salute a formal salute. "May the Mother find your strategy sound, and lend guidance in your future campaigns."D.O.R.K at that point steps and places a hand on Xolkin's elbow. Try to, at least, but if he jerks away out of her grip, she won't insist in pursuing it.
"Some further advise, though you may need it not. Boss Hark -- their leader -- is not well loved. I would make use of that to potentially bring the others to your side, and into a potentially less antagonistic future relationship." Her grip tightens for a second, and then she lets go to finish repairs and rest for a while.

Jaylen mounts Trayan and exits the livery, heading for Kella and Xolkin after spotting them. Pulling up within easy hearing range, she gives the woman a slight smile, but her eyes are stern. "Well met, Kella. Life is short. Live it as Tymora means it to be lived."
Leaving Nightstone - Day 4, First Ten-day, Month of Eleasis - 10.30 am
1) It is about mid-morning, when the party has finally assembled itself and is ready to leave the Village, Jaylen is mounted on Trayan and the rest of the party is on Golemogotê, with the exception of Beedo and Vark who are lying in the fodder that the cart has been stacked with. 2) To Jaylen's parting comment both Xolkin and Kella say almost in unison "Dare all, and trust in the Lady?"and then both turn and smile at each other. 3) As D.O.R.K. says "suta" to Golemogotê, the elephant starts walking and the cart lurches into action. "Dis is da life Vark! Pit 'bout dat gal - what was 'er name?" Beedo says to Vark. "Gwerk was 'er name mate," Vark says. He thinks for a bit and says "ya she woulda liked dis!" 4) Meanwhile the Tressym yet to be named (?) is sitting on Devin's shoulder peering around with interest. 5) As the party moves through the Gate and onto the drawbridge, Tiny who is manning one of the towers leans down and says "didn't you guys say yer was 'eading East. Well I hate to tell you this but its that way" as he points a thumb back over his shoulder towards the other side of the Village.
So the question is what direction is the party heading?
"I say we follow the river around to the northeast and look for a crossing into the Ardeep forest. We can find a trail. If the village has been known to trade with the elves there should be paths to follow."
Devin feels the Tressym on his pack rub against his head and purr.
"Well friend we are off. I still don't know your name so I'll have to come up with something myself. I think I'll name you 'Aslan'. What do you think of that?"
Devin walks over to where Meiva waits. He hands her the last 4 goodberries from yesterday's spell.
"Eat these and they will heal you some (4 pts total). They'll expire soon so you should put them to use. I would hate to waste their magic."
"Agreed. Though it is riskier. Elves, as I understood, are highly territorial, and will confront us before long given our mount's size. Tymora Agent Jaylen! I propose you take the lead and scout ahead as necessary. If you wish, I can have Beedo ride along with you to assist."Looking back, Jaylen can see the aforementioned goblin shaking his head rapidly 'no'.
No matter the outcome, once the group is a good ways away from the draw bridge and well on their way northward D.O.R.K speaks again. "Are you all certain that this truly what you wish? While the guards were less than helpful in providing information on the stone, or in gratefulness -- not that I understand why that matters -- it is possible the missing residents could have possessed more on the subject giving their proximity to it."She looks back towards the town.
"Furthermore, it is unlikely that Xolkin will martial any potential reinforcements in an expedient matter, assuming they arrive within the next day. If anything, without us to hold them true to their word, they may follow through with their originally intended plan. Meaning many more lives potentially lost, if Mystra's Acolyte Gwerk hint is anything to go by."

Or so this agent believes at least. There are other issues as well. Chief among them being finding the means to get on the castle in the first place, as well as establishing bases outside of waterdeep should we need to stay afield." Jaylen opens her mouth to respond to Dork's initial suggestion, but then waits until the construct finally rationalizes herself into silence. Once she feels Dork is done, Jaylen says, "I'll scout ahead. No need to to send your ... acolyte." She gives another wary glance at the goblins before spurring Trayan ahead. She'll ride a good 100 feet ahead, looking for the aforementioned paths, an eventual way across the river, and also any signs of activity (especially danger).
Heading East - eventually 1)The party makes its way around to the northeast of the Village to the banks of the Ardeep River. They realise that it is too deep here to ford and so they continue up the river on its west bank. After about a mile or so, Jaylen finds a ford that she thinks is both shallow enough for them to cross and also has a solid enough base that Golemogotê will be able to drag the cart across without difficulty. 2)Mounted on Trayan, Jaylen spashes into the ford and easily crosses to the other side. 3) With the command "ka bonya", D.O.R.K. encourages Golemogotê to make his way down the bank and onto the rocky and stony platform that forms the ford and then to enter the fast flowing river. Golemogotê picks his way across the river dragging the cart behind him. Halfway across he stops and using his trunk takes in a couple of huge draughts of water which he then sprays into his mouth. Overcome with the feel of water on his feet he then takes a big trunkful and sprays it over his body and head - D.O.R.K., sitting on Golemogotê's neck in the driving position, gets thoroughly drenched as do Meiva and Toruun sitting in the front of the howdah, Devin at the back of the howdah manages to avoid the worst of it but Aslan is woken up from a deep sleep where he had been resting next Devin, flies up into the air with a hiss of disgust. With the command ""suta"D.O.R.K. encourages Golemogotê to walk on. 4)As the party emerges from the river, they have no trouble determining which direction is east and they head off in that direction. After about another mile they realise that what had up until now been isolated trees are becoming increasingly thick. Soon they realise that they are in the Ardeep Forrest and following a narrow path. 5) As they follow the path deeper into the forest, they realise it is just wide enough for Golemogotê and the cart to make their way along it; albeit at much slower pace of not more than a mile an hour. They also have to regularly duck low overhanging branches which if they were not careful would sweep them from their seats. As they make their way through the forest, Golemogotê regularly grabs a trunkful of leaves and branches and shoves them into his mouth. 6) Several times they come to other paths either crossing their path, joining with it or diverging from it. On each occasion, Meiva is able to determine the direction of the various paths and determine the best option that will keep them heading generally east. 7)After following a series of paths for about 5 hours, the party comes to a small clearing with a creek running through it. Realising that it is an ideal campsite for the night, they dismount and start to set up camp, which because I am nice I assume means hobbling both Trayan and Golemogotê. Whilst the others are setting up camp getting dinner ready, Meiva is able to catch a few trout from the stream, Devin and Jaylen are on guard. 8) Suddenly everybody hears an ear piercing screech which is soon answered by a second screech.
Devin, shield and staff in hand, stands guard while camp is made. When the screams are heard he quietly calls on his magic to grant strength to his staff (Shillelagh).
He looks around for danger or whatever made the noise. If he can't see what caused it his tries to determine which direction it came from.

She was in the process of asking DORK whether her "mechanical intellect might contain the knowledge of how to cook fish" when the screeching begins.
